Customer reviews of China Wok Buffet present a mixed perspective on the dining experience. One first-time visitor who dined around 4 pm on a Sunday shared a relatively positive initial impression. They were greeted promptly by the lady at the front and seated in a booth. The visual appeal of the food was noted, prompting them to try a little bit of everything available on the buffet line. Standout favorites for this customer were the "piping hot" egg drop and wonton soups. A unique feature they appreciated was the availability of diced green onions, which they could add to their dishes, noting that this was the first buffet they had encountered in the area to offer this condiment. They found the steamed rice, green beans, and pork fried rice to be satisfactory ("good"). However, they observed that some of the main dishes, specifically the broccoli and beef, sesame chicken, and chicken wings, were on the colder side. They also mentioned a slight wait for some dishes to be refilled, but when the chicken wings were replenished, they were hot and fresh.
This reviewer mentioned feeling too full from the soups to sample more of the buffet items beyond what they had already tried and photographed. Despite the issue with some cold dishes, they indicated a willingness to recommend giving China Wok Buffet a try. They also expressed an intention to return during typical lunch or dinner hours to see if their experience with the temperature of the previously cold dishes would be different and to explore the other items available on the buffet. They did confirm that a military discount is not offered at this establishment.
In stark contrast, another customer provided a highly negative review, labeling China Wok Buffet as "the worst buffet place ever." Their criticism focused on several aspects, including the quality and appearance of the food and the service they received. They specifically mentioned that the sushi did not look like sushi and that some of the food appeared to be leftovers from the previous day. This raises significant concerns about the freshness and presentation of the food offered at the buffet. Furthermore, this reviewer felt that the waitress was disproportionately attentive to a particular male customer, suggesting potential issues with equitable service. Adding to their negative experience, they noted the absence of chopsticks at the restaurant, which is a common utensil expected at a Chinese dining establishment.
Considering these two contrasting reviews, the experience at China Wok Buffet appears to be inconsistent. The first review highlights some positive aspects, such as the hot and flavorful soups and the availability of green onions, along with generally acceptable rice and side dishes. However, the issue of cold main dishes is a significant drawback. The reviewer's plan to return during peak hours suggests that the timing of the visit might impact the freshness and temperature of the food on the buffet line. The second review paints a much more concerning picture, alleging stale-looking food, questionable sushi, and subpar service, including a lack of basic dining utensils like chopsticks.
Given this conflicting feedback, local users in Fayetteville, NC, should approach China Wok Buffet with caution. While one customer found some aspects of their meal enjoyable and was willing to give it another try, the serious allegations made in the other review regarding food quality and service cannot be ignored. Potential diners might want to consider the time of their visit, as suggested by the first reviewer, to potentially improve the chances of encountering fresher food. However, the claims of old food and poor service raise red flags about the overall standards of the establishment.
As there is no information available regarding the restaurant's environment beyond being a buffet, nor any mention of specific features or promotional offers, potential customers must rely solely on these limited reviews. The inconsistency in customer experiences makes it difficult to provide a definitive assessment. Those who prioritize a wide variety of options at an affordable price might still be tempted to try a buffet, but the reported issues with food temperature, freshness, and service at China Wok Buffet should be carefully considered before making a decision. It might be advisable to seek more recent reviews or perhaps visit during peak dining hours to gauge the current quality and service for oneself.

On Sunday, it was my first time coming here to eat. It was around 4 pm between lunch and dinner time. The lady at the front greeted us and sat us in the booth. The food looked amazing and I decided to try a little bit of everything. I must say my absolute favorites are the piping hot egg drop and wonton soups. I love the fact, they have diced green onions available to add to the dishes. This is the first buffet that I have seen here that offers them. The steamed rice, green beans, pork fried rice are good. The broccoli and beef, the sesame chicken and chicken wings were on the cold side. I waited a little bit for some of the dishes to be refilled. The chicken wings were hot and fresh. I was too full from the soups to try anything else other than what is pictured. I would recommend giving them a try. I will definitely come back here right at lunch or dinner time to see if, my experience is different with the cold dishes that I had and to try the other items on the buffet. I did confirm there is not a military discount.
The worst buffet place ever. The sushi was not looking like sushi. Some food was looking like from yesterday. The waitress was more interested to serve the man than anybody else. They don't have chopsticks.
I could have at least been offered a refund after not causing a major scene.it crawled right back under there and the manager just took the plate it was on off the stack.
The orange chicken tasted days old, like it was warmed up and tossed in sauce. My shrimp fried rice is crunchy. The garlic chicken tastes tangy, definitely not like garlic chicken. I gave them a 2nd chance after several years and they still suck!
I order here all the time the Orange Chicken my favorite orange strips are in it they taste good and add a lot flavor I alway get no mushrooms and onions vegetable lo mein and you get good amount food the tea to go big in container love it I had the buffet before to and the Chinese(sugar donuts) are good to also order sesame chicken But the Orange Chicken still my favorite!!!!! Great polite service tooo !!!
