About China Town Chinese Restaurant

China Town Chinese Restaurant is located at 82 3rd St in Estill, South Carolina, serving the local community as a Chinese restaurant offering a variety of dishes. Based on recent customer feedback, the restaurant presents a somewhat contradictory profile, with positive remarks regarding food taste and service juxtaposed with a serious and concerning hygiene incident.

One positive review indicates that China Town Chinese Restaurant has improved over time, with the customer expressing happiness in returning to eat there. This reviewer specifically praised the "5 different combinations of rice and chicken wings" they had tried, describing them as a "bust down," implying they were exceptionally delicious. This suggests that the restaurant has the ability to prepare flavorful and satisfying versions of these popular menu items. The same reviewer also noted a significant increase in price over the years but still deemed the food "so worth it," indicating a perceived value despite the higher cost.

Furthermore, this positive review highlighted the friendliness of the workers, mentioning that they "make cute jokes while you wait." This suggests a pleasant and engaging atmosphere for customers who choose to wait for their orders inside the restaurant. The reviewer also appreciated the efforts made by the staff to ensure safety from COVID-19, noting that "They go the extra mile in keeping you plus themselves safe." This indicates a proactive approach to health and safety protocols, which can be a significant factor in customer comfort and trust.

However, a starkly contrasting and deeply concerning review details a severely negative experience that led to the customer vowing never to return. This review recounts a disturbing incident where the customer witnessed a cook "standing over my food actually BLOWING HIS NOSE!!" while waiting for their order inside the restaurant. The reviewer further stated that the cook continued fixing the food without washing his hands. This is a significant breach of hygiene standards and poses a serious health risk to customers.

The customer understandably expressed their disgust to a staff member, who was described as "very apologetic." The staff member reportedly shouted at the cook to stop, stating angrily, "You Do That All the Time!!" This alarming admission from a staff member suggests that the witnessed behavior might not have been an isolated incident, raising broader concerns about the hygiene practices within the kitchen of China Town Chinese Restaurant.

The customer who witnessed this incident was understandably repulsed and stated that it would be their "final time going in there," vowing never to patronize the establishment again. The fact that the restaurant readily provided a refund, while appropriate given the circumstances, does not negate the severity of the hygiene violation witnessed. The reviewer concluded their feedback with a "Buyer Beware," strongly cautioning potential future customers.

Based on these two reviews, China Town Chinese Restaurant presents a complex and potentially risky proposition for local users. On one hand, there are positive aspects such as reportedly delicious rice and chicken wing combinations, friendly and engaging service, and attention to COVID-19 safety measures. These elements could appeal to customers looking for tasty food and a pleasant interaction with staff.

On the other hand, the detailed account of a cook blowing his nose over a customer's food and then continuing to handle it without washing hands is an extremely serious hygiene violation. The staff member's reported comment that this behavior is habitual further amplifies the concern. This single incident could understandably deter a significant number of potential customers, as it raises fundamental questions about the cleanliness and food safety practices within the restaurant's kitchen.

Given the severity of the hygiene issue reported, it overshadows the positive feedback regarding food taste and service. While some customers may have had positive experiences, the risk associated with potential unsanitary food handling practices is a significant factor that local users should consider. The incident described is not just a minor oversight but a potentially harmful behavior that directly impacts food safety.

As the provided information is limited to these two contrasting reviews, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive overview of the restaurant's environment, other services, or any promotional information. The stark contrast between the positive comments about food and service and the deeply concerning hygiene report creates a significant dilemma for potential customers. While the price increase was noted by one reviewer, the more pressing issue is the potential lack of adherence to basic food safety standards.

For local users in Estill, SC, considering China Town Chinese Restaurant, it is essential to be aware of both the positive and negative feedback. The reports of tasty rice and chicken wings and friendly service might be appealing. However, the detailed account of a severe hygiene violation in the kitchen is a critical factor that cannot be ignored. Potential customers will need to weigh these contrasting aspects and decide on their comfort level regarding the reported food safety practices. It might be prudent to seek more recent reviews or even observe the restaurant's practices firsthand if possible before making a decision to patronize China Town Chinese Restaurant.

They have definitely come a long way, and I'm happy to say I'm back eating here. I've had about 5 different combinations of rice and chicken wings, and they've all been a bust down! The price has doubled in the years since I've last been here, but so worth it. Also, the workers are very friendly and make cute jokes while you wait. They go the extra mile in keeping you plus themselves safe from COVID. Can't wait to come back 🤞🏻❤️

I was a regular customer until last week. I ordered my food and waited in the restaurant for it. While sitting there I heard someone blowing their nose. I stood up and looked back there and it was one of the cooks, standing over my food actually BLOWING HIS NOSE!! I watched as he continued fixing the food, he didn't wash his hands or nothing. I said to the lady, I know he's not back there BLOWING HIS NOSE OVER MY FOOD, THAT'S SO DISGUSTING. She was very apologetic and shouted to him that he needs to stop because she told him angrily that "You Do That All the Time!!" That was my final time going in there. I will never patronize them again, and yes she gladly gave me my money back. Buyer Beware

Their website gave a price of 7.95 for shrimp and broccoli. They priced it at 10.00 on the phone. And charged 12.00 when I got there. OBTW, there were 5 shrimp in the "large." I asked for a small. I wonder how many shrimp are in the small?

Everyone was nice and it was reasonably priced. The wait time was accurate. However, my boyfriend and I both got food poisoning possibly from the shrimp. The sweet and sour sauce kind of tasted like cherry flavored counter cleaner. The sauce that was on the shrimp tasted spoiled. Other than that great experience! Just don’t want anyone else to get sick.
