About China Village

China Village is a Chinese Restaurant located at 703 W Illinois Ave, Dallas, TX 75224, USA. They can be contacted at (214) 942-1850 or +1 214-942-1850.

According to one long-standing customer of approximately 15 years, China Village is considered the best Chinese food in "The Cliff" neighborhood. This reviewer highlights that the food is prepared fresh in an open kitchen, with a generous amount of freshly chopped vegetables in every dish and no skimping on the meat. They also praise the friendly owners who greet everyone warmly. Described as a classic "hole in the wall" place, China Village focuses on friendly, fast service at great prices with generous portions and a loyal regular customer base. The reviewer notes that customers should not expect fancy decor or a 5-star wait staff, as the emphasis is on the food and service quality at an affordable price.

However, a more recent review expresses a severe negative experience. This customer states they found a dead roach in their food and had previously seen insects inside the restaurant. While they received a refund, they found the presence of insects in the food and establishment unacceptable and felt it necessary to warn others. This reviewer also mentioned a change in ownership, suggesting that the previous owners maintained better hygiene standards.

In summary, China Village has received positive feedback from a long-term customer regarding the quality and freshness of the food, generous portions, affordable prices, and friendly service from the owners. However, a recent and serious complaint about finding a dead roach in the food and observing insects in the restaurant raises significant concerns about the current hygiene standards of the establishment. Potential customers should consider both perspectives when deciding whether to dine at China Village.

My family and I have been patronizing this little gem for probably 15 years now, and we think it is the best Chinese food in "The Cliff"! The food is prepared in an open kitchen when you order it, and you can see the cook doing it. ALL the veggies are chopped FRESH daily and there are LOTS of them in everything you order. No skimping on the meat, either! The owners are friendly, and greet everyone with a smile! Just what you'd expect from a little classic hole in the wall place! Great food at great prices for generous portions! Don't expect a lot of fancy decor or a 5 star wait staff. Their focus is on friendly, fast service at great prices, and they have lots of regulars. Truly a hidden gem!

If I could give them zero stars I would. I found a dead roach sitting at the bottom of my food today and I've seen them inside the restaurant as well. I was refunded my money but insects of that nature...in food? It is unacceptable and I would be wrong for not saying something about it and warning others not to eat here. If you do, buyer beware. The elderly owners that were here before I never had this problem but the new owners have I'm sure have let this go on for quite some time. I'm sorry but somebody has to say something to keep the public safe if they aren't going to do it.

The best fried rice ever. The best egg rolls ever. My only complaint is they are not open on a regular schedule. It's hit and miss so call before going. Other than that the food tastes awesome and they give you a lot of food.

I absolutely love the food from this place. I tried the Hot Chicken today and was a bit scared that it would be too spicy but was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't. Today I also found out that the lady who usually takes my order with such a pleasant smile was the only one working back there. She didn't have that haggard look or give shortened responses when taking orders. She went about her business and made that food like I was part of her family. Small businesses like this are a gem and I recommend it whole heartedly. Make sure to try their fried rice and lo mein.

Menu is cooked to order so expect a small wait. Otherwise, food tastes great. Seasoned so well that I didn't even have to use soy sauce... Update January 2019.. Unfortunately permanently closed. I'm very sad discovering this because I've been visiting this place since the early 90's. Life ain't fair!
