To provide an objective overview of what you might expect from China Max, it's important to consider the feedback shared by recent customers. We've gathered a couple of reviews that offer insights into their experiences:

One customer expressed significant concerns about the freshness of the food preparation at China Max. They alleged that the restaurant "hardly prepares fresh food" and when they do, the portions are very small, often mixed with older food that has been sitting out for an extended period. This reviewer specifically mentioned that noodles become hard and dry, and the exterior of the orange chicken also suffers in quality. They further claimed that sometimes fresh sauce is poured over older food, presumably to keep it warm. Additionally, this customer stated that when requesting freshly prepared items like bourbon chicken or lo mein that are placed above older food, the restaurant is "VERY stingy" with the fresh portions, providing more of the older food instead. This negative experience was reported to have occurred on three separate occasions, leading the reviewer to recommend an alternative Hibachi restaurant located across from the Harrisburg Mall as a better option. The overall sentiment of this review is highly critical and "very disappointing."

Another customer shared a concerning experience regarding the quality and handling of undercooked food. They reported purchasing chicken that was undercooked and upon returning it to the restaurant, they were met with an argument. According to this review, China Max refused to refund their money and instead offered a dish of rice. The customer felt that they paid $11 for "subpar fried rice" as a result of this exchange and strongly advised others to "Pick another place," indicating a high level of dissatisfaction with their experience.

These two reviews paint a concerning picture of China Max based on these specific customer experiences. Both reviews raise significant issues regarding food quality, freshness, and customer service. One review details alleged practices of serving old food mixed with small amounts of fresh food and being ungenerous with fresh portions. The other review describes receiving undercooked chicken, encountering an argument upon returning it, and being denied a refund, ultimately feeling forced to accept a dish of rice instead.

Given the serious nature of the allegations in these reviews, particularly concerning food safety (undercooked chicken) and the handling of potentially stale food, it is crucial for potential customers to be aware of these experiences. These reviews do not provide any positive feedback regarding the food, service, or environment of China Max. Therefore, based solely on this information, it is challenging to offer any positive aspects of the restaurant.

The reviews do not provide any information about the ambiance or decor of China Max. Typically, Chinese restaurants aim for a casual and functional setting, but without any positive or descriptive feedback, it's impossible to comment on the environment of this specific establishment.

Similarly, the reviews do not offer any positive insights into the services provided by China Max. One review describes argumentative behavior when a customer returned undercooked food and a refusal to provide a refund. The other review mentions stinginess with fresh food portions. These accounts do not suggest a positive service experience. While it can be assumed that China Max offers takeout and possibly dine-in services (as customers purchased and presumably consumed food), the quality of service associated with these offerings is called into question by the provided feedback.

There is no information available regarding any promotional offers or special deals that China Max might be running. Given the negative nature of the recent reviews, it is unlikely that customers would be highlighting any positive aspects such as promotions.

In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for China Max, located at 3601 Paxton St in Harrisburg, PA, present significant concerns regarding food quality, freshness, and customer service. Allegations include serving old food mixed with small amounts of fresh food, being stingy with fresh portions, and serving undercooked chicken followed by an argument and refusal to refund. Potential customers are strongly advised to consider these recent experiences when making their dining choices in the Harrisburg area. Based on this limited and negative information, it is not possible to recommend China Max or highlight any positive features. Individuals seeking Chinese cuisine in Harrisburg may want to research other options available in the vicinity, such as the Hibachi restaurant mentioned as an alternative in one of the reviews.

They hardly prepare fresh food and when they do, its very little and they just blend it in with the old food that has been sitting out for hours. The noodles become hard and dry and so does the exterior of the orange chicken. Sometimes they will pour it in top of the old food in hopes of keeping it warm. Furthermore, when you ask for the fresh food that's above the old food, (ex: bourbon chicken or lo mien) they are VERY stingy with it. They give you more old food than fresh. This has happened to me 3x. You're better off going to the Hibachi that's right across from the Harrisburg Mall. It's very disappointing...

Just bought the chicken. It was undercooked. Took it back and they processed to argue with me. They would not refund our money and gave us a dish or rice instead. I paid $11 for subpar fried rice. Pick another place.

Well I didn’t find any bugs like a previous review stated, so that’s a plus, buuutttt: the pork fried rice tasted like it was at least a year past expiration from a box, and was about 95% rice, and about 5% pork w/ other contents, the chicken in the chicken & broccoli had a strange taste, (not a bad chicken taste, but more of a cheap low-quality chicken taste), the broccoli was ok, and the General Tso’s had a funny low-quality taste as well. $8.47 for all, hence the single star, but I’d give it 0 if I could. For a city that’s rather populated with Chinese restaurants, you’d really think some of these places would try to be a little more competitive. I used to think that Chinese food couldn’t be messed up, though China Max has proved me wrong.

My wife saw the female server at this location washing the chicken in the women’s restroom. Disgusting. What everyone else is saying about old food is also true, the old food sits for hours and when they add new they mix it and you get mostly old dry food. Go somewhere else.
