Customers describe China Rainbow as an "old school American Chinese restaurant" with a very casual and local hangout vibe. The absence of windows contributes to its unique curb appeal. The owner, often referred to as Rick, is consistently praised as a gracious host, server, and bartender, known for his genuine hospitality.

The menu features familiar American Chinese dishes. While one reviewer found the chicken lo mein to be "mid," the scallion pancakes were highlighted as fresh and crispy. The bar service, particularly a stiff SB (likely a specific drink), was also noted positively. Another reviewer enjoyed the appetizer combo, chicken wings, beef chow mein (described as different from lo mein or stir-fried noodles), and a distinct sweet and sour pork (battered pork with sauce drizzled, unlike the typical bright red sauce version), which evoked childhood memories.

China Rainbow is appreciated for its good and reasonably priced food, as well as its welcoming atmosphere. It's considered a fun spot for drinks with friends during quieter times and a celebratory venue when busy. The owner's friendliness and the sense of community among patrons are significant aspects of the China Rainbow experience. If you're looking for a no-frills, local Chinese spot with a nostalgic feel and friendly service, China Rainbow might be worth a visit.

Chicken lo mein is mid, but the scallion pancakes are fresh and crispy, and Rick serves a stiff SB, but I love this place for more than its good and reasonably priced fare. There’s a certain curb appeal that comes from having no windows that more modern establishments are still struggling to grasp. Rick is the most gracious host/server/bartender, and I welcome any additional business in his direction even if it’s just to hear his genuine, “You’re welcome,” each and every time you politely thank him for something. It’s fun to go for some drinks with a few friends when it’s dead, and fun to go to celebrate your birthday when it’s popping. Give it a whirl!

From the moment you step inside, you're reminded of the old school American Chinese restaurant, where it's very casual, place for locals to gather and hang out, eat and drink Mai tais. There aren't many of these spots around, so very happy there is one locally and it hits the spot. The owner is very friendly and everyone there seems to know her and she knew their names. This is a no frill place, hole in the wall, no windows. We got an appetizer combo, chicken wings, beef Chow mein (not to be confused with lo mein or stir fried noodles) and sweet and Sour pork (this is not the typical current Chinese restaurant sweet and Sour pork in bright red sauce. This is chicken fingers battered pork with sauce drizzled over). Everything tasted good and brought back childhood memories.

The prices on the menu are outdated. They are lower than what they actually charge. You must ask specifically what something costs even though the price is right there on the menu. It’s more than you think. Not cool.

Unfortunately it’s empty. Classic old school Chinese menu with Polynesian options. Fun looking drinks menu, but didn’t try. Spareribs, Lo mein, and orange chicken were great. General’s tofu was bland. My son the meatitarian was better served than his vegetarian father. Would send him back with friends...

We searched google looking for a casual chinese spot with a good mai thai and China Rainbow was exactly what we were looking for. The service was great, and they were so kind. The bar was full which was awesome to see. The PuPu Platter for two was enough food for three of us. The mai thai was a big hit among the customers and my fiance ranked it in his top three favorite mai thais.
