About China Town

Welcome to China Town, your local destination for Chinese cuisine in Wichita, Kansas. Situated at 327 N Hillside St, China Town aims to provide a convenient and accessible option for those seeking a taste of traditional Chinese flavors. As a Chinese Restaurant, China Town operates within the platform category dedicated to offering a variety of Chinese dishes and related services to the local community.

China Town offers multiple service options to cater to different preferences. Whether you prefer to dine in and experience the restaurant's atmosphere, grab a quick takeout meal to enjoy at home, or take advantage of their fast delivery service for ultimate convenience, China Town strives to accommodate your needs. You can easily place your order by calling them at (316) 651-5500 or +1 316-651-5500.

Based on initial customer feedback, China Town appears to be in the process of establishing its reputation within the local dining scene. One reviewer expressed enthusiasm, noting that China Town serves as an "excellent replacement" for a previously closed establishment. This customer highlighted the "good cheap food and fast delivery" as key positives. They also mentioned the generous portion sizes of the combo meals, suggesting they are suitable for more than one serving, making it a potentially economical choice for families or individuals looking for leftovers. This reviewer characterized the food as "good classic homemade Chinese food" offered at a favorable price point, emphasizing value and traditional flavors.

However, other customer experiences present a more varied perspective. One review detailed a less satisfactory experience with specific dishes. The customer ordered General Tso's chicken and wonton dumplings. Their feedback indicated that the food did not taste "homemade" to them, suggesting the use of pre-prepared components like "frozen breaded chicken chunks." While acknowledging this was "okay," they found the chicken and rice to be lacking in flavor, specifically noting the presence of black pepper in the breading but an overall bland taste, even with the addition of soy sauce. The General Tso's sauce was described as sweet with no discernible spice, despite being advertised as spicy.

Further criticisms from this reviewer included the texture of the rice, which was described as "mushy" but not overcooked, potentially due to being unwashed. The wonton dumplings received particularly negative feedback, being described as "overcooked and very hard." The filling, purported to be pork, was indistinguishable in flavor and was noted to be "incredibly bland" and "incredibly greasy." While this customer did not entirely dislike the chicken and rice, they strongly disliked the wonton. Overall, they concluded the experience was not "horrible" but expressed concerns that the blandness of the food might indicate it being old, though they also acknowledged the possibility of simply lacking seasoning. They did commend the politeness of the front desk person.

The reviewer's partner offered a numerical rating of 6 out of 10 for the General Tso's chicken and a 0 out of 10 for the wonton. Notably, the sweet and sour sauce was identified as the most flavorful item. The prices were considered "not bad," but the concern about the food's blandness potentially being linked to age was reiterated. The reviewer indicated a possibility of trying China Town again in the future to see if their experience improves and promised to update their review accordingly.

Based on these initial reviews, it appears that China Town is still finding its footing and may exhibit some inconsistencies in its food quality and preparation. While some customers appreciate the value, portion sizes, and fast delivery, others have raised concerns about the flavor, texture, and perceived freshness of certain dishes. The service at the front desk seems to be a consistent positive aspect mentioned in the feedback.

For local users in Wichita, Kansas, considering China Town, it might be prudent to approach with tempered expectations. If you are looking for affordable and generously portioned classic Chinese dishes with the convenience of delivery, China Town could be an option worth exploring. The positive feedback regarding the value and delivery speed suggests these are potential strengths. However, the more critical reviews regarding the flavor and preparation of specific items, such as the General Tso's chicken and wonton dumplings, should also be taken into consideration.

As a relatively new establishment or one undergoing changes (as suggested by the reference to a previous restaurant closing), China Town may be in a phase of refinement. It is possible that the quality and consistency of their offerings will improve over time. Local users who value supporting new businesses or are seeking budget-friendly options might consider trying China Town and forming their own opinions. Given the mixed feedback, it might be advisable to start with some of the more positively reviewed aspects, such as the combo meals and delivery service, and perhaps inquire about the preparation methods or freshness of specific dishes when ordering.

