About China Kitchen
Welcome to China Kitchen, a local Chinese restaurant situated at 9408 Apison Pike #110 in Collegedale, Tennessee. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, China Kitchen aims to provide a diverse menu of Chinese cuisine, catering to both dine-in and takeout customers in the Collegedale area. We strive to offer a range of dishes, from familiar favorites to perhaps some new culinary experiences.
Our Environment:
China Kitchen is described by one online reviewer as a "small restaurant." This suggests a more intimate and perhaps cozy setting for those choosing to dine in. While specific details about the décor and ambiance are limited based on the provided information, it indicates a potentially more personal and neighborhood-oriented feel compared to larger establishments. However, another reviewer raised concerns about the restaurant's sanitation, which is an important factor for potential customers to consider.
Our Services:
China Kitchen primarily offers services for both dining in and taking out. According to a positive review, the service was noted as "very fast," even during busy periods with a "steady stream of take out orders." This suggests efficiency in processing orders, particularly for customers who prefer to enjoy their meals off-site. The availability of a phone number, (423) 396-9898 or +1 423-396-9898, indicates that customers can easily place orders for pickup or inquire about the menu and other services.
Our Features and Menu Highlights:
Based on customer reviews, China Kitchen offers a variety of Chinese dishes. One positive aspect highlighted is that "Orders are freshly cooked so the vegetables are hot, slightly crisp and have not been sitting under a steam lamp." This suggests a commitment to preparing food to order, which can positively impact the taste and texture of the dishes. The same reviewer praised the "shrimp lo mein," noting it was "loaded with shrimp" and that the lunch portion was substantial enough for two meals. Additionally, the "dumplings" were described as being "crisp on the outside and steaming hot on the inside," indicating attention to proper preparation.
Furthermore, China Kitchen boasts a "wonderful menu of meat alternatives," which is a significant feature for vegetarian or vegan customers, offering a broader range of choices beyond traditional meat-centric Chinese cuisine. The price point was also mentioned favorably, with a lunch portion of lo mein including a "huge portion of fried rice" priced at $7.70, suggesting good value for money, at least for some dishes.
However, it's crucial to acknowledge the concerns raised in another review. This customer experienced issues with the quality of several dishes, including "dry, chewy, and stringy" General Tso's and orange chicken. The "egg rolls seemed under cooked and doughy," and the "fried rice was incredibly dry" with minimal vegetables. The "egg drop wonton soup" was described as having an undesirable "thick gloop" consistency and lacking flavor. While the "Mongolian Beef was a bit lacking on the beef," it was considered "much more edible" than the chicken dishes. These comments indicate potential inconsistencies in food quality that prospective customers should be aware of.
Promotional Information:
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. It would be advisable to contact China Kitchen directly at (423) 396-9898 or +1 423-396-9898 to inquire about any ongoing specials, lunch deals, or other promotions they might be offering to local customers. Checking local online platforms or social media, if available, might also provide insights into current offers.
Considering Customer Experiences:
The provided customer reviews present a mixed picture of China Kitchen. One reviewer had a very positive experience, praising the freshness of the food, generous portions, flavorful dishes like the shrimp lo mein and dumplings, fast service, and the availability of meat alternatives, all at a reasonable price. This suggests that China Kitchen has the potential to provide a satisfying dining experience.
However, the other review raises significant concerns about the quality of several key dishes, including the chicken preparations, egg rolls, fried rice, and soup. The description of the restaurant's cleanliness is also troubling. These points indicate potential issues with food preparation and hygiene standards that could impact a customer's decision to dine at China Kitchen.
Conclusion:
China Kitchen in Collegedale offers a menu of Chinese cuisine with the notable feature of meat alternatives. A positive review highlights freshly cooked vegetables, generous portions, and fast service, particularly for takeout. The lunch specials, as mentioned, may also offer good value. However, another customer experienced significant quality issues with several dishes and raised concerns about the restaurant's cleanliness. Potential customers should consider these contrasting experiences when making their decision. It may be beneficial to inquire about current food preparation practices and perhaps try a few different dishes to form a personal opinion on the quality and value offered by China Kitchen.

Customer Reviews
This was our preferred Chinese place but the quality of the food seems to have gone down so we'll be ordering elsewhere. The chicken (general tsos and orange) was dry, chewy, and stringy. The egg rolls seemed under cooked and doughy. The fried rice was incredibly dry and has hardly any veggies. The egg drop wonton soup is more of a thick gloop than soup, with little flavor, but was better after watering down and adding some seasoning. Mongolian Beef was a bit lacking on the beef but was much more edible than the chicken. The restaurant itself doesn't seem super sanitary either. It was a good value when the food was good but not anymore unfortunately.
This small restaurant is an amazing find in Collegedale. Orders are freshly cooked so the vegetables are hot, slightly crisp and have not been sitting under a steam lamp. My shrimp lo mein was loaded with shrimp and the lunch portion was enough for two meals. The dumplings were just as I like them, crisp on the outside and steaming hot on the inside. Service was very fast, even though they had a steady stream of take out orders. The price for a lunch portion of lo mein, which included a huge portion of fried rice, was $7.70. They have a wonderful menu of meat alternatives, too. This is worth a repeat visit.
Tasty food! If you don’t already know, you can get ANY dish with vegetarian meat substitute. I eat meat but my family does not, and this place satisfies all of us. My favorite from here is egg foo young, egg drop soup, and the sesame tofu. They also give large portions with free cream cheese wontons of varying amounts as you order over $30 in food. They are fast, affordable, and good for fast food. Dine in is a bit bland, so definitely don’t go here if you want ambience. It’s definitely a pickup and take home place.
Order Chinese food WHICH IS MY FAVORITE!!!! Food was Hard especially the general chicken! The shrimp fried rice only had maybe 2 shrimps in it & it seems as if they just threw it in the microwave and reheated it my girlfriend ordered the pepper steak combo it was literally more onions than anything!!! Would not recommend as an nice Sunday dinner
I've been to gatherings that would order party platters and takeout from China Kitchen, and it was all really good. I love their Lo Mein and Szechuan Chicken. This time I went with a friend to dine in for the first time. I got their Small Teriyaki Chicken which came with a side of rice. For me, I finished my rice portion quickly but the Teriyaki chicken entree was more than enough for me and I had a bunch leftovers. It was okay but I'm wanting to try other popular options.
