About China Mama - Shanghai Plaza
China Mama - Shanghai Plaza, located at 4266 Spring Mountain Rd #106 in Las Vegas, is a Chinese restaurant offering a variety of dishes. While some long-time patrons have noted changes in flavor over time, particularly after recent expansions and potentially a change in chef, the restaurant continues to be appreciated for its service and ambiance.
Customers consistently praise the excellent service provided by the staff, describing them as great and attentive. The restaurant itself is noted for being very clean and beautifully decorated, creating a pleasant dining environment. Dishes are also presented with great care in their plating.
Among the menu items, the Pan Fried Pork Buns are frequently mentioned, described as juicy and crispy, though some have found them lacking in flavor or a bit oily. The Crispy Beef is highlighted as a dish that has remained consistent in its original taste and is considered hard to find elsewhere. In contrast, the Honey Walnut Shrimp is now perceived by some as overly sweet and not as authentic. The Sliced Fish with Ginger and Green Onions, once considered an underrated favorite with crispy fish and a creamy sauce, is now described by some as underfried and dry. The String Beans have been noted to be over-salted with the addition of a pickled condiment.
Despite some changes in flavor profiles, many customers still find dishes they enjoy. Recent feedback highlights the Pan Fried Pork Buns (though oily), flavorful Egg Yolk Prawns (with a potentially strong egg smell), and the standout Tan Tan Noodles, praised for being garlicky, spicy, and full of flavor. The Honey Walnut Shrimp is also described by some as creamy and sweet.
Due to its popularity, China Mama - Shanghai Plaza often experiences long wait times, with recommendations to arrive at least an hour before your desired seating time. Overall, it remains a popular choice for many, with standout dishes and commendable service, making it a restaurant worth considering despite some reported inconsistencies in certain menu items.

Not the same anymore. I don’t know what changed, maybe a new chef or all the recent expansions, but the food just tastes different (in a negative way) What used to be mandatory stop on our Vegas trips is now just another restaurant if we feel like it. Been a frequent visitor since the days they were at the old location (that burned down) The service is still excellent. All the staff members are great here. The place is very clean and beautiful. Every dish was plated great but the flavors have changed over the years. Pan fried pork buns - still juicy, crispy, but lacked flavor Crispy beef - the one dish that I’d say still tastes as close to the original and hard to find elsewhere. Honey walnut shrimp - Very sweet now. Just doesn’t tastes like an authentic honey walnut shrimp Sliced fish w/ ginger and green onions - Now this used to be what I considered their most underrated dish. Used to be crispy fish, creamy flavorful sauce. Now it’s an underfried dry fish dish String beans - Over salted with the pickled condiment added Would I come back? yes. Is it a must go? Not anymore
I recently dined at China Mama 2 and had a fantastic experience! The Pan Fried Pork Buns were soft on the inside with a satisfying crunch on the outside--though a bit oily, they were still absolutely delicious. The Egg Yolk Prawns were flavorful, though the egg smell was a bit strong for my taste. The Tan Tan Noodles, however, stole the show--garlicky and packed with spice and flavor, they were simply amazing. And the Honey Walnut Shrimp? Creamy, sweet, and absolutely perfect. The wait was long, so I recommend arriving at least an hour before you want to be seated, but it's understandable given how popular the place is. The staff was incredibly kind and did their best to attend to everyone with care. Overall, a great meal with some standout dishes--definitely worth a visit!
I’m impressed by how good the food tasted. This is some of the best Chinese food I’ve had in a long time, and worth the wait. Ingredients are fresh and made when ordered, which made all the dishes delicious. In addition to the good tasting food, the service was also excellent. Portions are large and reasonably priced. We had the sliced beef in chili sauce, salted egg yolk prawns, cucumber salad, and fish fillet with pickled mustard. The salted egg yolk prawns tasted very fresh and tender. I will be back in the future and highly recommend this place.
We stumbled upon this restaurant and what a happy accident this was. Apparently it is very famous and for good reason. We got their famous crispy beef, handmade potstickers (YUM) and our favorite, YuXian eggplant with minced pork. The place is amazing, the customer service was great, and the best part was watching a lady make dumplings in the kitchen. Highly recommend.
I just found my new favorite Chinese restaurant in Vegas--China Mama is incredible! The interior is clean and modern, with a welcoming vibe, and the service is super friendly and efficient despite how busy they get. Pro tip: Even if you arrive right at opening, be prepared for a line! This place is that popular, and for good reason. The food is authentic, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The highlight for me was the Shen Jian Bao (pan-fried dumplings)--crispy on the bottom, juicy inside, and absolutely delicious. Very Shanghainese and perfectly done! I can't wait to come back and try more of their dishes. If you're into authentic Chinese flavors, this spot is a must. Must order: Pan Fried Shanghai Dumplings Duck Crispy Beef Spicy wontons Deep Fried Shrimps Mongolian Beef House Fried Rice
