About China Mountain

China Mountain is a Chinese restaurant located at 14959 St Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110, serving the local community. They can be contacted at (216) 451-9222 or via mobile phone at +1 216-451-9222 for inquiries and orders. Based on recent customer reviews, there are significant concerns regarding the quality of the food served at this establishment, which potential local users should be aware of.

One customer reported a highly negative experience, stating that they "Spent $53 for the food to be tossed in the trash." This extreme dissatisfaction suggests severe issues with the food prepared by China Mountain. The reviewer elaborated on several specific dishes, indicating widespread problems with their order. They described the "shrimp fried rice" as "hard and barely any shrimp," pointing to issues with both the texture of the rice and the scarcity of a key ingredient.

Similarly, the "egg foo young" was criticized for the same problem of missing shrimp, with the reviewer noting "no shrimp" and also mentioning that the "gravy spilled out in the bag," suggesting poor packaging or handling for takeout orders. The "ham fried rice" was also found to be unsatisfactory, with the complaint that it "barely had ham and the rice was hard," echoing the texture issue with the shrimp fried rice and indicating a lack of the promised main ingredient.

Even the "egg rolls" received harsh criticism, described as "fried to the point you’d lose a tooth," indicating they were severely overcooked and potentially inedible. In stark contrast to their overall negative experience, the reviewer mentioned a single item they wished they had stuck with: "I should’ve just ordered the beef on a stick and called it a day." This isolated comment might suggest that some specific items on the menu could be better than others, but the overall impression from this review is overwhelmingly negative.

This dissatisfied customer concluded by stating their intention to switch to a different Chinese restaurant, "China Dragon at Severance," implying that they had experienced a significant decline in the quality of food at China Mountain, saying, "The quality of their food has gone way down!" This comparison to a competitor further emphasizes the severity of their disappointment.

Another recent review corroborated the negative feedback regarding food quality. This customer reported a particularly poor experience with a dish they ordered, stating, "They gave me over cooked plain noodles and called it lo mein noodles there wasn’t even any seasoning on it." This description suggests a fundamental misunderstanding or poor preparation of a standard Chinese noodle dish. The reviewer further detailed that the so-called lo mein consisted of "white and overcooked noodles and a drizzled a little bit of teriyaki sauce on top no vegetables nothing it was disgusting and they charged me nine dollars for that nasty food." This account highlights issues with both the cooking of the noodles, the lack of expected ingredients (such as vegetables), and the minimal, seemingly inappropriate seasoning. The fact that this substandard dish was priced at nine dollars further exacerbated the customer's negative perception, implying a lack of value for money.

Based on these recent reviews, potential local users should be aware of significant concerns regarding the food quality at China Mountain. The issues raised include the use of old-tasting ingredients, poorly cooked rice and noodles (described as hard and overcooked, respectively), a lack of promised main ingredients like shrimp and ham in fried rice and egg foo young, severely overcooked egg rolls, and poorly prepared, flavorless dishes like the "lo mein."

The lack of positive comments about the food quality in these recent reviews, coupled with the strong negative sentiments expressed, paints a concerning picture for anyone considering ordering from China Mountain. The high cost mentioned by one reviewer ($53 for food deemed inedible) further underscores the potential for a disappointing and expensive experience.

While there is no information provided about the restaurant's environment or the service, the overwhelming focus of the recent feedback is on the severely lacking food quality. This is a critical factor for any restaurant, and the consistency of the negative reports across multiple dishes suggests a systemic issue rather than isolated incidents.

Given the strong negative feedback regarding food quality, local users seeking a reliable Chinese restaurant in the Cleveland area might want to exercise caution when considering China Mountain. The reviews suggest a significant risk of receiving poorly prepared, old-tasting, and overpriced food. The comparison made by one reviewer to a competitor, China Dragon, implies that there might be better alternatives available in the vicinity.

In conclusion, recent customer reviews for China Mountain at 14959 St Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH, paint a concerning picture of the restaurant's food quality. Multiple reports describe dishes as old-tasting, poorly cooked (hard rice, overcooked noodles, burnt egg rolls), and lacking in promised ingredients. One customer even deemed their $53 order inedible and expressed a preference for a competitor. While no information is available regarding the environment or service, the severe and consistent criticism of the food quality should be a significant consideration for local users when choosing a Chinese restaurant in the area.

Spent $53 for the food to be tossed in the trash. Everything tasted old smh! The shrimp fried rice was hard and barely any shrimp. The egg foo young same thing, no shrimp and gravy spilled out in the bag. Ham fried rice barely had ham and the rice was hard. Egg rolls fried to the point you’d lose a tooth. I should’ve just ordered the beef on a stick and called it a day. I’ll be going to China Dragon at Severance from now on!! The quality of their food has gone way down!

I had to change my rating after my last visit. They gave me over cooked plain noodles and called it lo mein noodles there wasn’t even any seasoning on it. It was white and overcooked noodles and a drizzled a little bit of teriyaki sauce on top no vegetables nothing it was disgusting and they charged me nine dollars for that nasty food.

Two meals will cost about $25. Long gone are the days pre-Covid pandemic when prices everywhere were lower & reasonable. The flavor is good for what it is. Quick & fast. I'll definitely go back. They have a large menu, so there's something for everyone.

Yesterday DECEMBER 1ST, I ordered $23.75 worth of food and Waited close to 30 minutes for my food only to get some raw chicken. Been sick every since! They showed no care or compassion and was only interested in serving more people! NEVER AGAIN

She didn’t even listen to me. I paid $20 for a medium fried rice and a combination chicken teriyaki. It was 12 pieces of teriyaki chicken. It was like cabbage my lo mein noodles had no vegetables they barely had any sauce if you see those young people work turn around do not pass go do not collect $200. It is a waste of money.
