About China One Buffet

Welcome to China One Buffet, a Chinese restaurant located at 3208 N Main St, Taylor, TX 76574, USA. As a buffet-style establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, China One Buffet offers a variety of Chinese dishes for dine-in customers. For inquiries or to place a takeout order, you can contact them at (512) 352-5155 or their mobile number +1 512-352-5155.

China One Buffet has been a part of the Taylor community for a significant time, with one long-term customer stating they have been eating there since childhood and have always found the food to be "amazing!" This positive sentiment from a long-time patron suggests that the restaurant has a history of providing enjoyable meals to its customers. However, recent circumstances, likely related to the pandemic, have impacted the restaurant's operations.

According to the review, China One Buffet has adjusted its operating hours and the availability of its buffet. Due to reduced business, only certain hours are open, and one side of the buffet is currently not in use. The reviewer indicates that the best time to visit for the freshest food is during the weekdays between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, as this is when a significant amount of fresh dishes are prepared. It is also noted that China One Buffet offers takeout services for customers who prefer to eat their meals elsewhere.

Another aspect highlighted in the reviews concerns the management and operation of China One Buffet. It is mentioned that the restaurant is primarily run by a husband and wife team. The reviewer who expressed long-term satisfaction with the food asks for compassion and understanding regarding the tidiness and upkeep of the premises, attributing any shortcomings in this area to the limited staffing. Additionally, it is noted that the owner does not fully understand English, which is presented as something to consider when interacting with the staff.

In contrast to the positive long-term experience shared by one reviewer, another customer had a significantly negative experience. This reviewer ordered "shrimp with lobster sauce" which they found to be "completely inedible." They described the dish as spilling over the plate, bland, and containing only four shrimp. The "so-called lobster sauce" was described as "slimy." When the customer raised these issues with the waitress, they reported that no resolution was offered, with the waitress simply responding with disbelief ("you're kidding"). Furthermore, this reviewer found the "Egg drop soup tasted burned." As a result of this experience, they stated they would "never be back."

The environment of China One Buffet is described indirectly in one review as "not the tidiest or newest." This suggests that the physical appearance and upkeep of the restaurant might be perceived as somewhat dated or less clean compared to other establishments. However, the reviewer who mentioned this urged understanding due to the restaurant being run by only the owners.

The services offered by China One Buffet include dine-in, with a focus on a buffet-style service, although currently with reduced capacity. Takeout service is also available for customers who wish to enjoy their food off-premises. The quality of service appears to be a point of contention based on the provided reviews. One reviewer praised the food and implicitly the service over a long period, while the other reported a lack of satisfactory response when raising concerns about a specific dish.

In terms of features, the primary feature of China One Buffet is its buffet offering, which typically includes a variety of Chinese dishes. However, it is currently operating with a reduced buffet selection and has specific times (weekdays between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM) when the freshest food is likely to be available. The menu likely includes standard Chinese buffet fare, though specific dishes are only mentioned in the context of the negative review (shrimp with lobster sauce and egg drop soup) and the positive long-term review (implicitly, the variety of dishes offered over the years). The fact that takeout is available broadens the accessibility of their food.

There is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. It is common for buffet restaurants to have lunch and dinner prices, as well as potential discounts for children or seniors. Given the current operational adjustments mentioned in one review, it would be advisable to contact China One Buffet directly to inquire about their current pricing, hours of operation, and any ongoing specials or promotions.

In conclusion, China One Buffet in Taylor, TX, presents a mixed picture based on the available customer reviews. While one long-time patron speaks highly of the food quality over many years, another recent customer reported a very negative experience with a specific dish and the service response. The restaurant is noted to be a family-run establishment facing potential challenges that have led to reduced operating hours and a partial closure of the buffet. The environment is described as not being the newest or tidiest, with a call for compassion due to the limited staff. If you are considering dining at China One Buffet, it might be prudent to take into account the varying recent experiences and perhaps visit during the recommended weekday lunch hours for potentially fresher options. For the most accurate information regarding their current menu, pricing, hours, and any promotions, direct contact with the restaurant is recommended.

I’ve been eating here since I was a kid and I will always say the food here is amazing! Because of the pandemic she hasn’t had enough business and that is why she opens certain hours and the other side of the buffet isn’t open anymore. Her best hours are during the weekdays between 11AM-1PM, that’s when she puts out a lot of fresh food. She also does takeout! I know the place isn’t the tidiest or newest but it’s just her and her husband running the restaurant so have some compassion. She doesn’t fully understand English so that’s another thing to take into consideration, otherwise her food will always be my favorite! ♡︎

I ordered shrimp with lobster sauce. It was completely inedible. Waitress brought it to me spilling over the plate, bland, with 4 shrimp. The So-called lobster sauce was slimy. When I told her the issues I had she did nothing to fix the problem except to say you're kidding. The Egg drop soup tasted burned. We will never be back

Everything was delicious! Picked a good time of day (noon), there was a lot of people and everything was being freshly brought out as we ate!

Did not expect much for a small buffet in Taylor, but they’re not even trying. Rude staff. Almost seems like she’s bothered that you are there. Very limited selection. The place is filthy too! Tables and floor are dirty. The area where you pay behind the counter is gross.

First time going. Ordered House Special fried rice and egg drop soup. The pork in the rice was old tasted like it was forgot about in the fridge for a few days, I got 3 small shrimp that were rubber and the then there was what I think was supposed to be chicken but what WHITE and had no flavor!!!!! I don’t mean white meat part of chicken white but bleach WHITE. Everything was very bland. I guess from now on I’m driving one town over and hitting up Panda Express. This was nasty!! I will be including pics of the WHITE mystery meat.
