About China One (New China King)

Welcome to China One, also known as New China King, a Chinese restaurant located at 1861 E 21st St N, Wichita, Kansas (67208, USA). As a local establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, China One (New China King) aims to serve the Wichita community with a variety of Chinese culinary options. They can be contacted at (316) 260-4895 or +1 316-260-4895 for inquiries or to place orders for takeout or delivery.

Based on the available customer reviews, experiences at China One (New China King) appear to be mixed, with feedback ranging from positive initial impressions to significant dissatisfaction with the food quality. One customer who placed a takeout order noted that the front staff was "nice and welcoming" and that the food was prepared quickly. They also mentioned that the price point was comparable to other local fast-food Chinese establishments, suggesting a similar level of affordability.

However, this same reviewer expressed considerable disappointment with several of the dishes they ordered. The crab rangoon was a major point of concern, as they reported that each piece contained only "a teaspoon of filling." They were so flat upon arrival that the reviewer initially suspected the filling had leaked out, but upon inspection, they concluded that the minimal filling was intentional. This was particularly disappointing as they had ordered two servings of eight pieces each. The Beef Ho Fun was described as plentiful in quantity but containing "lots or large sliced white onions and a little amount of thin slices of beef." The flavor was characterized as "okay" and "very one note," lacking the desirable "wok char taste" often associated with this dish.

The reviewer also tried the HK Chow Mein, noting that there are limited options for this particular dish in Wichita. Unfortunately, their experience was also disappointing. They found the sauce and noodles to be "pretty thick" and the sauce to be "a bit too salty." A positive aspect mentioned was that the dish contained "a lot of meat and veggies," which might be appealing to some customers despite the issues with the sauce and noodles.

Another customer who ordered pepper steak for delivery had a very negative experience, stating that they had "never had this place before" and found the food to be "actually gross." They specifically mentioned the "yellow fries rice" as being "really weird" and "hard." This review raises significant concerns about the quality and preparation of at least these two dishes.

Considering these reviews, information regarding the environment of China One (New China King) is limited. One reviewer mentioned the "front staff seemed nice and welcoming," which suggests a positive initial interaction for takeout customers. However, there is no description of the dine-in area or overall ambiance of the restaurant. The negative review focusing on delivery does not provide any insights into the physical environment of the establishment.

The services offered by China One (New China King) include takeout and delivery, as indicated by the customer reviews. The first reviewer ordered to go, and the second had their meal delivered. The speed of service for takeout was noted as quick, which could be a convenient factor for customers in a hurry. There is no specific mention of dine-in service in the provided reviews, so it is unclear whether this option is available or what the experience might be like.

Features of China One (New China King) appear to include a price point that is competitive with other local fast-food Chinese restaurants. The portion size of the Beef Ho Fun was described as plentiful, and the HK Chow Mein contained a large amount of meat and vegetables, suggesting that they might offer generous portions for some dishes. However, the quality and preparation of these and other dishes, such as the crab rangoon and pepper steak, seem to be inconsistent and have drawn criticism from customers. The availability of HK Chow Mein, a less common dish in the area, could be considered a unique offering, although the reported quality might deter potential customers.

There is no promotional information available in the provided customer reviews. Chinese restaurants often offer lunch specials, combination deals, or discounts on certain days or for specific order amounts. To learn about any current promotions at China One (New China King), customers would need to contact the restaurant directly at (316) 260-4895 or +1 316-260-4895. They might also have online ordering platforms or social media pages where promotions could be advertised.

In conclusion, China One (New China King) in Wichita, KS, is a Chinese restaurant offering takeout and delivery services. While the front staff has been described as nice and welcoming, and the prices are comparable to other fast-food Chinese places, customer reviews indicate significant concerns about the quality and preparation of the food. Issues such as minimal filling in crab rangoon, bland and unbalanced Beef Ho Fun, salty and thick HK Chow Mein, and a generally "gross" pepper steak with "weird" rice have been reported. While some dishes may offer generous portions, the overall feedback suggests a lack of consistency and quality in the food. Potential customers should consider these reviews carefully before placing an order. For information on dine-in availability, the full menu, and any current promotions, it is recommended to contact China One (New China King) directly.

I ordered to go. Front staff seemed nice and welcoming. Food came out quick. Price point matched other local fast food Chinese places. The food: The crab rangoon only had a teaspoon of filling in it. They were so flat when I got them, I assumed all the filling leaked out, but no, this was an intentional small amount. I was really disappointed since I ordered 2 orders of eight. The Beef Ho Fun was plentiful, but lots or large sliced white onions and a little amount of thin slices of beef. Flavor was okay, very one note. No wok char taste at all. Tried the HK Chow Mein since there are not many options for it in Wichita and was disappointed. The sauce and noodles were pretty thick. Sauce was a bit too salty. A positive was there was a lot of meat and veggies.

The food was good and the people were great, but the dine-in experience during this recent cold weather was not good at all. Probably the landlord's fault, not theirs, but the HVAC system was wholly inadequate or the thermostat was set way too low. Even sitting as far from the door as possible, the indoor temperature never got above the 50-55° range.

Ordered through Door dash. We moved here from the west coast and have relentlessly searched for good Chinese Food. Fast forward 4 months and many, many places tried. Until today, we thought we'd never find really good Chinese. This is by far the best I've had in Wichita and the surrounding area. Large portions, very good prices too. This will now be in our permanent favorite list. I ordered General Tso's Chicken, wife ordered Orange Chicken. If it states spicy, it really is, which I appreciate. Chicken was crispy and tender. Definitely tossed in corn starch, which I prefer to breading, which can be too much IMO. Thanks China One, you have forever customers.
