About China Wall
China Wall, situated at 398 York St # 4 in Hanover, Pennsylvania, is a Chinese restaurant that has recently garnered significant negative attention based on online customer reviews. These reviews paint a concerning picture of the establishment, highlighting issues ranging from food quality and portion sizes to customer service and pricing. For local users in Hanover considering dining at or ordering from China Wall, it is crucial to be aware of this feedback.
One particularly scathing review begins by stating a broad dissatisfaction with Chinese food in Hanover, labeling every establishment as "awful." While acknowledging that China Wall is also "awful," the reviewer reluctantly notes that it is somehow better than the others, immediately clarifying that this is "not a compliment." This sets a grim tone for their experience.
The reviewer goes on to accuse the owners of being "scammers," a serious allegation. Their primary complaints revolve around the portion sizes, stating that the containers "barely have food in them." They further claim that the restaurant is "constantly trying to scam and give less and less," suggesting a pattern of diminishing portion sizes over time. Adding to these concerns is the reviewer's assessment of the food itself, which they describe as "flavorless." They speculate that the lack of seasoning might be an attempt to cater to a "white demographic," a comment laden with negative implications about the restaurant's culinary approach.
The reviewer offers several suggestions for improvement, including properly seasoning the food, using fresh ingredients, changing the cooking oil more frequently, and actually filling the containers to the expected level. They believe that addressing these issues could potentially attract more customers and improve the restaurant's profitability. The reviewer's experience culminated in a "last straw" incident involving a lunch special. They felt that the lunch special was deceptively priced, claiming that they received "$5 worth of food" but were charged $9, indicating a significant overcharge relative to the quantity provided.
Finally, this reviewer mentions a specific detail about the food presentation, noting that an egg roll, which should be wrapped separately, was tossed on top of the other items. They interpret this as a tactic to "hide the fact that they short you the food you pay for," further reinforcing their accusation of deceptive practices. This customer's overall experience was so negative that they vowed never to return to China Wall.
Another customer shared an equally negative experience, unequivocally labeling China Wall as "the worst Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to" and expressing a desire to give it zero stars if possible. Their complaint centered on a significant error in their order and the subsequent unprofessional handling of the issue by the staff.
This customer, who was dining inside the restaurant with their girlfriend, specifically requested white rice with their meal. Despite clearly stating this preference to the person taking their order, who initially mentioned that the chicken came with pork fried rice, the customer reiterated their desire for white rice and received verbal confirmation that their request was understood. However, upon receiving their order, they discovered that they had been given pork fried rice instead of the white rice they had explicitly asked for.
Upon returning to the restaurant to have the order corrected, the customer was met with "tension and frustration" from the staff member who had made the mistake. The customer expressed disbelief at the staff member's apparent upset over their own error. Adding to the negative interaction, the staff member then suggested that the customer simply combine the white rice (which they presumably brought out to rectify the mistake) with the pork fried rice to "make it all better." The customer found this suggestion illogical, humorously questioning how mixing white rice with pork fried rice would make the pork disappear, especially given potential dietary restrictions or preferences. They attributed the staff member's behavior to being under the influence of drugs and concluded that China Wall is "the worst spot in the city" and a "waste of money." This customer also mentioned having video evidence of the interaction, underscoring their dissatisfaction and the severity of the negative experience.
The consistent negativity in these two recent reviews paints a concerning picture of China Wall in Hanover, PA. The issues raised include potentially deceptive practices regarding portion sizes and pricing, poor food quality described as flavorless, and significant problems with order accuracy and customer service. The experiences shared by these customers suggest a high likelihood of dissatisfaction for others who might choose to patronize this establishment.
For local users in Hanover seeking a Chinese restaurant, the feedback for China Wall is overwhelmingly negative and should be carefully considered. The accusations of scamming, consistently small portions, flavorless food, and unprofessional handling of order errors are serious red flags. While it is always possible for individual experiences to vary, the consistency and severity of these complaints suggest systemic issues at China Wall.
Given the nature of the feedback, it would be difficult to identify any positive features or services based on these reviews. The environment is not mentioned in a positive light, and the service is explicitly criticized. There is no indication of any promotional offers; instead, one reviewer felt that the lunch special was a deceptive practice.
In conclusion, the recent online reviews for China Wall in Hanover, PA, are overwhelmingly negative, citing significant problems with food quality, portion sizes, pricing, and customer service. Local users are strongly advised to consider this feedback when making decisions about dining at or ordering from this restaurant, as the experiences described suggest a high risk of dissatisfaction.

Customer Reviews
Hanover has the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Every last one is awful. This place is awful but somehow better than the others which is not a compliment. The owners are scammers. They containers barely have food in them. They are constantly trying to scam and give less in less and the food isn’t good. It is flavorless and I’m not sure if they are attempting to placate the white demographics but it needs to stop. Maybe if they actually seasoned the food, have fresh food, changed their oil more, and actually filled the containers they would get more customers and make money. Today was my last straw. They act like they are giving you a deal with the lunch special but they are ripping you off. They put about half the amount that they should. They give you $5 worth of food and charge $9. And it’s the small things like sticking the eggroll that should be wrapped separately gets tossed on top to hide the fact that they short you the food you pay for.
the worst Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to. Wish I could give this 0 stars. Me and my girlfriend were inside and I specifically asked for white rice. the person taking my order said “the chicken comes with pork fried rice” I said okay, but I would like white rice. She repeated it and said okay. Confirming that I wanted white rice right? NO. I was given pork fried rice with my meal and when I got back to the restaurant to get it fixed, I was met with tension and frustration from her messing my order up. The audacity for her to be upset. Lol She then asked me to combine the white rice and pork fried rice together to make it all better. In what universe would me combining white rice and pork fried rice make the pork disappear? I don’t know what kind of drugs she’s on but this is the worst spot in the city, waste of money. I have this all on video.
Where TF is the white meat chicken I paid more for? Shreds of dredged chicken and more flour than chicken. Tempted to call police since I was robbed. Cost cutting is understandable but I paid for half a bunch of broccoli and a cup and a half of flour. I'm angry
I’m very disappointed with the general Tso chicken dinner… chicken was super tough and the broccoli was raw…. I love this place, but not tonight
Amazing food. We just moved to the area, my husband is a Marine and we've been everywhere and haven't had good Chinese food in years until today. Quick delivery, fantastic shrimp and broccoli. Shanghai spring roll was on point. Excited to be able to eat here regularly.
