About China Kitchen

China Kitchen, situated at 777 Washington Ave #40 in Holland, Michigan, serves as a local option for those seeking Chinese cuisine. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, China Kitchen likely offers a menu featuring a variety of dishes that are popular in American Chinese cuisine, catering to the local community in Holland.

Typically, a Chinese restaurant's menu includes a selection of appetizers such as spring rolls, egg rolls, and crab rangoons, a variety of soups, fried rice and noodle dishes like lo mein and chow mein, and a range of entrees featuring chicken, beef, pork, and seafood prepared with different sauces and vegetables. Vegetarian options are also commonly available. The ambiance, service speed, and food quality are important aspects that contribute to the overall dining experience.

Based on the provided customer reviews, we can gather some insights into the environment of China Kitchen. One reviewer noted upon entering that "appearance and atmosphere was not the top priority of the restaurant," but also mentioned that it "wasn’t super dirty or anything." This suggests that while the decor might be basic or outdated, the cleanliness was not a major concern for this particular customer. However, it's important to note that this is just one person's observation. The overall atmosphere is likely functional and focused more on providing affordable food rather than a sophisticated dining setting.

In terms of services, the reviews provide some specific details. One customer mentioned that the staff seemed "friendly," which is a positive aspect of customer service. However, this reviewer was "surprised" to learn that China Kitchen does not accept credit cards, indicating a cash-only payment policy. This is an important piece of information for potential customers to be aware of. The food preparation was noted to be "pretty quickly," suggesting efficient service, particularly for takeout orders. Takeout service is implied as the reviewer took the food home. Dine-in service is also available, as the reviewer entered the restaurant to place their order.

The features of China Kitchen, as gleaned from the reviews, present a mixed picture. One positive aspect is the speed of service. The food was prepared quickly and was still reasonably hot upon arrival at the customer's home. In terms of food quality, the General Tso chicken with fried rice was described as "not overly disappointed or blown away," suggesting an average quality. The egg roll was "ok," but the crab rangoons were not well-received, with the reviewer noting an "odd texture and taste" and recommending to skip them. This indicates some inconsistency in the quality of different menu items. A significant negative feature highlighted by another reviewer is the extremely concerning report of finding "a worm a k a larva bug in my rice." This is a severe food safety issue. The reviewer also alleged that the restaurant did not want to offer a refund and instead suggested giving "more bugs to eat," further exacerbating the negative experience and raising serious questions about the restaurant's handling of such issues and their commitment to customer satisfaction and food safety.

One reviewer made a direct comparison to other Chinese restaurants in the area, namely Shanghai and China Inn on the north side, stating that China Kitchen is "not nearly as good" as these alternatives. This suggests that local diners may have other options they perceive to be of higher quality. The same reviewer also considered the "price vs the quality" and was unsure about returning, indicating that the value proposition might not be strong enough compared to other choices.

Currently, there is no mention of any promotional offers or special deals being advertised by China Kitchen based on the provided reviews. Local restaurants sometimes offer lunch specials or other promotions to attract customers, but no such information is available in the given data. To inquire about any potential specials or discounts, it would be best to contact the restaurant directly using the provided phone numbers: (616) 393-6888 or +1 616-393-6888, or by visiting their location at 777 Washington Ave #40, Holland, MI 49423.

In conclusion, China Kitchen in Holland, MI, offers Chinese cuisine with quick service and friendly staff. However, potential customers should be aware that the restaurant operates on a cash-only basis and that the ambiance is basic. The food quality appears to be average, with some dishes receiving negative feedback. Most concerning is a report of finding a bug in the rice, which raises significant food safety concerns and suggests a serious issue that potential diners should consider. Compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area, at least one reviewer found China Kitchen to be inferior. Given the mixed feedback and the serious food safety allegation, potential customers may want to exercise caution and consider other options if quality and hygiene are top priorities. For more information about the menu, hours of operation, and any potential promotions (and to confirm their payment policy), contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

It was late and China Kitchen was one of the only places in the area open that served Chinese food, so I thought I’d give it a try. Upon entering, it was apparent that appearance and atmosphere was not the top priority of the restaurant, but it wasn’t super dirty or anything so I went ahead and ordered. The staff seemed friendly but I was surprised when they told me that they did not accept credit cards. The food was ready pretty quickly and was still reasonably hot when I arrived home with it. I tried the General Tso chicken with fried rice and was not overly disappointed or blown away. The egg roll was ok but I would skip the crab rangoons, they just had an odd texture and taste. At the end of the day, China Kitchen is so-so but not nearly as good as other Chinese restaurants in the area such as Shanghai or China Inn on the north side. Given the price vs the quality, I’m not sure that I will return. If you do decide to try China Kitchen, make sure to bring cash.

Ordered Chicken Mei Fun noodles and Chicken Fried Rice. The chicken in both dishes was grey and kind of slimy. The noodles looked and tasted like noodles, cabbage, and carrots were just boiled in water and thrown into the takeout container. The fried rice was bright yellow and greasy but no flavor as well.

It has been years since I have had good General Tso's chicken. That dry spell ended tonight. I had a combination meal and every part of it was fantastic. The atmosphere is deeply casual and the minimal seating indicates a focus on takeout/delivery. Service was deeply friendly but not oppressive. I would love to go back when I am back in town. A+

Been coming here for over 15 years. Almost always has been good! Haven't had any issues or complaints besides that recently sometimes the food is slightly overcooked, maybe new owners over the years? Staff is friendly and food is good! I'd recommend taking the food to go because it's a very small building and there are only a couple small booths to sit at which isn't bad and are typically at these types of locations. This is definitely my local chinese food choice.
