About China King
Welcome to China King, your local Chinese restaurant situated at 305 NE Todd George Rd, Lee's Summit, MO 64086, USA. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, China King offers a traditional, no-frills dining experience for the Lee's Summit community and surrounding areas. Based on customer reviews, China King is known for its good food and generous portions, primarily catering to takeout customers while also offering a quiet dine-in option. However, it's worth noting some reported quirks regarding payment methods and service interactions.
China King appears to be primarily geared towards takeout service, as indicated by one reviewer who mostly orders takeout and observes frequent Uber Eats pickups. The same reviewer notes that the dine-in area is typically quiet, with only one or two tables occupied during their visits. This suggests that while dine-in is available, it might not be the restaurant's primary focus. For local users seeking the convenience of enjoying China King's food at home, takeout seems to be a popular and readily available option. The presence of Uber Eats suggests potential delivery through this third-party platform, although this is not explicitly stated for direct delivery from the restaurant. To confirm all available service options, including dine-in, takeout, and any delivery services, it is recommended to contact China King directly at (816) 525-8868 or +1 816-525-8868.
The environment of China King is described by one reviewer as a "traditional divey strip mall date spot," characterized by "frosted bamboo stalk pattern windows," a "traditional backlit plastic menu board," and "little tiny red booths with glass koi fish dividers for extra privacy." This paints a picture of a classic, older-style Chinese restaurant ambiance with a somewhat dated but perhaps nostalgic charm. The description suggests a casual and unpretentious setting. The quiet atmosphere in the dine-in area, with few tables occupied, might appeal to those seeking a more private or less crowded dining experience. However, those looking for a modern or lively ambiance might find it less appealing.
The service at China King receives mixed feedback. One reviewer who mostly does takeout does not extensively comment on the dine-in service beyond noting its quietness. However, another reviewer recounts several negative experiences related to payment and order placement. They mention being told they couldn't use a debit card due to an unexplained "internet deal" linked to a certain order amount, which "made no sense." On a separate occasion, the same reviewer reported being treated rudely for wanting to use a debit card for a single item. This strongly suggests a preference for cash payments and potential friction when using debit cards, especially for smaller orders. Additionally, the reviewer noted a long quoted wait time of 35 to 40 minutes for a single dish and an abrupt phone interaction where their name wasn't even taken before the call was ended. These incidents indicate potential inconsistencies and issues with customer service, particularly regarding payment policies and phone order handling. Despite these negative service experiences, the first reviewer simply notes "no bells or whistles" but implies acceptable service for takeout.
A key feature of China King is the quality and quantity of its food. One reviewer states, "the food is good" and "nothing fancy all exactly made as you'd expect," suggesting a reliable and familiar taste for classic Chinese dishes. Another reviewer explicitly mentions that "The food is better than China 88 the other easy carry out Chinese restaurant in town" and describes the food as "always great and lot!" This highlights both the good quality and the generous portion sizes offered at China King. However, a different reviewer's experience with "chicken and vegetables" resulted in a "pretty bland" brown sauce, contrasting with a previous order of the same dish that came with a "nice pleasant white 'clearishsauce'." This indicates potential inconsistency in sauce preparation for the same dish. Overall, while the general consensus points to good food and large portions, there might be occasional variations in specific dishes.
Regarding promotional information, the provided customer reviews do not mention any specific promotions, discounts, or special offers currently available at China King. The first reviewer notes that they "don't take AMEX" and "love cash," which is more of a payment policy than a promotion. The reviews do not mention any lunch specials, family deals, or other discounts. To stay informed about any potential promotions or special offers, local users are advised to contact China King directly at (816) 525-8868 or +1 816-525-8868. They may also have information about any specials available at the restaurant itself.
In conclusion, China King in Lee's Summit, MO, offers a traditional, "divey" Chinese restaurant experience with a focus on takeout. It is known for its good food and large portions, often considered better than other local takeout options. The dine-in environment is quiet and characterized by a classic, somewhat dated décor. However, potential customers should be aware of reported issues with customer service, particularly regarding payment methods, with a strong preference for cash and potential rudeness when using debit cards, especially for single items. There also seems to be some inconsistency in the preparation of certain dishes, such as the sauces. Despite these drawbacks, if you are looking for straightforward, good-tasting Chinese food in generous quantities for takeout and are prepared to pay with cash, China King might be a suitable option. For dine-in, it offers a quiet and private setting. To inquire about their menu, services, and any potential promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended, keeping in mind the reported payment preferences.

If you're looking for a traditional divey strip mall date spot, this is your Chinese restaurant. It doesn't get more divey than this - with frosted bamboo stalk pattern windows, your traditional backlit plastic menu board, and little tiny red booths with glass koi fish dividers for extra privacy. I've done takeout from here mostly And see lots of Uber Eats come through Only one or two tables sat every time I've come in So it's definitely a quiet spot. They don't take AMEX, and they love cash. No bells or whistles, but the food is good. Nothing fancy all exactly made as you'd expect.
The food is better than China 88 the other easy carry out Chinese restaurant in town. Food is always great and lot! They use their phone line for the Internet they said ?? so after not telling me anything on the phone, when I went in one time, she told me that I couldn’t pay with a debit card because I had a certain amount and the internet deal..? Made no sense. But I went in a different time and she got rude that I want to use a debit card for just one order again. So bring cash or don’t order just one item unless you want to get snipped at. They also told me 35 to 40 minutes just for this one dish today, seems like a long time for one thing and that she didn’t even ask my name and hung up. Ordered chicken and vegetables, and it came with this brown sauce… It was pretty bland, but it was all right… Last time it came with a nice pleasant white “clearishsauce”
Do not be decieved by the look of this place. The staff and food are amazing! I use to work with one of the staff members here at a previous job, and she was one of the best supervisors I have had. The food is great portions for a decent price, and it all tastes amazing! Do not pass up on this place, it is super tasty, well made, and the staff are kind and sweet.
Ordered dinner here last night because we were craving Chinese and haven’t had it since we moved to KC, and this will be our new go-to restaurant for carry out!! We originally ordered the Mongolian beef with white rice, honey chicken with fried rice, and crab rangoon and ended up going back an hour later for another order of crab Rangoon and fried rice. (It was THAT good!) I surprisingly interacted with different staff both times I went and each time, were the KINDEST people I’ve met. It was refreshing (and rare) to go somewhere with great food AND great service. 10/10 would recommend!!
Best crab Rangoon around and the moo shoo chicken is delicious. We moved out of state 3 years ago and were in town for an event. Nothing has changed but the prices. So for over 10 years this place has been owed by the same people and their food and serving sizes have remained consistent. Only downside is they do not deliver.
