About China Wok

China Wok is a Chinese restaurant located at 5875 Main St Suite H in Zachary, Louisiana (LA 70791), USA. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, China Wok primarily functions as a takeout establishment serving the local community. They can be contacted at (225) 658-8898 or via mobile phone at +1 225-658-8898 for placing orders.

Based on the limited customer reviews available online, there appears to be a significant divergence in the experiences reported by patrons of China Wok. One recent review detailed a highly negative experience with a takeout order, while another review expressed strong satisfaction, even claiming it to be the best Chinese food in the Baton Rouge area (presumably referring to the broader vicinity). This stark contrast suggests potential inconsistencies in food quality or varying customer expectations.

The negative review described the online ordering process as "very convenient and easy," with the food being ready and hot within the estimated timeframe, and the pickup process as error-free. This indicates that China Wok offers a streamlined and efficient service for customers opting for takeout. However, the positive aspects ended there for this reviewer, as the food itself was deemed significantly subpar, leading to a low two-star rating.

The specific issues highlighted in the negative review included the chicken and broccoli combination. The fried rice was described as "bland" and lacking any vegetables, essentially being just colored white rice. The reviewer also noted a clump of hard, mushed rice, suggesting poor rice preparation or receiving the bottom of a batch. Most alarmingly, the reviewer reported discovering a "big piece of plastic cooked with the food" and subsequently finding more pieces of plastic chopped into the meal. This is a serious food safety concern and understandably ruined the reviewer's appetite, leading them to discard the rest of their meal. They strongly advised others to "beware of the quality of your meal before consumption" and stated they would not recommend China Wok.

In stark opposition to this experience, another reviewer enthusiastically proclaimed China Wok as "the best Chinese food in Baton Rouge." They explicitly mentioned it being a takeout place but praised the food as "always been fantastic," with "large portions and a very reasonable price." This reviewer identified China Wok as their "favorite Chinese place to go," indicating a consistently positive experience over time.

Considering these two contrasting reviews, it is difficult to form a definitive overall assessment of China Wok. The positive review suggests that some customers have found the food to be of high quality, with generous portions and good value, leading to repeat business. However, the detailed negative review raises significant concerns about food safety and quality control, particularly the presence of plastic in the food and the poor preparation of the fried rice. The discrepancy could be due to changes in kitchen staff, inconsistencies in food preparation, or different standards of what customers consider "fantastic." The negative review's mention of a previous negative experience with the rice over a year prior also hints at a potentially recurring issue with this staple dish.

As a Chinese takeout restaurant, China Wok likely offers a standard menu of popular Chinese-American dishes. These typically include a variety of fried rice options (though one reviewer found it bland and devoid of vegetables), noodle dishes, and entrees featuring chicken, beef, pork, and seafood with various sauces and vegetable combinations. Given the mention of a chicken and broccoli combination, this is likely a standard offering. Customers might also expect to find appetizers like spring rolls and egg rolls on the menu. However, the reported issues with the fried rice and the presence of foreign objects in the food raise serious questions about the overall quality and safety of their preparations.

There is no information provided regarding any promotional offers or special deals at China Wok. Local residents interested in learning about any discounts or menu specials would need to contact the restaurant directly using the provided phone numbers. They may also be able to inquire about their current menu and pricing when calling.

In conclusion, the customer feedback for China Wok in Zachary, LA, presents a mixed and somewhat alarming picture. While one reviewer considers it the best Chinese food in the area, praising the quality, portions, and price, another recent review details a very negative experience involving bland rice and the discovery of plastic cooked into the food, raising significant food safety concerns. This stark contrast suggests potential inconsistencies in the restaurant's standards. Local residents considering ordering from China Wok should be aware of these differing experiences and may want to exercise caution, perhaps inquiring about food preparation practices or recent changes before placing an order. The convenience of online ordering and efficient pickup reported by one reviewer are positive aspects of their service, but the serious food quality and safety issues raised in the other review cannot be ignored.

This was my second time ordering take out here. Last time was over a year ago and I can't remember why I don't get my food from here. It was the rice for sure. Ordering online was very convenient and easy. My food was ready and hot within the estimated time frame. I entered the store paid for my food and left with my order. My order was correct and pickup was error free. The food is what brings it down to two stars. I ordered the chicken and broccoli combination. I was having something to eat before I went out for the evening. The fried rice was bland and no veggies which made it just colored white rice. It seems like I got the bottom of the rice and it had a big clump in it of hard mushed rice. The icing on the cake was as I was chewing, I discovered a big piece of plastic cooked with the food. It was not appetizing as I pulled it from my mouth. As I was digging, I found more pieces of plastic chopped in my food. Very concerning. I closed the container because my appetite was ruined and I had to head out for the evening. Please beware of the quality of your meal before consumption. I would not recommend.

I believe this is the best Chinese food in Baton Rouge. It’s a takeout place, but the food has always been fantastic, with large portions and a very reasonable price. My favorite Chinese place to go!

The food is cooked after you order it. The portions are very large and more than enough. I ordered sweet tea but it didn’t taste as good as I expected, not that bad

Food was really good. Forgot to take a pic. Order the double meats special (honey chicken and shrimp and broccoli with the best pork fried rice). Jan. 17, 2019 visit Double Meats special Sweet and sour chicken, shrimp and broccoli, and pork fried rice. Good. Feb. 6, 2019 House Special Shrimp w/ plain fried rice. Guys this was AWESOME... knock on wood. April 16, 2019 order the Mandarin Chicken w/ Shrimp fried rice. I know I say it alot... but it was AWESOME. Chicken was white meat fried to perfection and the brown sauce is good. I actually put some one the rice instead of soy sauce.
