About China Wok

China Wok, located at 1017 Bay Ridge Ave in Annapolis, Maryland, is a local establishment in the Chinese Restaurant category. While aiming to serve the community with a variety of Chinese dishes, recent online customer reviews paint a concerning picture regarding the quality of food, preparation methods, and hygiene standards at this location. Potential customers should carefully consider these experiences before deciding to dine at or order from China Wok.

One customer's detailed review described a disappointing experience with multiple dishes. The shrimp fried rice was reported to contain only chopped onions, fried rice (described as the basic fried rice served with fried wings), and a mere ten shrimp, lacking typical ingredients like bean sprouts. The beef and broccoli order consisted of white rice, broccoli, and beef. Similarly, the orange chicken with white rice arrived with orange chicken, fried rice, and just one piece of broccoli. This suggests a significant deviation from standard expectations for these common Chinese takeout dishes and a potential lack of attention to detail in their preparation.

The same reviewer also raised concerns about the freshness and cooking methods of the chicken, stating that the chicken at this China Wok location (specifically mentioning the Eastport shopping center, implying this is the same establishment or a related one with similar practices) used to be of excellent quality. However, the current practice allegedly involves cooking the chicken upon opening and then refrying it as orders come in. This method purportedly leads to overcooked and dry chicken, especially later in the day. The reviewer expressed disappointment with the perceived decline in food quality and questioned the value received for the price paid, which was nearly $30 for a mediocre meal. They also appealed to the restaurant's awareness of its local customer base from the Eastport Terrace and Harbour House communities, lamenting the poor quality despite past positive experiences.

Adding to these serious concerns, another customer reported alarming issues with the food's hygiene and quality. This review stated the presence of "hair & dirt" in their food and described the rice as "super old" and inedible. Even more disturbingly, the reviewer claimed to have seen a rat on the premises and suggested that the health department needed to shut the restaurant down. These are severe allegations that raise significant red flags about the cleanliness and safety of China Wok.

Furthermore, this second reviewer recounted a previous negative experience with old chicken and claimed to have requested fresh chicken on their subsequent order. The response they allegedly received was a dish containing a mix of half freshly fried chicken and half old chicken. The reviewer emphasized the unbelievable nature of this experience, further highlighting severe inconsistencies in food quality and a lack of attention to customer requests and food safety.

Based on these two highly critical reviews, there is no positive feedback regarding the environment or ambiance of China Wok. Both reviewers seem to have ordered takeout or delivery, so there is no information available about the dine-in experience, cleanliness of the dining area, or the overall atmosphere of the restaurant itself.

Similarly, the reviews do not provide any information about the services offered, beyond order pickup. There is no mention of delivery options, the friendliness or efficiency of the staff (other than the negative comment about the chicken preparation), or the ease of placing orders. The only service-related detail is the unusually quick 5 to 10-minute pickup time mentioned by one reviewer, which they initially took as a positive sign but later associated with the subpar food quality.

In terms of features, China Wok, as a Chinese restaurant, would typically offer a menu of various Chinese dishes, likely including popular American Chinese takeout staples. However, the negative reviews suggest that the quality and preparation of these dishes may be inconsistent and potentially below standard. The deviation from traditional recipes for dishes like shrimp fried rice, as reported by one customer, could be considered a negative feature for those expecting authentic or standard versions of these meals.

There is absolutely no promotional information available in the provided text. The reviews focus solely on the negative experiences with food quality and hygiene, with no mention of any discounts, special offers, or unique selling points that China Wok might offer.

In conclusion, the recent online customer reviews for China Wok at 1017 Bay Ridge Ave in Annapolis, MD, paint a deeply concerning picture. Multiple issues regarding food quality, including missing ingredients, unusual preparation methods leading to dry chicken, and the use of old rice, have been reported. Most alarmingly, there are serious allegations of finding hair and dirt in the food and even the sighting of a rat, suggesting significant hygiene problems. One reviewer went as far as to recommend health department intervention. These negative experiences far outweigh any potential positives and should give potential customers significant pause. The lack of any positive feedback regarding food, service, or environment, coupled with the severity of the reported issues, makes it difficult to recommend China Wok based on this information. Individuals seeking Chinese cuisine in Annapolis may want to consider alternative establishments with more consistently positive reviews and higher standards of food quality and hygiene.

Given the seriousness of the allegations, it would be prudent for anyone considering ordering from or dining at China Wok to proceed with extreme caution and perhaps seek more recent reviews from other sources to get a broader understanding of the current situation. The phone number for China Wok is (410) 268-1250 or +1 410-268-1250, and the address is 1017 Bay Ridge Ave, Annapolis, MD 21403, USA. However, based on the provided information, it would be advisable to thoroughly research and consider other options before patronizing this establishment.

Ordered shrimp fried rice it had nothing but chopped onions, fried rice and 10 shrimp ( the fried rice you get when you order fried wings and rice add shrimp) no bean sprouts or anything else that is in traditional carryout shrimp fried rice...Ordered beef and brocolli it was white rice a bunch of brocolli and beef ,Ordered orange chicken w/white rice got home it had orange chicken fried rice and one piece of brocolli...i should have known better when i called and the guy that took my order said 5 to 10 min pickup...Paid nearly $30 to receive mediocre food ...The food at China Wok (Eastport shopping center)used to be awesome incl the chicken but now the chicken is cooked upon opening then refried as people order so as the day goes on you'll get overcooked dry chicken..Sad!!! Why rip people off when most off your customers are from the eastport terrace and harbour house community... I myself don't live in the area so i am extremely dissatified to drive there and receive such poor quality of food as i never had an issue in the past...

There was hair & dirt in my food. The rice was super old I couldn’t eat it. I saw a rat & the health department needs to shut these people down. I asked for fresh chicken because the last time it was old as well so they fried half fresh & the other half was old. I can’t make this up.

I ordered on DoorDash I was charged 27.46 dollars for 8 pieces of chicken no rice. I called the store the man told me to call door dash and that they were closed. I am so upset that I was deceived.

Food was excellent and A LOT for a low price. I wish I got the man’s name that helped my boyfriend and I. But he was very friendly.
