About China Red Gourmet
China Red Gourmet is a Chinese restaurant situated at 3500 118 Chambers St C in the Tribeca neighborhood of New York City. Operating within the bustling landscape of New York's Chinese restaurants, China Red Gourmet offers a range of familiar dishes, primarily catering to takeout and local delivery, as suggested by the nature of the available reviews. Customers can place orders or make inquiries by contacting the restaurant at (212) 267-4015 or +1 212-267-4015. Based on the limited recent customer feedback, the restaurant appears to have received mixed reviews, with some dishes being praised while others have been met with disappointment.
One reviewer, who decided to try China Red Gourmet despite encountering numerous negative reviews elsewhere (though not provided in this context), ordered the chicken fried rice and expressed thorough disappointment. They described the dish as almost bland, indicating a lack of effort in the cooking process. The reviewer did find some redeeming quality in the egg roll, which reportedly added some flavor to the overall meal. However, they felt that they could personally prepare a better fried rice at home. This customer's experience led them to believe that the quality might reflect the price point, suggesting a perception of lower cost potentially equating to lower quality. Their disappointment was significant enough that they chose not to finish the dish, implying a strong dissatisfaction with the taste and preparation. The reviewer also expressed concern about the restaurant's future if the quality of their dishes does not improve.
Another customer shared a more nuanced experience, indicating a willingness to order from China Red Gourmet again but with specific reservations about certain dishes. This reviewer found the chicken wings to be good, describing them as nicely fried and crunchy. The beef broccoli also received some positive feedback, with the broccoli being noted for its crunchiness, which the reviewer preferred over sogginess. However, they observed that the broccoli tasted almost "stem raw," although this was not a major issue for their personal preference for crunch. The beef in the beef broccoli was described as "ok," and the service was noted as friendly. This customer specifically mentioned the fried rice as problematic, questioning why the rice was hard. They expressed an interest in trying other menu items in the future, such as lo mein or a white rice combo, suggesting that their negative experience was primarily with the fried rice.
The two available reviews highlight a significant inconsistency in the quality of food at China Red Gourmet. The chicken fried rice, a staple of American Chinese cuisine, was a major point of dissatisfaction for one reviewer, while another also found the fried rice to be subpar due to its hardness. On the other hand, the chicken wings were praised for their crispiness, and the beef broccoli had both positive (crunchy broccoli) and slightly negative (almost raw taste) aspects. The service was mentioned as friendly by one reviewer, which is a positive note regarding the customer interaction.
The provided reviews offer no information about the environment or ambiance of China Red Gourmet. The focus is solely on the food quality for takeout or delivery. Therefore, it is not possible to describe the restaurant's interior, cleanliness, or suitability for dine-in customers. This absence of commentary on the physical space might suggest that the restaurant primarily caters to takeout and delivery orders, or that the customers leaving these reviews did not dine in.
Similarly, the reviews do not provide details about the full range of services offered by China Red Gourmet. While takeout is clearly an option, it is not specified whether they offer their own delivery service or rely on third-party delivery platforms. The menu and the specific types of Chinese cuisine they specialize in (beyond the mentioned dishes) are also not discussed in these reviews.
There are no unique features or specialties highlighted in the customer feedback. The reviews focus on standard American Chinese dishes like fried rice, chicken wings, and beef broccoli, with mixed opinions on their preparation. The mention of friendly service by one reviewer could be considered a positive feature, but the overall impression is dominated by the inconsistencies in food quality.
Finally, no promotional information is included in the provided reviews. Local users interested in learning about any specials, discounts, or new menu items at China Red Gourmet would need to contact the restaurant directly using the phone numbers (212) 267-4015 or +1 212-267-4015. Checking online ordering platforms or other review sites might also provide additional information about their offerings and any current promotions.
In conclusion, China Red Gourmet in Tribeca, New York City, is a Chinese restaurant that has received mixed feedback regarding its food quality. While some dishes, like the chicken wings and parts of the beef broccoli, have been praised, the fried rice seems to be a point of concern for multiple customers. The service was described as friendly by one reviewer. However, the lack of information about the restaurant's environment and the inconsistencies in food quality make it difficult to provide a strong recommendation based solely on these two reviews. Local users might consider trying specific dishes based on the feedback (e.g., chicken wings) while being cautious about others (e.g., fried rice). Seeking additional reviews from other sources could provide a more comprehensive understanding of the overall dining experience at China Red Gourmet. Contacting the restaurant directly for menu details and any promotional offers is also advisable.

Customer Reviews
Despite the multitude of negative reviews, i still decided to give it a try. Ordered the chicken fried rice and was thoroughly disappointed as it's almost bland and could sense that there was no effort whatsoever in the cooking. Fortunately, the egg roll did help in putting some taste to the overall fried rice. Honestly, i think i can do better in whipping up a simple fried rice than they did. Then again, you pay what you get, I supposedš . Left it as it is in the picture as i do not want to waste my stomach spaceāŗļø. Matter of time that this place would be totally ignored unless they do something about the quality of their dishesš„²šŖ. Hopefully, it's just my dish that is disappointing š.
Ok iāll order from here again but just not the fried rice. Why is the rice hard tho.. The chicken wings was good nice and crunchy fried, the beef broccoli had crunchy broccoli i was a fan, but it almost tasted stem raw. I didnāt mind tho, I prefer crunch over soggy. The beef was ok, the service was friendly. Iāll try something else maybe a lo mein, or white rice combo.
Okay so where do I start first off upon entering the establishment there were only chairs with no tables insight the chairs were beat up and Raggedy with holes in them and the overall cleanliness of the front of the restaurant was dirty dingy and there were chicken bones on the floor that's the beginning I ordered General Tso's chicken and I asked him to make it spicy I had zero spiciness the rice was supposed to be pork fried rice and ended up looking like white rice or a slight yellow tint but it was okay the General Tso's chicken was not spicy at all they were big chunks but nothing really to write home and tell Mom about my girl ordered a half a chicken with fried rice and said the chicken had no flavor and was extremely dry and hard overall you get three stars simply because the food wasn't really disgusting but they had major room for improvement atmosphere is a one-star Services of three didn't really expect much but they wasn't rude catch you on the flipside jack won't be back
My colleague recommended this place but I was half-hearted and sceptical after reading a couple of negative reviews that were posted recently. I decided to give it a shot. All that changed the moment I took my first bite. Hearty portions of comfort food (meat to rice ratio is almost 50:50!). Pricing is unbelievable in NYC. Reasonable is an understatement. Went 2 days in a row for a quick dinner fix. Panda Express move aside! This place is a no-brainer for your Chinese takeaway.
I took my first bite and immediately knew it was NOT chicken. I gagged. I ordered spring rolls and sesame chicken with brown rice and it was $26. This is NOT affordable. I ended up ordering other food and throwing it away. Never again. Some of the worst Chinese food Iāve ever had. Save yourself the energy and go to Joeās.
