About China Palace Restaurant

Welcome to China Palace Restaurant, a local Chinese restaurant situated at 1915 Hickory Ave # D in New Orleans, Louisiana (70123), USA. As a valued establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, China Palace offers a range of Chinese cuisine to cater to the tastes of the New Orleans community. While its exterior might be unassuming, according to customer reviews, China Palace is a place where flavorful food and affordable prices are the main attractions, making it a potential hidden gem for those seeking delicious Chinese dishes.

Based on customer feedback, the environment of China Palace Restaurant is described as a "hole in the wall" that "doesn't look like much from the outside." However, this initial impression seems to be contrasted by the positive experiences with the food. One reviewer who frequents the establishment, possibly due to its proximity, notes that the interior is always quiet during their visits for takeout. They haven't dined inside, so specific details about the interior ambiance are not available. The focus appears to be more on the quality and taste of the food rather than elaborate decor. For local users prioritizing authentic flavors and value over aesthetics, China Palace might offer a pleasant surprise.

In terms of services, China Palace Restaurant primarily offers takeout, as indicated by one reviewer who has never eaten inside but visits frequently for orders to go. Another reviewer mentioned returning "again and again," suggesting that dine-in service is also likely available, although their primary experience seems to be with enjoying the food off-premises. It is common for local Chinese restaurants to provide both options to cater to different customer preferences. Customers can likely place orders by phone for pickup, and dine-in service would allow patrons to enjoy their meals in the restaurant setting. The availability of delivery services is not explicitly mentioned in the provided information, so it would be advisable to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about this option if needed. The core services appear to be centered around providing accessible and flavorful Chinese food through takeout and on-site dining.

A significant feature of China Palace Restaurant, highlighted in the customer reviews, is the exceptional flavor of their dishes, particularly the mandarin chicken and the sweet and sour pork. One reviewer enthusiastically stated that these were "some of the best Chinese food we've had in town," leading them to become repeat customers. This strong endorsement suggests that China Palace excels in delivering well-prepared and flavorful versions of these popular Chinese-American dishes. Another notable feature mentioned is that the default rice served with meals is shrimp fried rice, rather than plain steamed rice. This is a unique offering that adds extra flavor and value to the meals, as shrimp fried rice is often considered an upgrade at other establishments. The combination of flavorful food and the inclusion of shrimp fried rice as a standard accompaniment sets China Palace apart and contributes to its positive reputation among some local diners.

The affordability of the prices at China Palace Restaurant is also a significant advantage mentioned by a satisfied customer. They described the prices as "amazing," which, coupled with the delicious food, further enhances the value proposition of this local eatery. For budget-conscious diners in New Orleans looking for tasty Chinese cuisine without breaking the bank, China Palace appears to be a highly recommended option.

However, it is important to note a contrasting experience shared by another customer. While they acknowledged that the people at China Palace are "always really nice," they expressed some dissatisfaction with the food quality in a recent order of chicken and broccoli with fried rice. They reported finding hardly any chicken in their dish, suggesting an imbalance in the proportions of ingredients. This indicates a potential inconsistency in food preparation or quality control that prospective customers should be aware of. Despite this issue, the reviewer continues to patronize the restaurant due to its convenience, highlighting the friendly service as a consistent positive aspect.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided data. However, local restaurants often have ongoing specials or may offer promotions to attract customers. In conclusion, China Palace Restaurant in New Orleans presents itself as a local Chinese restaurant that, despite its unassuming exterior, offers flavorful food at affordable prices, particularly praised for dishes like mandarin chicken and sweet and sour pork, and the unique inclusion of shrimp fried rice as the standard rice option. Can't say enough good things about this place. It's a hole in the wall and doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's some of the best Chinese food we've had in town. So much that we ended up coming back again and again. The prices are amazing and the food is so flavorful, especially the mandarin chicken and the sweet and sour pork. We also loved that the default rice is shrimp fried rice, rather than just steamed rice. Highly recommend if you want simple, delicious food.

I go here because it’s right across the street from where I live, but I’m kind of just pleased with the food quality lately because I ordered chicken and broccoli. It’s fried rice but I must’ve paid for fried rice and broccoli because there’s hardly any chicken. The people are always really nice and I’ve never really eaten inside so I can’t tell you how the atmosphere is, but it’s always quiet when I go in there.

My favorite Chinese restaurant. I discovered this restaurant when I briefly lived at the Creeks. I have moved but our entire family still considers this our go to Chinese food place. Amazing quality food, the owner is ALWAYS accommodating with special orders, and the dining room is as comfortable and welcoming as your living room. A+ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

13JUL23 update. Ordered supper to go and was saddened that the recipes were missing ingredients and flavors were off. I'm aware that this establishment has changed owners multiple times, but the food had been consistent. This was disappointing. They still have the best hot and sour soup and wonton soup. The ingredients pop and it's very filling. The chicken and broccoli actually have other vegetables in it. The crab rangoon is delicious with noticably more filling. Best wonton soup I've ever ordered. My wife and I have been coming here for over 15 years and every time is a great experience. The egg drop soup is consistently delicious and just how they make it in the Chinese vessels I used to inspect. The sweet and sour shrimp are delicious, but I think they used to be bigger serving size. The staff are pleasant and very helpful. The facilities are very clean and well maintained.
