About China Star

Welcome to China Star, a Chinese Restaurant located at 436 Prospect St, Methuen, MA 01844, USA. As a local establishment offering Chinese cuisine, China Star can be contacted at (978) 683-0702 or their mobile number +1 978-683-0702 for inquiries or to place an order.

Based on the available customer reviews, the experiences at China Star appear to be varied, with some customers reporting positive aspects while others express significant dissatisfaction. One customer who ordered the Pu pu Platter for 2 and large Shrimp fried rice had a largely positive experience. They noted that everything was fresh, hot, and good, with minimal grizzle on the boneless spare ribs. The beef teriyaki was described as thick pieces of well-cooked meat, and the food was not greasy. The rice was also mentioned as fresh. This reviewer, a repeat customer, stated that this particular order was "all on point," suggesting potential consistency in their positive experiences.

This positive review also highlighted some logistical advantages, noting that a pickup order was ready upon arrival and that the serving size was sufficient for two people.

However, other reviews present a more critical perspective. One customer, despite acknowledging the promptness of their pickup order and the adequate serving size for two, found significant flaws with the food itself. They described the fried rice as being "just rice and some bits of pork belly," lacking any other typical ingredients and thus being "super plain." Furthermore, they noted that the food wasn't very hot, and the pieces of pork in the rice were colder than the rice itself. This suggests potential issues with food temperature and the composition of certain dishes.

Another negative review focused on the blandness of the chicken, specifically mentioning wings that tasted as if they were simply baked without seasoning. This lack of flavor led the reviewer to an "underwhelming experience" and a decision not to recommend China Star to others.

Considering these contrasting reviews, it is difficult to form a universally positive or negative impression of China Star. While one customer had a very satisfactory experience with their order, praising the freshness, temperature, and lack of greasiness, others found significant shortcomings in the flavor, composition, and temperature of their dishes.

Regarding the environment of China Star, the provided reviews do not offer any details about the restaurant's ambiance or decor. The focus of the feedback is primarily on the food and service aspects. Therefore, based solely on this information, it is not possible to describe the environment of China Star.

In terms of services, China Star appears to offer pickup service, which was noted as being prompt by two different reviewers. There is no explicit mention of dine-in or delivery services in the provided reviews. To ascertain the full range of services offered, such as whether they have a seating area for dining in or provide delivery to local areas, it would be necessary to contact the restaurant directly.

Features of China Star that can be gleaned from the reviews include a Pu pu Platter for two, Shrimp fried rice, boneless spare ribs, and beef teriyaki, which were positively reviewed by one customer. However, the plainness of the fried rice and the blandness of the chicken were negative features highlighted by other reviewers. The serving sizes appear to be adequate for at least two people. The promptness of their pickup service is also a notable feature.

There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Therefore, it is not possible to comment on any specials, discounts, or other promotional offers that China Star might have. Local users interested in such information would need to inquire directly with the restaurant.

In conclusion, China Star in Methuen, MA, has received mixed reviews from its customers. While one customer praised the freshness, temperature, and taste of their order, along with the prompt pickup service and adequate serving sizes, other customers reported issues with bland chicken, plain and cold fried rice, and a generally underwhelming experience. These contrasting opinions suggest that the quality and consistency of food at China Star might vary. Local users considering ordering from China Star should take these differing experiences into account. It might be prudent to try a small order initially to assess the current quality and see if it aligns with their expectations.

Ordered the poo poo player for 2 and large Shrimp fried rice. Everything was fresh, hot and good. Almost no grizzle on the boneless spare ribs. The beef teriyaki was thick pieces of meat and cooked well. Nothing was greasy. And the rice was fresh. When I order Chinese food I order from here and for the first time it was all on point.

Pros: Ordered pick up and food was ready when we arrived. Serving size was enough for two. Cons: The fried rice was just rice and some bits of pork belly. Nothing else. Super plain. The food wasn’t really hot and the pieces of pork were colder than the rice. The chicken was so bland. Almost as if they just baked the wings unseasoned. Overall it was an underwhelming experience and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

It’s very sad it’s come to this, over 10 years ordering food from this place and now it’s a mission to just get an order across without getting some smart remark or just double checking if it’s possible for a simple substitute. Taking business for granted can be costly in the long run.

Getting more pricey. I go there much much less and go to other Chinese places. Next thing you know it's 18.98 for a combo. It's best to eat something else other than Chinese food often anyways not the best healthy option. Their food has a lot of quality texture. The rice has texture, lacks a bit of flavor but it's not oily. Noticed the rice taste a bit better when getting something other than pork meat fried rice definitely trying upsell having other meat rice be more jazzed up. Not the best in general Gao chicken. Chicken fingers are the best in my opinion. Eating everything together as far as basics like boneless ribs, rice and meats and chicken fingers it's an on point American Chinese food. Pricey cause of inflation these days I guess it's reasonable to keep up, the combo portion is definitely good. Lomein is not as good as jade garden in Lawrence. Each restaurant has its best over others, with this place the boneless ribs , chicken fingers and rice with maybe a meat teriyaki is very quality and they got that down to a science in my opinion which is the mains that make Chinese food. Traditional Chinese food flavor is subtle but there on basic things.
