Based on recent customer reviews, China Lucky Star offers a mix of affordability and convenience. One reviewer was happy to find a Chinese restaurant with its dining room open, capable of seating over a dozen people. Although the food is served in takeout containers even for dine-in customers, the service provided by a waitress named Angel was appreciated. A significant feature highlighted is the low prices, with all lunch specials priced at $7.95 and most dinner options at $10.95, accompanied by large portions. This reviewer, who had visited once before six years prior, found the food to be "spot on wonderful," enjoying a mixed Chicken and Veggie dish with Rice and Egg Roll, while their companion enjoyed the dinner portion of Chicken Egg Foo Young with Rice, Egg Roll, and Brown Gravy. They also added a quart of Wonton Soup for $5 and expressed their intention to return soon, praising Angel for her cooking and waitressing skills.
Another reviewer described the restaurant as a "cute little restaurant" that seems to primarily focus on takeout, likely due to COVID-19, but does offer some seating. They noted the speed of order preparation and found the prices to be a "bit pricey" but felt the portion sizes were good.
A third reviewer had mixed feelings about some of the dishes. They were not a fan of the crab rangoon, finding it to be mostly cream cheese and small. However, they appreciated the big portions of other items and loved the beef and broccoli. They found the rice to be bland and dry, but enjoyed the veggie lo mein. They were not fond of the egg drop soup, particularly the green onions in it. Despite these mixed opinions on specific dishes, they found the dinner deals to be really good and overall recommended the restaurant.
This reviewer also commented on the service, specifically addressing negative reviews they had seen. They noted that the person behind the counter is young, likely a relative in this small family business, but found her to be not rude, with their experience being typical of other small family-owned businesses. They received their order and receipt without issue.
In summary, China Lucky Star offers affordable Chinese food with large portions and both dine-in and takeout options. Lunch specials are priced at $7.95, and most dinners are $10.95. While some dishes receive mixed reviews (such as crab rangoon, rice, and egg drop soup), others like the beef and broccoli and veggie lo mein are well-received. The service is generally seen as friendly, particularly the waitress Angel. If you're looking for a budget-friendly Chinese meal with generous servings and the option to dine in, China Lucky Star is worth considering in Dearborn Heights.

So happy to find another Chinese place with dining room open, room for a dozen plus hungry folks. Food is still take out containers, the waitress Angel brought to us. Lowest Prices anywhere, all lunch specials $7.95 . And most dinner's only $10.95 with mega portions. I was here once 6 years ago when first opened, the food is spot on wonderful 😊. I had a fantastic mixed Chicken n Veggie dish with Rice and Egg Roll. She had the dinner portion Chicken Egg Foo Young with Rice Egg Roll and Brown Gravy 😋. Add a quart of Wonton Soup only $5 for the win. Going back really soon, Thanks Angel does it all, Cooking and Waitress great 😃 job. #chinaluckystar @chineseluckystar #lowprices #chickeneggfooyoung #wontonsoup #eggrolls #shachachicken #diningroomopen #downriverfriendseat
Cute little restaurant. Seems to be mostly take out, I assume since Covid, there is some seating though. They are very fast with orders. It’s a bit pricey but I felt the portions were good. I wasn’t a fan of the crab ragoon, it just tasted like cream cheese and they are fairly small. They give big portions though for everything else! I loved the beef and broccoli. The rice was very bland and lacked any flavor. It was quite dry too. The veggie lo mein is delicious!! I also didn’t really like the egg drop soup, the green onions in it weren’t great either. Their dinner deals are really good though! Overall i definitely recommend them. :) I do want to add that while not everything is great; the negative reviews directed at the service are odd to me. The person behind the counter IS young; I presume it’s a relative as this is a small business. She was not rude. My experience felt no different than any other small family owned business I’ve been to. They got my order, gave me my receipt. I helped myself to chop sticks and I left after we each said to have a good night. :)
General Tso was decent. Rice was bland. Fried Wontons were terrible. To top it off no fortune in the ONE cookie they gave us.
This was the most disgusting Chinese food I ever had. There was no flavor on anything. The meat was all very dry and over cooked. The rice had no flavor and tasted old as dis the egg rolls.
TL;DR- Food quality and quanity: trash Service: apathetic Price: nowhere near worth it Bad experience, will not return. First impressions: I see a small boy behind the counter before I even go inside, place is empty and there's faded food posters in the window. Get inside and what I assume is a young teenaged girl jumps up from behind the counter and asks "Pick up?!" Me: No Girl: *sits back down* I ask if they have sesame chicken and she says "yes. Is that it?" 😑 I begin ordering and after every...last....item..she asks "Is that it?" I ordered what I normally get from New Hong Kong, which is closed tonight. Total is $46-not bad. Orders done and she sets it on the counter, lists 2 of the 6 things I ordered and walks away. No 'thank you' no 'have a good night', nothing. Same items I get, $46. Only thing is the portions are way small. Large sesame chicken $12, theres barely 1 breast or thigh (w/e piece they use) in this container. Beef w/vegetables also skimpy. For $46 I'll learn how to make sesame chicken at home. Nothing tasted good, lacked seasonings.
