Based on recent customer reviews, experiences at China One appear to be mixed, with several concerns raised regarding pricing, food quality, and certain policies. One detailed review expressed initial shock at the higher prices compared to other local Chinese restaurants, specifically mentioning the cost of crab rangoons being significantly higher. This customer also noted a sense of stinginess conveyed through signs within the establishment, such as a warning about potential double charges for overstuffed to-go boxes and a "no refill on drinks" policy, which they found unusual for a dining establishment.
Regarding the food itself, this reviewer described their seafood delight as exceptionally bland, lacking flavor even after the addition of salt and soy sauce. The coconut shrimp was also a disappointment, prepared with a bread batter instead of a crispy flour batter. The coconut sauce was deemed acceptable, but the crab rangoons, priced at a premium, were described as hard and largely hollow, containing minimal filling. The hot and sour soup was a notable exception, which the customer found to be good and appropriately flavored, although still on the higher end of the price spectrum. While the reviewer's husband found his Singapore noodles to be acceptable, it lacked the seasoning and spiciness they typically expect from this dish. Ultimately, this customer concluded that the high prices did not justify the quality of the food and indicated they would not be returning.
Adding to these concerns, another customer who had two positive experiences on previous visits reported a severely negative experience with their Mongolian beef on a third visit. They described the dish as being overwhelmingly composed of onions and peppers (approximately 98%), with very few pieces of beef. Furthermore, they found the sauce to be so unpleasant in smell and taste that it induced nausea, leading them to discard the entire meal. This customer, who had previously enjoyed other dishes like the happy family and four seasons, strongly recommended that the Mongolian beef be removed from the menu due to its poor quality.
The recurring theme in the available reviews is a concern about the value proposition at China One. Customers have highlighted higher prices compared to other local options, coupled with food that is described as either bland, poorly prepared, or lacking in key ingredients (such as the minimal filling in the expensive crab rangoons and the scarcity of beef in the Mongolian beef). The unusual policies regarding drink refills and potential charges for to-go box contents also contribute to a perception of the restaurant being overly focused on cost-saving measures at the expense of customer satisfaction.
While one of the reviewers mentioned that the staff were "nice to face," this positive aspect of service was overshadowed by the issues with pricing and food quality. The update from the first reviewer, after reading other online reviews, corroborated their initial findings, noting a consistent pattern of complaints regarding stinginess with food portions and a lack of flavor in the dishes.
Based on this analysis of recent customer feedback, potential diners at China One should be aware of the reported higher prices and the possibility of encountering bland or poorly executed dishes. The negative experiences with specific items like the seafood delight, coconut shrimp, crab rangoons, and Mongolian beef raise concerns about the consistency and quality of the food. Additionally, the unusual policies regarding drink refills and to-go boxes might be a point of consideration for some customers.
Given the detailed criticisms regarding the food's lack of flavor and the perceived stinginess with ingredients, it is difficult to ascertain specific features that would strongly recommend China One based solely on this recent feedback. The one positive mention was of the hot and sour soup, but even that was noted as being on the higher end of the price scale. The service was described as polite, but this alone may not outweigh the concerns about the food and pricing.
There is no information available regarding any current promotional offers at China One. Customers interested in potential specials or discounts would need to contact the restaurant directly.
In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for China One in Livingston, LA, paint a concerning picture regarding the restaurant's pricing, food quality, and certain customer service policies. Multiple reviewers have described the food as bland and overpriced, with specific complaints about the seafood delight, coconut shrimp, crab rangoons, and Mongolian beef. The unusual policies regarding drink refills and to-go boxes have also been noted. While the staff may be polite, the overwhelming sentiment from recent feedback suggests that potential customers should approach China One with caution and consider these experiences before making a decision to dine there or order takeout.
As a platform providing information on local Chinese restaurants, we aim to present an objective summary of the available feedback. In the case of China One, the recent reviews raise significant concerns that prospective customers should be aware of. We recommend that individuals consider these points and perhaps explore other Chinese dining options in the Livingston area before choosing to patronize China One.

Customer Reviews
update: I wrote my review and then went and read all the reviews. You will notice the same thing over and over. They are stingy on the food, and no flavor. That about wraps it up. previous: I just went here last night. The first thing I noticed was the price. The price of my meal was 3.00 higher from where I usually go. When I went to order my daughter the crab ragoon, I was like WoW, they are double the price. Well ok, my daughter wanted them so I ordered 2. I got 2 other meals in case my order wasn't good, because what I get is hit or miss, never know. I ordered a back up in case. I ordered coconut shrimp too to share. While waiting I noticed how tight and greedy they were with their signs. Can not over stuff to go box or they will charge double. How many people go for a to go box and stuff it? All the time. How many times are you charged double? Never, from all the places I went, all over. There was even a sign that said "No refill on drinks". That right there was extremely tight surprising. I was really taken back on that, lol. When do you ever see that? I only saw that one time in a place in Livingston but it didn't stay open that long. Now the food. You would think since it cost top dollar for to go food it would be good. This was the most bland, no flavor food I have ever eaten. The seafood delight was so bland that even after 2 packets of salt, and 2 soy sauces, it still didn't have any flavor. The coconut shrimp was done in a bread batter and not a crispy buttery flour batter like other places. The coconut sauce was good but who can go wrong on that? The double priced rangoons were hard and when I say had nothing in them, they had enough to coat the inside and was hollow. I was furious about that because 8.25 for a wonton is insane. I also go hot and sour soup, and that was actually good and priced around what others price theirs but was still on the higher end of that scale and it was fine because it was actually flavored as it is supposed to be. Most other places forget the sour part and just make it hot. I will not be going back to this place. My husband's singapore was good but not as seasoned and spicy as others we have been to. So if you like spicy, it wasn't. It was pleasant to me because I don't' like spicy more than flavor. Bottom line is, if you are going to charge high prices for your food, please at least make sure it taste good. The people were nice to face but I gave 3 stars because even though nice, they are the ones making the rules and setting the greedy prices of no refill on drinks, even though it wouldn't be costing them much at all and charging "double" and not as just according to weight to where it may come out to be 14-15 for the overage instead of 20.
Have been here 3 times total. First two times were good. Third time I chose to get something different. Mongolian beef. Have had from other places in the past and loved it. To start it was honestly 98 percent onions and peppers. Maybe 3 to 4 little pieces of beef. Besides this the sauce was so horrible I had to just throw it all away. Its not even about a specific taste thing, the smell and taste will not leave me and makes me nauseous. Please take this item off your menu. I had the happy family and four seasons both above average. Did not expect something like this to come from y'all. Nothing but onions as picture shows.
Our order consisted of crab puffs, egg rolls, cashew chicken, and sweet & sour chicken. We ordered fried rice as well. The crab puffs were very good, with wonderful filling and a hint of sweetness. However, both the cashew chicken and the sweet & sour chicken had very little flavor. The chicken was very chewey and somewhat tough in both dishes. The fried rice was good and had great flavor, but not enough to "carry the entire meal."
Really good food but the place is a bit small. I've had way better Chinese but this place is a regular for us. Sesame chicken is on point. Plenty of food and they seem to add a thing here n there when you order a good bit of food for the family.
Nj, GA, NC, I'm going to Texas after my visits, I visited this restaurant, everything is very nice, the food is very delicious
