Welcome to China Wok of Port Charlotte, a Chinese restaurant located at 13435 South McCall Road #c11 in Port Charlotte, Florida. As a local establishment in the Chinese restaurant category, China Wok of Port Charlotte aims to provide a variety of Chinese dishes to the community. However, recent online customer reviews paint a concerning picture regarding the quality and taste of the food served at this location. This introduction is based on these reviews to provide local users with an objective understanding of potential experiences.
China Wok of Port Charlotte can be contacted directly at (941) 697-8886 or via their mobile phone number, +1 941-697-8886. These contact details can be used to inquire about their menu, place orders for takeout or delivery (if available), confirm their operating hours, or address any specific questions. However, given the nature of the recent feedback, potential customers might approach with caution.
The two available customer reviews express significant dissatisfaction with the food from China Wok of Port Charlotte, describing it as the "worst Chinese food ever" by one reviewer and the "worst Chinese food we have ever had" by the other. These are strong indictments of the culinary offerings. Let's examine the specific issues raised by these customers.
One reviewer detailed several dishes that were particularly disappointing. The vegetable egg foo young was described as "mushy and tasteless" and containing "canned peas and carrots and a few bean sprouts" as the only vegetables. The yellow gravy served with it was also reported to be "tasteless." The sweet and sour pork was found to be "small heavy battered bits of off tasting pork sausage with a tasteless red sauce," notably lacking the peppers, pineapple, or tomato typically expected in this dish. This reviewer concluded that they "could not eat it." Even the vegetable fried rice, while deemed "edible," was criticized for lacking typical Chinese vegetables and consisting mostly of peas. This customer, a first-time reviewer, felt compelled to share their terrible and disappointing experience.
The second reviewer had tried China Wok of Port Charlotte on three separate occasions, adhering to a "three-strike rule," and each time found the food to be subpar, ultimately leading them to conclude that they could no longer patronize the establishment. Their last attempt was the walnut shrimp, which they described as "terrible," likening the sauce to "powdered sugar in water" with a few walnuts poured over deep-fried shrimp. The sweet and sour chicken, usually a reliable dish at most Chinese restaurants, was also deemed "sub par." This reviewer noted that the rice was consistently "too dry," suggesting it might be reheated. They concluded that the food was "almost always been pretty much inedible" and expressed disbelief at any positive reviews, suggesting those reviewers might have very low standards or get exceptionally lucky with their orders. This customer explicitly stated they are "done wasting my money" at this restaurant.
Regarding the environment of China Wok of Port Charlotte, neither of the provided reviews offers any insights into the restaurant's ambiance or decor. Customers focused entirely on their negative experiences with the food. Therefore, based on the available information, we cannot provide a description of the dining environment.
In terms of services, the reviews imply that China Wok of Port Charlotte offers takeout, as both reviewers ordered food to take away. There is no explicit mention of dine-in or delivery services in the provided feedback. The service experience itself is not discussed, with the sole focus being on the severely disappointing food quality.
The features of China Wok of Port Charlotte, based on these reviews, are unfortunately negative. The food is described as tasteless, poorly prepared, and lacking expected ingredients. Specific dishes like vegetable egg foo young, sweet and sour pork, walnut shrimp, and sweet and sour chicken all received strong criticism. Even the vegetable fried rice was deemed inadequate. The only potential feature mentioned is the availability of standard Chinese dishes, but the execution appears to be significantly flawed according to these recent customers.
Based on the severely negative information provided, there is no indication of any promotional offers or discounts being advertised by China Wok of Port Charlotte. Given the strong complaints about the fundamental quality of the food, any promotions would likely be overshadowed by these concerns.
In conclusion, the recent online reviews for China Wok of Port Charlotte paint a dire picture of the food quality. Customers have described multiple dishes as poorly prepared, tasteless, and significantly below expectations. The strong and consistent negative feedback suggests that local users should exercise extreme caution and seriously consider alternative Chinese dining options in Port Charlotte. The severity of the complaints, with descriptions like "worst Chinese food ever" and "pretty much inedible," should not be ignored.
As a local resident of Port Charlotte, if you are looking for a Chinese restaurant, the recent feedback for China Wok of Port Charlotte is overwhelmingly negative. The detailed descriptions of poorly prepared and tasteless food across multiple dishes should serve as a significant warning. It would be highly advisable to thoroughly research other Chinese dining establishments in the area that have received more positive and reliable reviews regarding their food quality and preparation. The risk of a disappointing and potentially inedible meal appears to be quite high based on the experiences shared by these recent customers. Prioritizing establishments with a track record of positive feedback would likely lead to a much more satisfying dining experience.

This was the worst Chinese food we have ever had. The vegetable egg foo young was mushy and tasteless with canned peas and carrots and a few bean sprouts for vegetables. The yellow gravy was tasteless. The sweet and sour pork was small heavy battered bits of off tasting pork sausage with a tasteless red sauce. No peppers, pineapple or tomato like you would expect. We could not eat it. The vegetable fried rice was edible, but had no Chinese vegetables, mostly peas. I never post reviews, but this was so terrible and disappointing.
This is the WORST Chinese food ever. I've tried this spot about 3 times. I'm a huge fan of the 3 strike rule. Last thing I tried was the walnut shrimp and it was terrible. It seemed as if they put powdered sugar in water and threw a few walnuts in the mix and poured that on top of deep fried shrimp. I was soo disappointed. The sweet and sour chicken that I usually get from any Chinese restaurant was also sub par. You usually can't mess up sweet and sour chicken but this place figured out how to. The rice was always too dry for me like its just cooked and put in the fridge then re-heated as needed. I just can't do this spot anymore. It's almost always been pretty much inedible "food". The people praising this restaurant must really like bad food or they get really lucky when they order. I'm done wasting my money.
Food tastes good, but the beef teriyaki was woefully disappointing. 3 beef teriyaki sticks for almost $10.. I kid you not when I tell you they were the size of one of my fingers (and I'm a 4 ft 10 inch female with small hands. Unbelievably disappointed, the value was not there.
First off, you need to know that it is mostly a take-out place. Only 4 tables, which I believe are there for the convenience of people waiting for their order. The veggies and noodles were more noodles than veggies. The Krab rangoon is just cream cheese. It's my guess that it is spelled wrong because of the lack of Crab. But it's on par with most chinese take-out. If that's what you're looking for, I recommend it. The locals must love it because they were very busy.
Best Chinese restaurant hands-down for 50 miles. Came down here from LI NY in December tried many places lived all around and this by far is the best place around. It’s awesome as is their General TSO and chicken lo mein. Lunch special sizes are enormous and the tray weighs a ton. I’m not sure about all the negative reviews but I’ve been here four or five times and each time no problems and the food was excellent !!
