About China Sea Kitchen

China Sea Kitchen, situated at 1760 Carter Hill Rd in Montgomery, Alabama, falls under the Chinese Restaurant category, offering its services primarily as a takeout establishment to the local community. Based on recent customer feedback, there are varying perspectives on the overall experience, particularly concerning food quality, service, and the physical environment of the restaurant.

One customer reported a significant issue with their meal, stating that they found a bug in their sweet and sour sauce for the chicken. This is a serious food safety concern and understandably led to a negative dining experience. The customer also mentioned that they were only refunded $1 for this issue, which they clearly felt was an inadequate resolution. This incident raises questions about the restaurant's food preparation and quality control processes, and it is a point of concern for potential future customers.

Another reviewer provided a more comprehensive, albeit mixed, assessment of China Sea Kitchen. They recalled a time when they considered it the best Chinese restaurant in town, suggesting a potential decline in standards over the years. This observation implies that while the food might still be "pretty good" in their opinion, it may not be at the same level of excellence they once perceived. This indicates a possible inconsistency in food quality or a shift in their personal preferences over time.

Regarding service, this reviewer described it as the "standard brisk minimal interaction you expect from a takeout place." This suggests that while the service might be efficient for order taking and pickup, customers should not anticipate a warm or engaging interaction. This type of service is common for establishments that focus primarily on takeout orders and may not be a drawback for customers prioritizing speed and convenience over a more traditional dining experience.

The most significant concerns raised by the second reviewer pertain to the physical location and environment of China Sea Kitchen. They described the location as "haggard, uninviting, and doesn't inspire confidence." This is a strong negative assessment of the restaurant's exterior or immediate surroundings, which could deter potential customers even before they try the food. Furthermore, they explicitly stated that China Sea Kitchen is "takeout only" and highlighted several concerning aspects of the interior or customer-facing area. These include the absence of air conditioning, which could make the environment uncomfortable, especially during warmer months in Alabama. They also mentioned "old furniture and trash bag barriers at the register," which paint a picture of a poorly maintained and unappealing space that might indeed "scare away the faint of heart."

Despite these significant criticisms regarding the location's condition, the reviewer expressed a sense of loyalty to what was once a favorite, hoping that the family running the business can improve the situation. They even mentioned that they would "still stop by when I'm around" for a "quick lunch for 7.70," indicating that the convenience and perhaps the price point are still factors in their occasional patronage. This also provides a specific price point for a quick lunch, offering some insight into the affordability of China Sea Kitchen.

Considering these two reviews, China Sea Kitchen presents a complex picture. While the food might still be considered "pretty good" by a long-time customer, there are serious concerns about food safety (the bug in the sauce) and the uninviting and poorly maintained physical environment. The service is described as brisk and minimal, typical of a takeout-focused establishment. The fact that it is takeout only and lacks air conditioning are also important factors for potential customers to consider, especially during hot weather.

Based on the information provided, there are no positive comments regarding the environment of China Sea Kitchen. The description of it being "haggard, uninviting," and the mention of old furniture and trash bag barriers at the register paint a negative picture. Local users who prioritize a pleasant and clean environment for picking up their food may be dissuaded by this feedback. The lack of air conditioning is also a significant environmental factor that could impact the experience of waiting for or picking up an order, particularly during the summer months in Alabama.

The services offered by China Sea Kitchen appear to be primarily focused on takeout. The "brisk minimal interaction" service style aligns with a takeout model where efficiency is often prioritized over extensive customer engagement. The mention of a quick lunch for $7.70 suggests that they offer reasonably priced options for customers looking to grab food on the go. However, there is no information provided about delivery services. Local users interested in delivery would need to inquire directly using the provided phone numbers: (334) 834-8811 or +1 334-834-8811, or check with third-party delivery platforms if China Sea Kitchen is listed there.

The features of China Sea Kitchen that can be identified from the reviews include its takeout-only model, potentially affordable pricing (as indicated by the $7.70 lunch), and a service style that is quick and minimal. The food quality seems to be a point of concern, with one serious incident reported and another reviewer noting a potential decline over time. The haggard and uninviting location with no air conditioning and poor interior conditions are also notable features, albeit negative ones, that distinguish this establishment.

Currently, there is no information available regarding any promotional offers or special deals at China Sea Kitchen. The mention of a $7.70 quick lunch could be considered a regular offering rather than a promotion. Local users interested in finding out about any discounts or specials should contact the restaurant directly via phone. They may also want to inquire about their menu and pricing in more detail when calling.

In conclusion, China Sea Kitchen on Carter Hill Rd in Montgomery, Alabama, is primarily a takeout Chinese restaurant that has received mixed reviews. While one long-time customer still finds the food "pretty good" and appreciates the quick lunch option, there are significant concerns raised about food safety, the uninviting and poorly maintained environment (including the lack of air conditioning), and a service style that is described as brisk and minimal. Potential customers should weigh these factors carefully. If convenience and affordability for takeout are the main priorities, and one is willing to overlook the negative aspects of the location, China Sea Kitchen might be an option. However, the reported food safety issue is a serious concern that should give potential diners pause. It would be advisable for local users to consider these recent reviews and perhaps seek more up-to-date information or alternative dining options before making a decision.

Will not be dining here again. There was a bug in my sweet and sour sauce for the chicken. They only refunded me $1.

At one point I thought this was the best Chinese restaurant in town. The years haven't exactly been kind and business must be slowing down. The food, first and foremost, is still pretty good. The service is the standard brisk minimal interaction you expect from a takeout place. The location though is haggard, uninviting, and doesn't inspire confidence. They are takeout only, have no air conditioning, and old furniture and trash bag barriers at the register would scare away the faint of heart. I hate to see an old favorite losing their edge and I hope the family can turn it around. I will still stop by when I'm around. Quick lunch for 7.70

I've come here every Thursday for the past few months. I don't usually leave reviews, but the service here is just incredible; wait times are always short and the owners are the most warm-hearted and down-to-earth people you'll ever meet. Happy Family, Dragon and Phoenix and Sweet Donuts are my favorites. Best Chinese takeout in Montgomery!

This is a really great Chinese restaurant! It was my first time ordering and I was really impressed by the options and price! They could even raise the prices to reflect inflation and I would still very happily pay to eat their delicious food. My favorites were the lo mein (a classic) and the Happy Family--I highly suggest you order these and share with friends. You won't regret it!

Had never been here before but I ordered my Old Favorite of Simple Plain Shrimp Lo Mein. It turned out to be absolutely the MOST Tasteless Food I've ever put in my mouth! It's like they don't even own a salt shaker, much less any other seasonings. That's NO JOKE!! Plus a Large Order is Awfully Expensive for the VERY FEW Shrimp that you get. The Owner should be Ashamed!!
