About China West

Welcome to China West, a Chinese restaurant situated at 1609 Harrison Ave SE in Port Orchard, WA 98366, USA. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant platform category, China West aims to provide local users with an authentic Chinese culinary experience. Located on Harrison Avenue SE, this establishment offers a variety of Chinese dishes, with some unique twists that have garnered positive attention from its customers.

China West can be contacted for orders or inquiries at (360) 871-7317 or through their mobile number at +1 360-871-7317. Feel free to call them to place an order, ask about their menu, or get information about their services.

One of the first things that might strike potential customers is the dual signage mentioned in a review, indicating "Mexican/Chinese." However, upon entering, customers are reportedly presented with a Chinese-only menu, unless specifically requesting a Mexican menu. This unusual combination might be intriguing or slightly confusing, but it's worth noting that the focus of the customer reviews is predominantly on the Chinese cuisine offered.

Despite the initial surprise regarding the menu offerings, customers seem to agree that the Chinese food at China West is "authentic and pretty good." This suggests that while the restaurant might have a broader culinary scope indicated outside, the quality of their Chinese dishes is a significant draw for patrons. For local users seeking genuine Chinese flavors in Port Orchard, China West appears to be a promising option.

Several specific dishes have received high praise. The egg rolls are described as "so yummy" and even "huge" by one reviewer, indicating that they are a must-try item. This suggests that China West takes pride in this classic appetizer, possibly offering a generous size and delicious filling that sets them apart.

The orange chicken is another standout dish, with one enthusiastic customer declaring their "love" for it. What makes China West's orange chicken unique is its sauce, which is described as a "housemade (differently unique) spicy type of orange sauce," unlike the typical overly sweet versions found elsewhere. This distinctive flavor profile is a significant feature of China West and a compelling reason for local users to try this particular dish. The reviewer also appreciates the option to have the sauce on the side for takeout, ensuring the deep-fried chicken remains crispy.

Beyond the orange chicken, the quality of the chicken in other preparations, such as sweet and sour, is also commended for being "cooked to perfection." The coating used is particularly noteworthy, and the fact that customers can taste the food and not the oil suggests that China West uses fresh oil, contributing to the overall quality and taste of their fried items.

The rice dishes at China West also come highly recommended. The shrimp fried rice, in particular, is praised for containing a "generous amount of shrimp." Customers have also enjoyed other fried rice variations, noting that they all include fresh vegetables. This indicates a consistent level of quality and freshness across their rice offerings, making them reliable choices as side dishes or as a main course.

In terms of service, one reviewer mentioned that their waiter seemed "upset and bothered," suggesting that service might occasionally be less than stellar. However, another reviewer consistently describes the staff as "always friendly," indicating that experiences might vary. It's worth noting that while food quality is a primary focus, friendly service can significantly enhance the dining experience.

A recurring theme in the reviews is the consistency and freshness of the food. One long-time customer mentions that they have been going to China West for decades for "comfort food" and that it has "only gotten better" over time. This longevity and continued improvement speak volumes about the restaurant's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. The chef is even described as "top-notch," further bolstering the reputation of the kitchen.

Price-wise, China West is considered "reasonable for a generous amount of food." This aligns with the earlier mention of large portions, suggesting that diners can expect good value for their money. The fact that the food "is great reheated" is also a practical benefit, especially for those who enjoy leftovers.

In summary, China West in Port Orchard offers a unique dining experience with its authentic Chinese cuisine and a surprising mention of a Mexican menu. The standout dishes, particularly the uniquely spiced orange chicken and the large egg rolls, along with the consistently praised fried rice, make it a compelling choice for local users craving Chinese food. The generous portions and reasonable prices add to the appeal. While there might be occasional inconsistencies in service, the overall quality of the food and the positive long-term customer experiences suggest that China West is a reliable and enjoyable Chinese restaurant in the area.

For local users in Port Orchard, China West presents an opportunity to savor well-prepared and flavorful Chinese dishes, including some unique offerings like their spicy orange chicken. The positive feedback regarding the authenticity, freshness, and generous portions makes it a strong contender for your next Chinese meal. While the dual signage might raise an eyebrow, the focus on delivering quality Chinese cuisine seems to be where China West truly shines. Exploring their menu beyond the well-praised items might reveal other hidden gems that cater to your tastes.

So the food was actually authentic and pretty good. I mean, yes it's Chinese. NO IT IS NOT MEXICAN. lol unless you ask for the Mexican menu. Outside there restraunt it says Mexican/ Chinese. You go in and the waiter gives you Chinese only menu. But that really through me off. Had me kinda irritated. Since it said one thing on there board but it was false advertising. Anyways, back to the food. The egg rolls so yummy, the orange chicken, was authentic and rice. Very good. Food was good. Service was okay, the waiter seemed upset and bothered. But a little smile would of did him a long way snd I'm sure it would help with the tips too

I'm in love with the orange chicken made here. It's not a typical (too sweet) sauce. It's a housemade (differently unique) spicy type of orange sauce. You can't get this anywhere else. I like the sauce on the side (for to-go) so the deep-fried chicken doesn't get soggy, and I dip the chicken in orange sauce. The chicken itself, sweet and sour, or orange chicken is cooked to perfection. I love whatever coating they use and you can tell the oil is fresh because you taste the food, not the oil. Also, recommend any of the rice dishes. We like shrimp fried rice and there's a generous amount of shrimp in this. We've had all the fried rice, all are good with fresh vegetables. The staff is always friendly and all the food is consistently good and made fresh. The Chef here is top-notch. 👍 We've been going here for decades for comfort food and it's only gotten better. Prices are reasonable for a generous amount of food that is great reheated. The egg rolls are huge!

food was awful. the shrimp was deformed and looked like it was microwaved. broth for wonton soup was heavily salted. the dining area wreaked of stale cigarettes. staff were polite, not friendly, not welcoming, just minimal. would not recommend or ever return. Old White Folks only for sure.

Food took a long time, nothing came out at the same time. when we asked about our chow mein he told us the cook just arrived and asked if we still wanted it. Egg drop soup to go was under cooked. Only had 1 server on restaurant side. Food ended up upsetting my wifes stomach landing her in the restroom all night. No music only loud noises from the bar down the hallway. Not recommended.

I fell in love with their deep fried pot stickers. What is that sweet sauce they serve with it. It was so yummy. I'm glad my bestie made me try one. Before you know it, they were gone. Always great dinner combo's and appetizers.
