About China Sun

China Sun is a Chinese restaurant located at 102 Bonham Rd #6, Bristol, VA 24201, USA, serving the local community within the Chinese Restaurant category. Based on recent online customer reviews, experiences at China Sun have been less than satisfactory for some patrons, particularly concerning food quality, pricing, and service for takeout orders. This detailed introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the restaurant based on these reviews to help local users make informed decisions.

The environment of China Sun is not explicitly described in the provided reviews. One review indicates a takeout order, suggesting that the reviewer did not dine in. The other review does not specify the dining method. Therefore, there is no direct information available regarding the ambiance or condition of the dine-in area, if one exists. Local users primarily interested in takeout will find more relevant information in the service and features sections below.

The primary service mentioned in the reviews for China Sun is takeout. One customer specifically stated their order was for takeout due to traveling. This suggests that China Sun caters to customers looking to enjoy their meals off-premises. However, a significant service issue was raised by this reviewer: the order did not include any utensils, such as sticks, a spoon, or a fork. This lack of essential items for a takeout order can be a major inconvenience for customers, especially those who are traveling or do not have access to utensils elsewhere. The other review does not explicitly comment on the service aspect beyond the food itself.

Several features of China Sun have been highlighted negatively in the customer feedback. One major concern is the food quality. One reviewer who ordered the Orange Chicken described it as being made with leftover chicken that was so tough it was difficult to cut. They also noted the lack of sauce, which they typically enjoy with steamed rice, and a sparse amount of accompanying vegetables. This experience led to the majority of the dish being thrown away, indicating a significant issue with the preparation and freshness of this particular menu item. The other reviewer described the overall Chinese food as "typical" and only "ok," without anything particularly noteworthy. They also pointed out specific issues with a combo meal, where the fried rice upgrade to pork was considered overpriced compared to other regional establishments, and the wonton soup included only a single wonton, which is less than the usual serving size.

Pricing is another feature that received negative feedback. One reviewer explicitly stated that China Sun is "a bit pricey for what you get." They provided a specific example of a $6 upcharge for upgrading fried rice to pork in a combo, noting that the standard in the region is only a couple of dollars. This suggests that some menu items or modifications at China Sun may be more expensive than comparable options at other local Chinese restaurants, potentially affecting the perceived value for money.

Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not mention any specific discounts, special offers, or ongoing promotions at China Sun. Local users interested in finding out about any potential deals or new menu items are advised to contact the restaurant directly using the phone number provided. Without any explicit information, it is not possible to comment on any current promotional activities the restaurant might be running.

In conclusion, the recent customer feedback for China Sun in Bristol, VA, paints a concerning picture, particularly regarding food quality and pricing for takeout orders. One reviewer experienced tough, seemingly old chicken in their Orange Chicken dish, along with a lack of sauce and sparse vegetables. Another found the overall food quality to be just "ok" and noted that some items, like the fried rice upgrade and the single-wonton soup, were overpriced or below standard. Additionally, the lack of utensils provided with a takeout order was a significant inconvenience. While these are just two recent reviews, they raise red flags about the consistency and value offered by China Sun. Local users considering this restaurant for Chinese food, especially for takeout, should be aware of these potential issues and may want to explore other options in the area. It might be prudent to inquire about the freshness and preparation of specific dishes when placing an order, although the provided feedback suggests a risk of dissatisfaction.

For those in the Bristol, VA area seeking Chinese takeout, China Sun is one option located on Bonham Road. However, the recent reviews highlight potential drawbacks, including concerns about the quality of dishes like Orange Chicken and the value for money, particularly regarding combo upgrades and the quantity of items like wontons in soup. The failure to include utensils with a takeout order is also a significant point of inconvenience to consider. Before placing an order, local users may want to weigh these negative experiences against their own preferences and perhaps consider other Chinese restaurants in the vicinity. For any information on potential promotions or to inquire about their menu and preparation methods, please contact China Sun directly at (276) 669-3232 or +1 276-669-3232.

A bit disappointing. It's your typical Chinese food, a bit pricey for what you get. The quality of food was ok, nothing to rave about. $6 to upgrade a combo's fried rice to porc. (The others in the region is only a couple dollars). Speaking of combo, it came with a wonton soup... It only had 1 wonton. The norm is usually 2 or 3, but I've never had just a single wonton. This was also a take out order, since I was in town traveling... And the order did not include utensils of any sort. (Sticks, spoon or fork). I likely wouldn't order from this place again.

I ordered the Orange Chicken. The chicken was apparently left over from a couple of days earlier it was so tough I couldn't cut it with a table knife. There was very little sauce which I've always enjoyed with the steamed rice (not this time). There were a couple of very small pieces of orange and limes, green bell pepper and what appeared to be thin slices of carrot. Needless to say most ended in the trash. With all the positive reviews I thought I'd give it a try, live and learn.

I’ve only lived in the Abingdon/Bristol area for a short time now but China Sun quickly became my go-to takeout spot. The food is good quality and affordable, but most importantly the staff there are fantastic. One of the first things I learned is they appreciate and respect their customers, every time I’ve gone they’ve been quick to help and friendly the whole time. I plan on going here for a long time to come (and thank you for the free donuts!)

Although the dining area could use some work, the food & service made up for it! Portion sizes were huge - the photo is just what I brought home. My niece had the Sesame Chicken & said it was the best she’s ever had! Highly recommend!

Rankings near the top of the list noting some of the best Chinese in the area! Beef and Broc entree and a spicy beef and vegg plate. Not too spicy but certainly a kick! Delicious flavors. The rice was very tasty!
