About China Town Chinese Restaurant
China Town Chinese Restaurant, located at 2608 N Main St, Conway, SC 29526, USA, serves as a local Chinese restaurant offering a range of standard Chinese-American dishes. Situated in Conway, South Carolina, China Town Chinese Restaurant can be contacted at (843) 488-5252 or through their mobile number +1 843-488-5252 for inquiries and orders. Based on recent customer feedback, the establishment appears to function predominantly as a take-out restaurant, with limited and basic facilities for dining in.
One customer, who visited with their spouse and friends on a date night, noted that upon arrival, China Town Chinese Restaurant strongly conveyed a "take and go" vibe rather than being a place for a relaxed sit-down meal. The interior was described as "dingy" and featured a row of "forlorn padded booths" that were seemingly being used for storage, with boxes of restaurant supplies encroaching upon the seating area. Additionally, the presence of a non-operating soda machine and a simple order counter further reinforced the impression of a primarily take-out oriented business. This reviewer explicitly stated that customers should not expect any counter-to-table service if they choose to eat in after ordering, as it is a self-service experience.
Given the initial impression of the environment, the reviewer and their group opted for take-out, a decision they readily agreed upon based on the observed conditions. Their order included a Combination Dinner featuring General Tso’s Chicken with fried pork rice and an egg roll. They also ordered an extra egg roll, which they shared between two people. The serving amount of the combination dinner was deemed sufficient for two adults. In terms of taste, the overall flavor was reported as "good with a bit of heat." However, the texture of the breaded chicken was noted as being "a bit tough, chewier." The fried rice was described as "standard," and the egg rolls were characterized as "crispy savory rolls with shredded cabbage inside and deep fried." While the food was considered "doable," the reviewer concluded that it was "probably not worth a retry," suggesting a lack of distinctiveness or high quality.
Another customer shared a less favorable experience, focusing on the quality of specific dishes. They mentioned that while the food "looks good," the Shrimp Fried Rice "Tasted bland." To compensate for the lack of flavor, this customer reported adding a significant amount of condiments, including four packs of soy sauce and two packs of duck sauce. Furthermore, they found the Pepper Steak to have a "weird smell" and were unable to finish it. This review raises concerns about the flavor and quality of certain menu items, indicating a potential lack of consistency in food preparation.
Considering these two recent customer reviews, a mixed picture emerges regarding China Town Chinese Restaurant. One customer found the combination meal to be acceptable in terms of taste and portion size for a take-out option, albeit with some textural issues with the chicken. However, they were not impressed enough to warrant a return visit, partly due to the unappealing dine-in environment. The other review highlighted significant issues with the flavor of the shrimp fried rice and the smell of the pepper steak, leading to an inability to consume the latter.
Based on the description provided, the environment of China Town Chinese Restaurant appears to be basic and not conducive to a pleasant dine-in experience. The "dingy interior," the use of booths for storage, and the non-operational soda machine suggest a lack of investment in creating a comfortable ambiance for on-site dining. The emphasis seems to be heavily on fulfilling take-out orders. The service, at least for dine-in customers, appears to be minimal, with no counter-to-table service provided.
The features of China Town Chinese Restaurant, as gleaned from the reviews, include a standard menu of Chinese-American dishes, with options like General Tso’s Chicken, fried rice (pork and shrimp varieties mentioned), egg rolls, and pepper steak. The portion sizes, at least for the combination dinner, seem to be generous enough for sharing. However, the quality and flavor of these dishes appear to be inconsistent, with some being described as bland or having textural issues.
There is no information available in the provided reviews regarding any specific promotional offers or unique features of China Town Chinese Restaurant. Local users interested in knowing about any specials or what might set this restaurant apart from others in the area would need to inquire directly. The focus of the reviews is primarily on the food and the dine-in environment, neither of which received overwhelmingly positive feedback.
In conclusion, China Town Chinese Restaurant in Conway, SC, appears to be primarily a take-out oriented establishment with basic and somewhat uninviting dine-in facilities. Customer reviews indicate that while some dishes may be acceptable in terms of taste and portion size, there are concerns regarding food quality, flavor, and texture. The bland shrimp fried rice and the odd-smelling pepper steak reported by one customer are particularly concerning. The unappealing interior further detracts from any potential dine-in experience. Local users seeking a comfortable dine-in Chinese restaurant or consistently high-quality food may want to consider these recent experiences. For those primarily looking for a convenient take-out option and are willing to potentially compromise on ambiance and food consistency, China Town Chinese Restaurant remains an available choice. However, it would be prudent to manage expectations based on the recent feedback received.

Customer Reviews
Date night with the Mrs. and friends got us shopping for Chinese. China Town Chinese Restaurant was our point of destination and arriving there got the strong vibe that it was more of a take and go, then sit down. Dingy interior with a row of forlorn padded booths that were slowly being taken over by boxes of restaurant supplies. A non-operating soda machine and an order counter. Don’t expect any counter to table service if you decide to stay after you order as you are on your own. Friend suggested takeout and we readily agreed. Our Combination Dinner was General Tso’s Chicken with fried pork rice and egg roll. We order an extra egg roll and my wife and I shared. Serving amount easily fed the two of us and overall taste was good with a bit of heat. Texture of breaded chicken was a bit tough, chewier. Standard fried rice and egg rolls were crispy savory rolls with shredded cabbage inside and deep fried. Food was doable but probably not worth a retry.
Looks good but Shrimp Fried rice Tasted bland. I added 4 packs of soy sauce and 2 packs of duck sauce. The pepper steak had a weird smell. I couldn't finish it.
A few employees from our office ordered Sesame Chicken, Honey Chicken, Boneless spare ribs, Lo mein and Fried rice, however we couldn't be less satisfied. Every meat that was ordered was very tough, the rice was a bit scorched and the lo mein had a HORRIBLE smell coming from it. We are very disappointed that our lunch was ruined more so because this isn't the first time we had a bad experience here. We will not be returning and I hope that you all get better at preparing your meals because it's a shame the amount of money that was spent just for us to toss the food out. The young man at the counter however was very pleasant to deal with.
Caught them over charging me by 6$ order was 38.66 I transferred 40$ to my available balance. Card was declined 3 times she said "maybe you add more money" I said i SHOULDN'T have to. Wound up transferring to 48$ and my card said that they charger me 44$ receipt says 38 my bank statement says 44! Keep a eye on your purchases guys!!
Ordered 58 bucks worth of food, didn't get any of the white rice, but worst of all the chicken fried rice had raw chicken, it looked uncooked and upon tearing a piece apart, it was raw. Last time I spend my hard earned money here
