About China Restaurant

China Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant located at 1506 S 77 Sunshine Strip in Harlingen, Texas. As a local Chinese eatery, it aims to provide a range of Chinese dishes for the community. However, recent feedback from customers who have dined at or ordered from China Restaurant indicates significant concerns regarding the quality of their food and potentially their service.

One customer reported spending $50 on multiple dishes and expressed disappointment with every item they ordered. This comprehensive dissatisfaction suggests potential issues across various aspects of their menu. Specifically, they described their chicken and broccoli as resembling "just boiled chicken with some broccoli," noting the absence of typical sauces or flavorings associated with this dish in Chinese cuisine. Furthermore, the broccoli was reportedly undercooked, indicating a lack of attention to proper vegetable preparation.

The same reviewer also commented on their shrimp mandarin, stating that it tasted more like tomato than orange, which is the expected primary flavor profile for this dish. This deviation from the standard taste suggests a potential issue with the recipe or the ingredients used. Additionally, the white rice served was described as "literally crunchy," indicating that it was significantly undercooked, a fundamental flaw in preparing a staple accompaniment like rice.

Another customer shared an equally negative experience with different dishes. Their lo mein was reported to contain a meager amount of protein, with only "1 shrimp" and no chicken. The beef in the lo mein was also described as "already used with a different flavor with red marks," which is a highly concerning observation suggesting potential issues with food handling or the use of leftover ingredients. Moreover, the lo mein itself was overcooked, while, mirroring the previous review, the rice was also uncooked. This consistency in the report of uncooked rice points to a significant problem in their rice preparation process.

Beyond the food quality, the second reviewer also raised concerns about the customer service, stating that the "cashiers need to be more courteous and friendly." This suggests that the negative dining experience was compounded by unsatisfactory interactions with the staff at the point of payment. Friendly and courteous service is a crucial aspect of customer satisfaction in any food service establishment, and this feedback indicates a potential area for improvement in their front-of-house operations.

The recurring themes in these two reviews paint a concerning picture for potential local customers of China Restaurant. Both reviewers highlight significant issues with the preparation and quality of multiple dishes, including undercooked vegetables and rice, unusually flavored sauces, and potentially mishandled ingredients. The lack of protein in the lo mein and the description of the beef are particularly alarming. Additionally, the negative comment about the cashier's demeanor suggests that the overall customer experience may be lacking.

For local users in Harlingen, TX, who are considering China Restaurant, these recent reviews serve as a strong caution. The reported issues are not minor and span across different types of dishes, indicating potential systemic problems within the kitchen. The fundamental errors in cooking staples like rice and vegetables, along with concerns about ingredient quality and flavor profiles, should give potential diners serious pause.

Given the severity of the criticisms, it would be highly advisable for local residents to consider these experiences before deciding to spend their money at China Restaurant. Spending $50 and being disappointed with every dish, as one reviewer experienced, is a significant waste and a frustrating dining outcome. The reports of undercooked and potentially mishandled food also raise concerns about food safety and hygiene standards at the establishment.

As there is no information provided regarding the environment of the restaurant (dine-in ambiance, cleanliness, etc.) or any specific services offered beyond presumably takeout and potentially dine-in, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive introduction. The available information focuses almost entirely on negative feedback concerning the food quality and one comment about customer service. There is also no mention of any special features or promotional offers from China Restaurant in the provided reviews.

Local users seeking a reliable and enjoyable Chinese dining experience in Harlingen might be better served by exploring other options in the area that have received more positive and consistent feedback regarding their food quality, service, and overall dining experience. It is always wise to check multiple sources of reviews and consider the most recent feedback to get an accurate understanding of a restaurant's current performance.

In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for China Restaurant in Harlingen, TX, present a stark warning about potential issues with food quality, preparation, and customer service. The reports of undercooked food, unusual flavors, and potentially mishandled ingredients are significant concerns. Local users are strongly advised to consider these negative experiences and perhaps explore alternative Chinese dining options in the area that have a more positive track record, at least until there is evidence of substantial improvement at China Restaurant.

We spent $50 on a couple different things and were disappointed with all of it. I’ve never had chicken and broccoli that looked like just boiled chicken with some broccoli. And the broccoli wasn’t even cooked. The shrimp mandarin tasted like tomato more than orange. The white rice was literally crunchy. Won’t be going back at all.

The food here is not very good at all. I'm from Houston visiting and this is worse than any Chinese place in Houston I've been to. I had the General Chow's, not General Tso's, but Chow. It was ok but well overcooked. Paid for a bowl of Won Ton soup, buy only got 2 noodles with no meat in it. The rice was by far the worst. It smelled like dirty socks and tasted as if someone put a dirty sock in your mouth. Broccoli was the only thing that was decent because you can't really mess up Broccoli. The egg roll was tiny and bland. And to top it off, they did not give free refills on any of the drinks. So much good food in the valley, but this place is not one of them!

I was traveling for work and decided to try the local chinese fare when I stumbled across this establishment. I must admit that it truly tasted better than most Chinese restaurants in San Antonio. It had just the right amount of flavor, especially for the price point. Their fried rice could use a touch more love, but overall, I was very pleased with my meal.
