About China Taste

Welcome to China Taste, a Chinese restaurant located at 297 Broad Ave in Leonia, New Jersey. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, China Taste aims to provide the local community with a variety of familiar Chinese dishes. However, recent customer reviews available online present a mixed perspective on the food quality, with some dishes receiving moderate praise while others have been met with significant disappointment. Potential local users should carefully consider these recent experiences when making a decision about dining or ordering from this establishment.

One customer who ordered the combo chicken and garlic sauce reported an overall positive experience, stating that it was "good." This suggests that some of the dishes at China Taste may meet customer expectations in terms of flavor and preparation. This reviewer also expressed an intention to try other items on the menu in the future, indicating a generally satisfactory first impression with this particular dish. However, they noted that the egg roll was "more like a spring roll" and found this to be "disappointing," although still "decent nonetheless." This suggests a potential difference in the style or preparation of their egg rolls compared to what some customers might expect, which could be a point of consideration for those who have a specific preference for traditional egg rolls versus spring rolls.

In contrast, another customer's review detailed a highly negative experience with several dishes. This reviewer ordered the General Tso's chicken with vegetable rice and reported that the chicken was "incredibly salty" and lacked the characteristic "sweet and spicy taste" typically associated with this popular dish. Furthermore, they described the chicken as "mostly consisting of breading with very little rubbery meat," indicating a poor quality of the main ingredient and an imbalance in its preparation. The vegetable rice did not fare any better, with the customer stating that it tasted "old." This suggests potential issues with the freshness of the ingredients or the preparation of the rice.

Adding to the negative experience, the complimentary egg roll received by this customer was described as having "appeared to have been refried," resulting in a hard texture and a terrible taste. The overall dissatisfaction was so significant that the customer reported being unable to eat the meal and ultimately throwing it away. This strong negative feedback on multiple dishes – the General Tso's chicken, the vegetable rice, and the egg roll – raises serious concerns about the consistency and quality of the food at China Taste.

Given these contrasting yet concerning recent reviews, it is difficult to form a definitive positive or negative assessment of China Taste. One customer found a specific dish to be good, while another experienced significant issues with multiple ordered items. This inconsistency suggests that the quality of food may vary, or that certain dishes might be better prepared than others. Potential local users should be aware of this mixed feedback.

The limited information from these reviews does not provide much insight into the environment or ambiance of the restaurant. There is no mention of the decor, cleanliness, or overall atmosphere of the dining space. Similarly, details about the services offered are limited to the fact that takeout and delivery (implied by ordering) are available. The friendliness or efficiency of the staff is not discussed in these reviews.

Features of China Taste, such as any specialties or unique aspects of their menu beyond standard American-Chinese fare, are also not highlighted in the provided reviews. The mention of "combo chicken & garlic sauce" and "General Tso chicken" suggests a typical menu of popular dishes in this category. The discrepancy in the egg roll preparation (being more like a spring roll) could be considered a feature, though one that was disappointing to a customer expecting a traditional egg roll.

There is no information available regarding any promotional offers or special deals that China Taste might be currently running. Local users interested in potential discounts or value meals would need to inquire directly with the restaurant.

For local users in Leonia, NJ, considering China Taste, the recent customer reviews present a cautionary tale. While one customer found the chicken and garlic sauce combo to be good, another had a very negative experience with the General Tso's chicken, vegetable rice, and egg roll, citing issues with saltiness, freshness, texture, and taste. The difference in the description of the egg roll also suggests a potential deviation from standard expectations. These inconsistencies make it difficult to provide a confident recommendation.

If you are looking for a Chinese restaurant in the area, you might want to weigh the positive feedback on one dish against the significant negative feedback on others. It could be prudent to inquire about the preparation and style of specific dishes before ordering, especially if you have strong preferences for items like egg rolls or General Tso's chicken.

I ordered the combo chicken & garlic sauce. Overall, it was good. I will definitely try something else. The egg roll was more like a spring roll that was disappointing. Still decent non the less

I ordered general tso chicken with vegetable rice. The chicken was incredibly salty, lacking the general tso sweet and spicy taste. Mostly consisting of breading with very little rubbery meat. The rice was not any better, tasting old. The complimentary egg roll appeared to have been refried, hard and tasted terrible. I could not eat this meal and threw it to the trash.

Food was bland, rice was dry, and portions were ridiculous. Ordered beef broccoli with white rice and got white rice with broccoli and some pieces of beef fat. Only giving a decent score because their kitchen looks a lot more sanitary than funland

We have been here a couple of times, so far we like the food and good to come back. My regular go to is Chicken with Broccoli dish. If a Chinese take out store can't make a good one, I usually see if it's a hit or a miss. This was my second time ordering, there is a good amount in the quart size. This time we had Sesame Tofu and General Tso's Chicken. Both dishes were so good, I should have ordered a General Tso's Chicken. I'm a little sensitive on salt content, the entire order was not heavy on salt and it made me like China Taste more. My husband ordered a quart of Wonton Eggdrop Soup, he likes it too and it's not heavy on the cornstarch taste often can be in the soup. I only took a picture of my Chicken with Broccoli dish, everything else was eaten so quickly, whoops? The kitchen had two chefs, please be patient when you pick up your order. Staff is friendly, parking is available outside, all cash and credit cards are accepted. We will be back soon.

I noticed that they have been charging me hidden extra 3% unknown surcharge on top of total. I spent average $300 and now I am collecting old receipts and I will report to Consumer Affairs Office.
