About China King

China King is a Chinese restaurant located at 925 Seaside Rd SW # 12 in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. Situated in a coastal area popular with both residents and tourists, China King offers a range of Chinese dishes. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of China King based on recent customer feedback found online, covering aspects such as the dining environment, service, food quality, and pricing.

Based on the available reviews, the environment for dining inside China King appears to be a point of concern for at least one customer. This reviewer noted that it was "pretty hot in the building" during their indoor dining experience, although they acknowledged that there could be various reasons for this. Another reviewer explicitly stated that the atmosphere "definitely not an atmosphere that invites inside dining," leading them to opt for a to-go order. This suggests that the ambiance for eating at the restaurant itself may not be the primary draw for customers.

In terms of services, China King offers both dine-in and takeout options. One customer mentioned eating inside after visiting the beach, while another chose to order to go due to the uninviting atmosphere for indoor dining. The restaurant also seems to handle walk-in orders. It is worth noting that China King does not offer fountain drinks but does have canned beverages available.

The quality of the food at China King receives mixed reviews. One customer described their order, which included shrimp with lobster sauce and bean curd (tofu) with garlic sauce, as "sooo good" and noted that it was made fresh. They also mentioned a side of nuggets, which was presumably for a child or someone with simpler tastes, and found it satisfactory. This positive review highlights the potential for enjoying well-prepared and flavorful dishes at China King.

However, another customer had a less favorable experience with the food, stating that it was "quite expensive, for the quality of it." They elaborated that the food wasn't bad but also wasn't particularly good, describing it as "just kind of meh." This suggests that the perceived quality might not always justify the price for all customers, and there could be inconsistencies in the dishes or overall culinary experience.

The service received at China King seems to be a more consistently positive aspect. The customer who was not impressed with the food specifically mentioned that "the lady who took my order was very nice" and that the service was fast. This indicates that the staff is friendly and efficient in processing orders, which can contribute to a satisfactory overall experience even if the food itself is not exceptional for everyone.

Pricing at China King is mentioned as a potential drawback by one reviewer, who found the food to be "quite expensive" relative to its perceived quality. This customer also felt that they could have prepared a tastier meal at home for half the cost, leading to regret about their purchase. This suggests that potential customers who are budget-conscious or have high expectations for the quality relative to the price may want to consider the cost factor when ordering from China King.

Features of China King include its location in Ocean Isle Beach, making it a convenient option for beachgoers and local residents. The availability of both dine-in and takeout services caters to different preferences. The menu appears to offer a variety of standard Chinese dishes, as indicated by the shrimp with lobster sauce and bean curd with garlic sauce mentioned in one review. The friendly and fast service reported by one customer is also a notable feature.

No specific promotional information or special offers were mentioned in the provided reviews. Customers interested in any discounts or special deals at China King would need to contact the restaurant directly to inquire.

In conclusion, China King in Ocean Isle Beach, NC, offers Chinese cuisine with both dine-in and takeout options. While one customer found the food to be very good and fresh, another considered it overpriced for the quality received. The service seems to be a positive aspect, with at least one reviewer noting the friendliness and speed of the staff. The atmosphere for indoor dining may not be ideal for all customers. Potential patrons should weigh these mixed reviews and consider their own priorities regarding food quality, price, service, and dining environment when deciding whether to visit China King.

So good. Stopped by after visiting the beach and got shrimp w lobster sauce, bean curd(tofu) w garlic sauce and a side of nuggets. Sooo good and made fresh. We ate inside and it was pretty hot in the building but there could be any reason for it! Def recommend. No fountain drinks but they do have cans!

The food was quite expensive, for the quality of it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't really good either. Just kind of meh. The lady who took my order was very nice, and they were fast. It's definitely not an atmosphere that invites inside dining, so we decided to order to go. I honestly regret spending he money there, could have spent half as much and cooked my own meal, to get much tastier food.

We live just a couple of minutes away from China King- over the years we’ve ordered many meals to-go from them for nights that we just don’t feel like cooking. We have our go-to dishes that we are OBSESSED with and are just sooooo delicious. One of the most underrated things about the menu is their white rice. Idk what brand or type of rice they use, but it is by far the best white rice I think I’ve ever had. Like seriously- with a little soy sauce on top, it is amazing. I think it might be sticky rice because it has a nice chew and bite to it. It pairs well with the main dishes and holds up to the different sauces. Don’t sleep on the white rice. Sometimes we joke that we should just buy a bag of their rice to use in our cooking at home. Here are our recommendations from the menu: Egg foo young with shrimp or roast pork- 18/10, generous portion size and good amount of fillings. REALLY yummy Bean Curd Szechuan Sauce 10,000/10 - this is tofu, for those of you who don’t know. And this is THE BEST TOFU ever. Even if you don’t like tofu you should still order this because it is delicious. My husband doesn’t like tofu, yet he REQUESTS the bean curd every time we order from china King. Sometimes we even get 2 orders of bean curd- it is THAT good. Also good with Homestyle sauce or garlic sauce. We do get the orange bean curd and general tso’s bean curd occasionally as well.. but these ones have a bit of a heavier fry and are sweeter which we have to be in the mood for Hot and Sour soup 9/10 (me), 10/10 (husband)- my husband SWEARS by this. I like it well enough and will have a bowl. It has a really good flavor and has a lot of veggies and egg. Is it better than egg foo young or the bean curd? In my opinion, no… but in my husband’s opinion he thinks it’s the best thing in the menu and can eat a large size all by himself. Their soups are all insanely cheap even for the large size which is also a plus. Soups definitely give you amazing bang for your buck. Chicken fried rice - 8/10 - this is kind of just your good ol’ chicken fried rice. Nothing fancy, nothing crazy, but a good addition to the meal and pairs especially well with the hot and sour soup. Pretty solid and has good flavor Admittedly, we haven’t really tried a whole lot else from their menu. We’ve discovered that we love these few dishes and just don’t want anything else because we can’t imagine other dishes as tasting as good as these. I’m sure that there are a lot of other really good things on their menu, but we’re too obsessed with the bean curd, egg foo young, and hot and sour soup to try anything else. We have, however, been thinking about trying the Chinese doughnuts for dessert next time we order from them. Sounds interesting and like a nice sweet treat at the end of the meal. Also, pro tip: if you leave a generous tip during the holiday season they will give you a really nice Chinese bamboo calendar. (But you should leave a generous tip all times of the year because the food is amazing, pricing is super cheap compared to other businesses in the area, and I’m pretty sure it’s family owned and operated and they always have done an amazing job with our food orders) We love China King!!! :)

Not sure why this place has as good of a rating and health score as it does. The food was super bland, over cooked, the lady taking our order was somewhat rude, and I could hear the guy in the back coughing while cooking. All in all not a great experience we got our food quickly and took a bite and left just about as fast as we got it to the table. Definitely would not recommend as a traveler to the area. This was probably the worse Chinese I’ve had and a major waste of 31 dollars on two entrees and one bottled drink to share. **came back to say that we threw the food away as soon as we got home because the smell of it was so much like feet that it was sickening on the car ride.DO NOT EAT HERE.