China Town's location at 327 N Hillside St makes it accessible to residents in the surrounding areas of Wichita. The availability of both dine-in and takeout options provides flexibility for different dining preferences. The provision of a phone number, (316) 651-5500 or +1 316-651-5500, facilitates easy ordering and inquiries. As more customers experience China Town and provide feedback, a clearer picture of its strengths and areas for improvement will emerge. For now, local users are encouraged to consider the available information and perhaps try a selection of dishes to determine if China Town meets their expectations for Chinese cuisine in Wichita.

It is important to note that online reviews can be subjective and reflect individual experiences. The feedback presented here offers a snapshot of some customers' initial impressions. We love this place! We were sad when Fuji's closed but this place has been an excellent replacement. Always good cheap food and fast delivery. Portion sizes on the combos are easily good for 2+ meals as well. Don't expect some fancy food but if you want good classic homemade Chinese food for a good price, this is it.

We ordered general tsos and some wonton dumplings. The food doesn't taste homemade, it tastes like just some frozen breaded chicken chunks were used. which is okay. But the chicken and rice had no flavor. What stood out was black pepper in the breading. We used soy sauce and it didn't even taste salty. Just very bland food. The tso sauce is not bad, they said it was spicy but there is no spice whatsoever, it's just sweet. The rice tastes mushy but is not overcooked, I think just unwashed. The wontons were very strange. They were overcooked and very hard. They were supposed to be pork, and when I bit into it I couldn't tell what I was eating. It is incredibly bland, no flavor whatsoever and incredibly greasy. I didn't hate the chicken and rice but I did not like the wonton. Overall I would say it wasnt horrible. My partner felt like the general tso was 6 out of 10, and the wonton 0 out of 10. The most flavorful thing was the sweet and sour sauce. Not bad prices but usually when food is very bland like this it is old, that's my fear. But it could just be absolutely no seasoning. I cannot tell honestly. The front desk person was polite. We may try some other time and see if it's any better and if we do I will update my review.

You all complain waaaaay too much. This place is awesome! It has some of the typical issues a lower priced Chinese restaurant would have, but it also has most of the great parts! There is no perfect Chinese place. Some have chicken that's overcooked. Some have bad soy sauce. Some sell everybody's favorite dish EXCEPT the pickiest family member. This place apparently lacks the iconic peas & carrots in their fried rice, and my honey chicken didn't have wilted broccoli. So now y'all like veggies?!? I digress.. The portions are fabulous! I pulled a whole bowl of noodles out of my SHRIMP Singapore noodles and the container was still PACKED full! I got 4 servings out of a $12 dish. It wasn't overflowing with shrimp, but for American grocery prices it was plenty. They also allow you to customize!!!! Most places don't do that. Their delivery is pretty expensive, but still much cheaper than you would pay on doordash after all the added fees and higher prices. They offer a wide array of foods and it's really good! They offer all the favorites. The donuts were good. They offer steamed or fried pot stickers with a tasty sauce. The Singapore noodles were well seasoned. The honey chicken sauce was the best flavor I've had. None of their sauces were that watered down stuff most places serve to save money. I ordered extra sweet n sour because most places give a tiny cup with their Rangoon. They gave a huge cup! It wasn't the best rangoon but definitely not the worst. I had some trouble ordering and had to call for help. The staff are actually really nice and helpful! Definitely my new favorite place! As long as you're expecting a typical multi dish Chinese place then you should be pretty happy. People in these reviews are expecting caviar priced food on a McDonald's budget. With how expensive food is, they are doing a wonderful job of providing delicious food for a good value! For that I give 5 stars! Thank you China Town! I will be back!

The food was Average. Ordered Generals Tso. Chicken was pretty chewy and stringy and it taste like they fried it with shrimp or another seafood. For 12.99 there are about a dozen places I would recommend over this place for less money.
