About China Sea

Located at 1278 Post Rd, Warwick, RI 02888, USA, China Sea is a Chinese restaurant that has received contrasting feedback from recent customers. You can contact them at (401) 467-7440 or their mobile number +1 401-467-7440. Based on the limited reviews available, China Sea appears to offer a clean environment with friendly service, but significant concerns have been raised regarding the quality and freshness of the food, as well as the overall dining atmosphere.

Regarding the environment, one reviewer noted that "the place is a bit old but still clean." This suggests that while the decor and facilities might be dated, the restaurant maintains a level of cleanliness that is appreciated by at least one customer. This is a crucial aspect for any dining establishment, and the positive mention of cleanliness provides some reassurance. However, another reviewer described a negative olfactory experience, stating that the restaurant "reeks like cigarettes like someone is smoking in the kitchen." This starkly contrasting observation presents a serious concern about the air quality and overall cleanliness from a different perspective. The presence of a strong cigarette odor, especially if emanating from the kitchen, can significantly detract from the dining experience and raise questions about hygiene practices.

In terms of services, one reviewer found the servers to be "really nice." This positive feedback about the staff suggests that China Sea aims to provide friendly and courteous service to its patrons. However, the second reviewer, while extremely critical of the food, only described the service as "okay," indicating that the service alone was not enough to compensate for other negative aspects of their experience. The discrepancy in service perception might depend on individual interactions or expectations.

One of the defining features of China Sea, according to a customer who identifies as Asian, is that it serves "American Chinese food (not authentic)." This distinction is important for potential customers who might be seeking genuine, traditional Chinese cuisine. The reviewer acknowledges this lack of authenticity but still finds the food to be "good as what they are!" This suggests that while the dishes might be adapted to American palates, they can still be enjoyable for those who prefer or are accustomed to this style of Chinese food.

However, the most significant concern raised in the reviews pertains to the quality of the food. One customer expressed extreme dissatisfaction, stating, "If I could give zero stars for food I would." This strong negative sentiment is a serious red flag for potential diners. The reviewer elaborated that the food "tasted old and like stale cigarettes," directly linking the unpleasant smell to the taste of the food. This suggests a potential issue with food freshness or storage, further compounded by the concerning cigarette odor. This experience stands in stark contrast to the other reviewer's more neutral assessment of the "American Chinese food" being "still good."

Adding to the negative atmosphere described by one reviewer was the behavior of the owner (assumed by the reviewer), who was "perched at the bar hard staring at us the whole time." This type of behavior can create an uncomfortable and unwelcoming environment for diners. Furthermore, the reviewer felt that the owner was "upset we didn’t get alcoholic drinks (We don’t drink)." This suggests a potentially judgmental or profit-driven attitude that could negatively impact the overall dining experience for customers who choose not to consume alcohol.

Promotional information is entirely absent from the provided reviews. There are no mentions of any special offers, discounts, or unique promotions that China Sea might be currently running. Therefore, it is not possible to comment on any efforts the restaurant might be making to attract new customers or retain existing ones through promotional activities.

In summary, China Sea in Warwick, RI, presents a mixed and concerning picture based on the limited recent customer feedback. While one reviewer found the servers to be nice and the "American Chinese food" to be "still good" despite not being authentic, another customer had an overwhelmingly negative experience. This negative experience included a strong cigarette odor permeating the restaurant, food that tasted old and like stale cigarettes, and an uncomfortable atmosphere exacerbated by the perceived behavior of the owner. The cleanliness of the establishment is also viewed differently, with one finding it clean despite being old, while the other's description of the smell raises hygiene concerns. The stark contrast in these two reviews makes it difficult to form a definitive positive or negative assessment of China Sea.

For local users in Warwick, RI, considering China Sea as a dining option requires careful consideration of the available feedback. The positive note about friendly servers and the neutral comment about the "American Chinese food" being acceptable might appeal to some. However, the serious allegations of a pervasive cigarette smell and food tasting stale, coupled with the uncomfortable interaction with the owner, are significant red flags. If you are sensitive to smoke or prioritize fresh-tasting food and a welcoming atmosphere, you might want to exercise caution or seek more recent and consistent reviews before deciding to dine at China Sea. Given the lack of any promotional information, any decision would be based solely on these subjective and conflicting experiences. It might be prudent to try other Chinese restaurants in the area with more consistently positive recent feedback to ensure a more enjoyable dining experience.

The place is a bit old but still clean. The servers are really nice! As an Asian I'll say this is definitely American Chinese food (not authentic) but it's still good as what they are!

If I could give zero stars for food I would. Service was okay. Only me and hubby in the place. Should have walked right out but wanted to give it a chance. Reeks like cigarettes like someone is smoking in the kitchen. Food tasted old and like stale cigarettes. The owner (I’m assuming) was perched at the bar hard staring at us the whole time and was upset we didn’t get alcoholic drinks (We don’t drink) Definitely worst food I’ve had in long time. Extremely disappointing!

Unfortunately my experience with this restaurant was pretty bad. I had an order to go, There were bite holes inside the takeout containers that indicate mice, they explained to me it was for ventilation so food doesn't get soggy. The sweet and sour chicken was tough and tasted old. An the other dish was bland an flavorless. I went back to try and get my money back and they only refunded half of my money, Even while bringing back the entire meal I paid $50 for. It's not easy to tell a restaurant that their food Is poor quality, I tried to be polite but was met with frustration in return. I took my $25 an wished him well. I won't be back.

My fiance and I just got China Sea for Valentines Day.. honestly, the food was AMAZING. Some of the BEST Chinese takeout I've ever had. The food was smoking hot, extremely flavorful, and PLENTIFUL. The prices are GREAT, 10 crab Rangoon for not even $8?? Are you kidding me?! Also, the best crab Rangoons I have ever had. I'm a big fellar, and I'm very critical when it comes to a satisfying meal, lol. And i am more than satisfied with this restaurant. Also, the inside is very rustic-like, and very comfortable. I spoke with one of the owners tonight, and she was AWESOME and super sweet. She offered me some delicious Chinese candies to go with my meal. I will always be coming back here.. Some people have tried 1 thing from here and didn't like it.. Boo Hoo!!! Try something else!! Not all places are going to taste the same, and that doesn't make it bad at all!! I had the general taos chicken with chow mein and an egg roll, my fiance had chicken fingers, with brown gravy, chicken wings, and fried rice, and we cleaned our plates!! I have NEVER had a bad experience at this small gem of a restaurant. Keep up the amazing work, China Sea!!!
