About China Wall Chinese Restaurant

Welcome to China Wall Chinese Restaurant, located at 989 Hardy Rd in Vinton, Virginia (24179, USA). As a local establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, China Wall offers a variety of dining options, including a notable lunch buffet. You can contact them at (540) 342-0065 or +1 540-342-0065 for inquiries.

Customer reviews of China Wall Chinese Restaurant present a somewhat mixed picture, with positive feedback regarding the buffet and some concerns about food freshness during less busy times, as well as the friendliness of the waitstaff and the overall atmosphere. One reviewer noted that the food is "fresh and good if you go when busy," implying that the high turnover of dishes during peak hours contributes to better quality. Conversely, this reviewer observed that "if it isn't too busy the food doesn't get turned over as much and isn't the best," suggesting a potential inconsistency in food freshness depending on the restaurant's traffic.

The same reviewer also commented on the waitresses, describing their friendliness as "hit and miss," indicating that the quality of service might vary. Furthermore, they mentioned that "the atmosphere and some of the people who go there are not so friendly," adding a note of caution about the overall dining environment. This reviewer's subjective comment about taking children to public places seems unrelated to the restaurant itself but is part of their overall experience as shared.

In contrast, another reviewer had a more positive experience, specifically highlighting the "pretty good lunch buffet for a reasonable price," noting that it is "a lot cheaper than Roanoke Chinese buffets!" This suggests that China Wall might offer a more budget-friendly option compared to similar establishments in the nearby Roanoke area. The variety of food available on the buffet was also praised, with the reviewer mentioning "lots of variety, including American dishes such as corn pudding, fried potatoes, stuffed green peppers and motzerella cheese sticks in addition to Americanized Chinese dishes, salad bar, and desserts." This diverse selection, including both Chinese-American and American comfort food staples, along with a salad bar and desserts, could appeal to a wide range of tastes and preferences.

This second reviewer found the service to be "good" and the staff "friendly," which contradicts the "hit and miss" experience reported by the first reviewer, indicating a potential inconsistency in service or varying perceptions among customers. A unique and unexpected feature mentioned was "an awesome aquarium with baby starfish," which the reviewer humorously noted was "not in the menu!" This suggests a potentially interesting and visually appealing element of the restaurant's décor that could be a talking point or a source of amusement for diners, especially families. The reviewer concluded by recommending China Wall as "a good place for when you want to get alot to eat that's a little different," likely referring to the combination of Chinese and American dishes on the buffet.

Considering these reviews, the environment of China Wall Chinese Restaurant appears to be somewhat variable in terms of atmosphere. While one reviewer found it potentially unfriendly, another did not comment negatively on the ambiance and highlighted a unique aquarium as a positive visual element. The cleanliness and overall comfort of the dining area are not explicitly detailed in either review. Potential customers might want to manage their expectations regarding the atmosphere and focus more on the food and service aspects.

The services offered by China Wall Chinese Restaurant include a lunch buffet, which seems to be a popular option, particularly for its variety and affordability compared to other local buffets. They also offer standard dine-in service, as implied by the first reviewer's comments about waitresses. Takeout service is not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, but it is a common offering for Chinese restaurants, so it is likely available. Delivery service is not mentioned in the provided text.

Features of China Wall Chinese Restaurant include a reasonably priced and varied lunch buffet that includes both American and Americanized Chinese dishes, as well as a salad bar and desserts. The presence of an aquarium with baby starfish is a unique and memorable feature of the restaurant's décor. The food is reported to be fresh and good during busy times, suggesting a focus on turnover and potentially quality during peak hours. However, the freshness might be a concern during less busy periods. The friendliness of the waitstaff seems to be inconsistent based on the reviews.

No specific promotional information is mentioned in the provided customer reviews. Buffets themselves can be seen as a form of promotion, offering a wide variety of food at a set price. To learn about any other potential specials, discounts, or ongoing promotions at China Wall Chinese Restaurant, it would be best to contact them directly at (540) 342-0065 or +1 540-342-0065. Local restaurants often have daily specials or seasonal promotions that might not be reflected in general reviews.

In conclusion, China Wall Chinese Restaurant in Vinton, VA, offers a notable lunch buffet with a wide variety of American and Chinese-American dishes at a reasonable price, potentially more affordable than buffets in nearby Roanoke. A unique feature is an aquarium with baby starfish. However, food freshness might be inconsistent depending on how busy the restaurant is, and the friendliness of the waitstaff and the overall atmosphere have received mixed feedback. Potential customers looking for an affordable buffet with a diverse selection might find China Wall appealing, but they should be aware of the potential for variability in food quality and service based on the restaurant's traffic. For the most current information on their services, hours, and any promotions, contacting China Wall directly is recommended.

Food is fresh and good if you go when busy. I have noticed if it isn't too busy the food doesn't get turned over as much and isn't the best. The waitresses can be hit and miss with friendliness. The atmosphere and some of the people who go there are no so friendly. God forbid you take children to public places.

Pretty good lunch buffet for a reasonable price. (a lot cheaper than Roanoke Chinese buffets!). Lots off variety, including American dishes such as corn pudding, fried potatoes, stuffed green peppers and motzerella cheese sticks in addition to Americanized Chinese dishes, salad bar, and desserts. Service was good and all were friendly! Has an awesome aquarium with baby starfish, but they're not in the menu! A good place for when you want to get alot to eat that's a little different.

I have not been to a place this bad in a long long time. The wanton soup tasted like old mop water and smelled horrible. Same with the egg drop soup. And it just went downhill from there. Needles to say we did not consume anything just tasted stuff trying to find something edible. The place should be closed and the owners put in jail.

I was surprised with this buffet! I had visited before and ordered a la carte and menu items. They were very good. So I tried the Buffet. Very good for the price! Steamed shrimp and mussels with available red sauce, and real HOT mustard mixed, is just awesome. They have what ever you want on the buffet including desserts. Every thing I tried was delicious. For the value here, I must give 5 stars. Try it, when you have some time to relax and enjoy. I added photos instead of listing the many choices, and there are more choices than my photos :-)

I've been coming to China Wall since I was a kid. Chinese food is a guilty pleasure! The food has always been amazing, and if I ever want more of something, it's brought out promptly. Cheap but yummy takeout and a killer buffet! I'm giving four stars because the staff isn't very friendly. They never have been! But I only go to eat, and I'll be friendly anyways!
