When choosing a local Chinese restaurant, it is always beneficial to consider the experiences shared by other customers. Recent reviews for China Lane in Boynton Beach present a stark contrast in opinions, highlighting both positive and significantly negative aspects of the establishment. One reviewer shared a very positive experience, specifically mentioning a staff member named Irene who was described as very welcoming to their family, especially the grandchildren. This reviewer also praised the food as excellent and well-priced. Notably, they mentioned having lived in Delray for 25 years and having dined at two other Chinese restaurants owned by their patients, stating that China Lane outperformed them. This positive feedback suggests that some customers have had a satisfactory experience with the food and service at China Lane.

However, another recent review paints a drastically different picture, describing the restaurant in extremely negative terms, even referring to it as an "asylum." This reviewer recounted several unsettling incidents during their visit. They claimed that upon arrival, a staff member served tea but placed their hands inside the teacup. The reviewer also described the waitress as very quiet when taking their order and responding to questions with laughter rather than verbal answers. Disturbingly, they reported hearing "scary things" in the kitchen, such as the sounds of a vacuum running or drilling. The atmosphere was described as "really bad," with mentions of drawings on the walls, dirt on the floor, and a significant presence of flies. Furthermore, the reviewer felt uncomfortable due to a staff member staring at them while they were eating. They also found the food to be very bland, noting the absence of salt on the fries. Upon attempting to add salt, they observed that the salt looked unusual and indicated they would attach images in their review. Finally, this reviewer reported that the fortune cookies had black dots on them. This detailed negative feedback raises serious concerns about hygiene, service, food quality, and the overall environment of China Lane.

Considering these two recent reviews, local users interested in China Lane face a dilemma. One review suggests a welcoming atmosphere with excellent and well-priced food, while the other describes a disturbing experience with poor service, questionable hygiene, and bland food. The stark contrast indicates a potential inconsistency in the restaurant's standards or perhaps vastly different individual experiences. It is important for potential customers to weigh these contrasting opinions when making their decision.

Typically, a Chinese restaurant menu includes a variety of dishes such as appetizers (e.g., spring rolls, egg rolls), soups (e.g., wonton, egg drop), rice and noodle dishes (e.g., fried rice, lo mein, chow mein), and a selection of main courses featuring chicken, beef, pork, and seafood prepared with various sauces and vegetables. Given the positive mention of "excellent" food by one reviewer, it is possible that China Lane offers well-prepared versions of these standard Chinese dishes. However, the other reviewer's description of "very bland" food, specifically the unsalted fries and the poorly perceived fortune cookies, contradicts this. Without a broader range of reviews or a menu, it is difficult to objectively describe the typical food offerings and their quality at China Lane.

The environment of China Lane is also portrayed very differently in the two reviews. One suggests a welcoming atmosphere, possibly due to the friendly staff mentioned. In contrast, the other review describes a "really bad" atmosphere with drawings on the walls, dirt on the floor, and flies, along with unsettling noises from the kitchen. This significant discrepancy makes it impossible to provide a reliable description of the restaurant's ambiance or cleanliness. Potential customers may want to consider the possibility of varying conditions or subjective perceptions.

In terms of services, China Lane appears to offer dine-in service, as suggested by the reviewer who mentioned Irene welcoming their family at the restaurant. The negative reviewer was also dining in. It is not explicitly stated whether they offer takeout or delivery services. The quality of service is also viewed differently, with one praising a welcoming staff member and the other detailing bizarre and unprofessional behavior from the waiter and unsettling interactions.

Features that might typically attract customers to a Chinese restaurant could include authentic regional cuisine, unique house specialties, a pleasant ambiance, or exceptional service. Based on the conflicting reviews, it is difficult to identify any consistently positive features of China Lane. The welcoming nature of one staff member is a positive point, but the numerous issues raised by the other reviewer overshadow this.

No promotional information, such as special offers, discounts, or lunch/dinner specials, is mentioned in the provided reviews. Therefore, it is not possible to comment on any current promotions that China Lane might be offering to attract local customers.

In conclusion, China Lane in Boynton Beach, FL, has received strongly contrasting reviews. One customer praised the welcoming staff and excellent, well-priced food, while another detailed a highly negative experience citing unsanitary conditions, unprofessional service, and bland food. Local users considering dining at China Lane should be aware of these divergent opinions and may want to proceed with caution or seek additional reviews from other sources to form a more comprehensive understanding of what to expect.

Okay there is a lot to say about this asylum I mean restaurant. When we walked in he brought tea to the table but put his hands in the teacup. Then the waiter came around and she was very quiet when I ordered. When I asked her something she would just laugh. I heard scary things in the kitchen like a vacuum running or drilling. The atmosphere was really bad there were drawings on the walls and dirt on the floor. There were a lot of flies too. The lady also was staring at me when I was eating look over the counter near me. The food was very bland no salt on the fries when I tried to pour salt on the fries the salt looked funny I will attach images of all of this in the review. Fortune cookies had black dots on them.

Had a quick lunch date with my wife in this place and we're glad that we are satisfied on our food. It was good! The service is nice! They have a big space so you can really enjoy eating with family & friends. Not the too pricy as well. Minus one star just because we know other Chinese restaurants that have better and tastier food. Overall, it's not that really bad!

My 83 year old mom loves to pick up their daily lunch specials and quarts of soup on a weekly basis. Today she picked up the soup and when she went to open the bag, the soup was all over the bag. My mom called to let them know that the top was not on correctly and the owner started yelling at her. She said “I’ve been putting on lids for 26 years and it’s not my fault it’s yours.” “The least you could do was admit it was your fault.” I am very upset that my mom was treated this way after being a loyal customer for so long. This is terrible customer service and not acceptable!

Nice atmosphere. The food is good and the service is great. I really liked the General Tso's chicken along with the hot and sour soup. The chicken is nicely cooked...not too breaded. The portions are good. The egg rolls are very tasty and crunchy. I'll be back.
