About China King

Welcome to China King, a Chinese restaurant located at 760 US-378, Lexington, SC 29072, USA. Serving the Lexington community, China King offers a variety of Chinese dishes for both dine-in and takeout. Based on recent customer feedback, experiences at China King appear to be quite polarized, with glowing praise from some customers contrasting sharply with strong criticism from others. This suggests that the quality and overall experience may vary for different patrons or across different menu items.

One enthusiastic reviewer had a highly positive experience, describing the "food and people here" as "amazing and very welcoming!" This suggests that China King may excel in both the quality of its cuisine and the hospitality of its staff, creating a pleasant and inviting atmosphere for its customers. This reviewer also specifically highlighted the availability of "loads of vegetarian options," which is a significant feature for those following a plant-based diet or looking for meat-free choices. The fact that this customer tries to visit China King at least once a week speaks volumes about their satisfaction and the positive impression the restaurant has made on them. This strong endorsement indicates that China King has the potential to be a go-to spot for Chinese food in the Lexington area, particularly for vegetarians.

However, a starkly contrasting review paints a very different picture of the dining experience at China King. This customer described their meal as "the saddest excuse for Chinese food ever." Their criticism focused on the basic sesame chicken, which they found to be overwhelmingly "breading" with only a "small piece of grey dried up mystery meat" inside. The sauce was described as "obnoxiously red" and tasting "of nothing but ketchup," indicating a significant deviation from what one would typically expect from this classic dish. This highly negative assessment led the reviewer to advise others not to "waste your money" and labeled the food as "shameful." This severe criticism raises serious concerns about the quality and authenticity of at least one of China King's dishes.

The significant disparity between these two reviews makes it difficult to form a definitive overall impression of China King. The positive review highlights excellent food, welcoming staff, and a notable selection of vegetarian options, suggesting a restaurant that caters well to certain dietary needs and provides a pleasant dining atmosphere. On the other hand, the negative review points to potentially very poor quality in at least one of their main dishes, raising red flags about the consistency and standards of their food preparation.

Given this conflicting feedback, prospective customers might want to exercise caution and perhaps consider trying dishes other than the sesame chicken, especially if vegetarian options are appealing. The positive reviewer's repeated visits suggest a consistent positive experience with the food they ordered, which was likely from the vegetarian section of the menu. This might indicate that the quality and taste can vary significantly across different types of dishes offered at China King.

Without further information regarding the restaurant's environment or specific services beyond dine-in and takeout, it is challenging to provide a more detailed description of these aspects. The reviews primarily focus on the food quality and customer service. The mention of "welcoming" staff in the positive review suggests that the service is generally friendly, but this is not addressed in the negative review, which is solely focused on the poor quality of the sesame chicken.

Similarly, there is no information available in these reviews about any promotional offers or special deals that China King might be currently running. Customers interested in such information would need to contact the restaurant directly. You can reach China King at (803) 808-2993 or +1 803-808-2993 to inquire about their menu, current specials, or to place an order.

In conclusion, China King in Lexington, SC, is a Chinese restaurant that has received strongly contrasting reviews. While one customer praised the amazing food, welcoming staff, and plentiful vegetarian options, another described the sesame chicken as exceptionally poor. This inconsistency suggests that customer experiences may vary. If you are a vegetarian in the Lexington area, the positive review indicates that China King could be a great option with a wide variety of choices. However, if you are considering ordering their sesame chicken, the negative review serves as a significant warning. It might be prudent to explore other dishes or perhaps try a small order first to gauge the quality based on your own preferences. Contacting the restaurant directly for more information about their menu and any ongoing promotions is always a good step before making a decision.

This is the saddest excuse for Chinese food ever. The most basic sesame chicken is nothing but breading and a small piece of grey dried up mystery meat. The sauce is obnoxiously red that taste of nothing but ketchup. Don't waste your money. Shameful

For a take out Chinese restaurant, I’d say it’s the best around. Hardworking local people that actually go the extra mile. Usually get the pork lo-mein and hot and sour soup and it’s cheaper and probably better for me than the local mcd’s combo meal. It’s a treat after all.

They have the good crispy noodles!!! The fried dumplings are really good, and they gave us a little cup of the spicy stuff for the general tsos so my toddler actually enjoyed it and The adults could add what they want. The rice needed a little more soy sauce and the sweet and sour chicken needed a little salt but overall the food was good.

Beef and Broccoli is pretty good. There was a little bit of grease over it and the rice tasted like it had been cooked in old oil. I’ve had sweet n sour chicken from here as well and preferred that meal over this one. Overall, I’ll eat here again!
