About China Uno
Welcome to China Uno, your local Chinese restaurant situated at 308 Village Walk by Dr, Holly Springs, NC 27540, USA. As a Chinese restaurant serving the Holly Springs community, we aim to provide a variety of Chinese culinary options for local residents and visitors. Whether you're looking for a quick takeout meal or a casual dine-in experience, China Uno offers services to meet your needs.
Based on the available customer reviews, China Uno offers a modest dine-in space that is described as being "just a step above a standard takeout spot." The interior is functional but not particularly inviting, providing a basic area for customers who prefer to eat at the restaurant. However, one visiting customer noted that the dine-in side could accommodate approximately 12-15 different parties and observed that the waitress was familiar with many of the dine-in customers, suggesting a regular local clientele. This indicates a friendly and perhaps community-oriented atmosphere for those who choose to dine in. The same visitor also noted that the staff at the register knew their customers and engaged in brief conversations, further supporting the idea of a welcoming environment for repeat diners. While the overall atmosphere might be basic, the personal interactions seem to be a positive aspect for dine-in customers.
China Uno offers standard takeout service, as indicated by one reviewer's mention of it being an "average spot offering typical menu options, basic dine-in space, and standard takeout service." Additionally, another customer from out of town observed a steady stream of customers coming in for takeout orders, suggesting that this is a popular service. The online ordering process and website were noted as being "slightly cumbersome" by one reviewer, which might be a point to consider for those planning to order online. However, the availability of online ordering does provide a convenient option for some customers. The friendly demeanor of the staff was also highlighted, suggesting a positive service interaction whether dining in or picking up an order.
As a Chinese restaurant, the primary feature of China Uno is its menu of Chinese cuisine, which is described as offering "typical menu options" with a standard size and variety. One reviewer provided specific feedback on several dishes. The General Gau Chicken was rated below average (4.3/10), with comments on a very mild and flavorless sauce and the use of dark meat chicken that lacked expected crunch. The Pork Fried Rice received an average rating (5.1/10), described as a dependable but unremarkable option. The Crab Rangoon also received an average rating (5.1/10), with the filling being acceptable but the wonton wrapper being firmer than preferred. In contrast to these average to below-average ratings for specific dishes, a visiting customer reported that their chicken fried rice was "delicious." This suggests that while some dishes might be considered standard or even lacking, others could be more enjoyable, and individual preferences may vary.
Based on the customer reviews, China Uno appears to be a local Chinese restaurant that caters to both takeout and dine-in customers. A significant feature seems to be the friendly and familiar interaction between the staff and repeat customers, particularly on the dine-in side. While the dine-in atmosphere is modest, it serves as a functional space for those who prefer to eat at the restaurant. The takeout service is also popular, although the online ordering experience could be improved. The menu offers typical Chinese dishes, with some receiving average ratings and others, like the chicken fried rice mentioned by one reviewer, being considered delicious. The General Gau Chicken was specifically noted as being below average in flavor and texture.
One reviewer mentioned that the prices were "fair for what was offered," suggesting that the cost of the food is reasonable relative to the quality and portion sizes. However, no specific promotional information, such as discounts, specials, or loyalty programs, was mentioned in the provided reviews. Chinese restaurants often offer lunch specials or combination deals, so it might be worth contacting China Uno directly at (919) 557-9888 or +1 919-557-9888 to inquire about any current promotions or special offers that might be available to local customers. Checking their website or any online ordering platforms they use might also provide information on deals or featured dishes.
In conclusion, China Uno in Holly Springs, NC, presents itself as an average local Chinese restaurant offering a standard menu, basic dine-in facilities, and typical takeout service. A notable aspect is the friendly interaction between the staff and repeat customers, especially for those dining in. While some dishes, like the General Gau Chicken, received below-average feedback, others, such as the chicken fried rice, were praised. The prices are considered fair. Customers looking for a no-frills local Chinese dining option with a friendly atmosphere for regulars might find China Uno suitable. However, those seeking exceptional or particularly flavorful dishes might want to consider the mixed reviews on specific menu items. For the most up-to-date information on their menu, services, and any potential promotions, contacting China Uno directly is recommended.

Customer Reviews
Overall Score: 4.8/10 – A very average spot offering typical menu options, basic dine-in space, and standard takeout service with nothing that stands out. Atmosphere and Service: 5.2/10 – The interior is modest, just a step above a standard takeout spot with a small dine-in area. The space is functional but not particularly inviting. The people working there seemed friendly, and the prices were fair for what was offered. The online ordering process and website were slightly cumbersome, and the menu was standard in both size and variety. General Gau Chicken: 4.3/10 – A below-average dish with a very mild sauce that lacked flavor. The chicken included dark meat and didn’t have the expected crunch, which took away from the texture and overall appeal. Pork Fried Rice: 5.1/10 – A basic, average rice dish. It wasn’t bad, but there was nothing special about it either. A dependable but unremarkable option. Crab Rangoon: 5.1/10 – Just average overall. The filling was fine, but the wonton wrapper was firmer than expected, making it less enjoyable than it could have been.
So there are two sides to this place. One is for the take out and one for dine in. I am visiting from out of town and the customers were coming in about every minute or two. The dine in side has a place for about 12-15 different parties. The waitress was familiar with most of her dine in customers. So they were mostly repeat customers. The people at the register also knew their customers and would frequently talk with them for a few minutes. It was very organized yet super friendly. I had chicken fried rice and it was delicious.
We got dumplings, lo mein, fried rice, sesame chicken, and chicken with brocolli. The dumplings were very good! So was the lo mein and sesame chicken. The chicken with brocolli wasnt very good though so wont get that next time
I typically love this place. Like honestly it was my favorite. The past two times I have ordered it's like they use the same sauce for different dishes. I ordered chicken with garlic sauce and sesame chicken and they both came with RED SAUCE. Like what? Red sauce? The rice tastes stale and old like it was from yesterdays batch. Pretty disappointed. I hope they can turn things around.
We usually get takeout from here, have yet to eat in, but it’s a nice little place. Food is good and the staff are super nice. They once gave me a free drink when I was picking up lunch because it was really hot out. They often throw in the sugar donut things too no charge.
