About China Olive

Located at 9008 S Sooner Rd, Oklahoma City, OK 73165, USA, China Olive presents itself as a compact and convenient Chinese restaurant primarily catering to the takeout market, though it does offer a limited number of tables for those who wish to dine in. Positioned as an "oriental place," it falls under the broad category of Chinese restaurants, providing a range of familiar and some unique dishes to its local clientele.

The environment at China Olive is described as "really small," suggesting a cozy and perhaps no-frills setting. A recurring positive comment about the establishment's environment is its cleanliness. Customers have specifically noted that "the place was very clean including the small male/female small storage closet bathroom," which indicates a strong commitment to hygiene despite the limited space. The presence of "a couple tables for dining in" means that while most business is likely takeout, a small contingent of customers can enjoy their meal on-site. This type of environment is typical of smaller, family-run Chinese eateries that prioritize efficient food preparation for off-premise consumption over extensive dining amenities. The modest size contributes to a sense of quick service and a focus on the food itself rather than an elaborate dining experience.

Service at China Olive appears to be streamlined for efficiency, particularly given its strong emphasis on takeout orders. The fact that the place was "fairly busy" and handling a volume of orders suggests a competent and quick operational flow. While detailed accounts of customer service interactions are limited to the provided reviews, the overall impression is one of a busy, functional kitchen and counter service. For takeout-centric restaurants, good service often translates to accurate orders, timely preparation, and a smooth pickup process. It is reasonable to infer that the staff is geared towards processing orders efficiently to keep up with demand.

China Olive boasts some distinct features that have resonated positively with certain customers. A standout item mentioned by a satisfied patron is the "chicken and beef on a stick," which was found to be "amazing" and unique enough for the reviewer to note it as the only place they've found such a combination. This suggests a potential signature dish or a unique offering that sets it apart from more generic Chinese menus. The "beef lo mein" also received praise for being "really good," indicating that some of their staple dishes are prepared to a high standard. These positive highlights point to specific strengths in their culinary offerings.

However, it is important to consider varied customer experiences when assessing China Olive's features. While some dishes are highly recommended, others have received less favorable reviews. For instance, the "Szechuan style bean curd" (tofu) was a point of contention for one reviewer who was "not impressed with the sauce" and found the tofu to be "just cubed soft tofu" rather than fried, with minimal accompanying vegetables. Similarly, a friend's order of "spareribs as well as beef with mushrooms" led to a suggestion "not to go back." These contrasting experiences highlight that while some items are very well-received, consistency across the entire "very standard large generic Chinese menu" might be an area for potential improvement or simply a matter of individual taste. The observation that "portions were smaller to match the smaller price" for certain items also suggests that value perception can vary depending on the dish ordered.

In terms of promotional information, the provided reviews do not detail any specific ongoing promotions or discounts. However, the mention that "prices seemed reasonable" initially and that "mine was over priced just for some tofu heated in a not very good sauce and his portions were smaller to match the smaller price" offers insight into the pricing strategy. It suggests that China Olive aims for competitive pricing, particularly for its more standard menu items, which might be perceived as a promotional draw in itself for budget-conscious diners. The initial attractiveness of the prices, leading to the expectation of good value, is a form of passive promotion. It is always advisable for potential customers to check their full menu and current pricing, possibly by calling them directly at (405) 733-8088 or +1 405-733-8088, as local establishments may offer unadvertised specials or combination deals not widely published online.

China Olive's operational hours are typically consistent with neighborhood Chinese takeout restaurants, usually opening for lunch and remaining open through dinner, seven days a week. For instance, common hours for such establishments could be from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM or 10:00 PM. Patrons looking for a quick and convenient Chinese meal in the 9008 S Sooner Rd area of Oklahoma City might find China Olive to be a suitable option, particularly if they are interested in their highly praised "chicken and beef on a stick" or "beef lo mein." The restaurant's dedication to cleanliness is a strong positive, making it a reliable choice for hygiene-conscious diners.

In conclusion, China Olive offers a small, clean, and primarily takeout-focused Chinese dining option in Oklahoma City. While some dishes, notably their chicken and beef on a stick and beef lo mein, garner strong recommendations, experiences with other menu items can vary. The pricing appears to be competitive, especially for what are considered standard Chinese offerings. For those in the vicinity looking for a convenient, quick, and clean place to grab Chinese food, particularly specific popular items, China Olive is a valid consideration, leveraging its efficient service and emphasis on takeout convenience.

Really small oriental place we ran into on our way to Norman. The place was very clean including the small male/female small storage closet bathroom. It was the only place I've found chicken and beef on a stick. That was amazing. Had beef lo mein that too was really good. There are a couple tables for dinning in, but was mostly take out. I would recommend if you are in that area.

Prices seemed reasonable and place was fairly busy so was hoping a good sign. The menu was very standard large generic Chinese menu. I ordered the Szechuan style bean curd. The tofu was not fried, was just cubed soft tofu, which I wish I knew before. Almost nothing but the tofu, a few peas and carrots. Was not impressed with the sauce. Friend got spareribs as well as beef with mushrooms. After he tried his food, suggested we not go back. While the prices initially seemed good, mine was over priced just for some tofu heated in a not very good sauce and his portions were smaller to match the smaller price. Will definitely be exploring other options in the area when next wanting Chinese food.

I’ve had this place a few times. I came tonight and I’m completely disappointed. One of the eggrolls has been re fried. I’m frustrated because I should have checked it before I left. Would not recommend…

Nice small mom and pop restaurant. Looks like mostly for takeout. They do have an indoor dining area but it is small. Food was ready fast and was good. One order portion was enough for 2 people, was surprised how much was in the box.

Food was excellent. I had the General Tso’s and it was exactly what I was needing in the moment. I was just driving by, but I’m thankful I stopped in. Food was ready pretty quick as well. I forgot to get a picture until I had already been eating for a bit.
