About China King
Welcome to China King, a Chinese restaurant located at 148 N Delaware St in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, China King primarily focuses on providing carry-out services to its customers. Situated in a downtown location, it offers a convenient option for individuals working or residing in the area who are looking for a quick and easy meal to enjoy elsewhere. Potential customers can contact China King at (317) 685-8630 or +1 317-685-8630 to place their orders.
According to one customer's first-time experience, the physical premises of China King are described as "small, but it's clean and organized." This suggests that while the restaurant might not have a large dining area, it maintains a level of cleanliness and orderliness suitable for its primary function as a carry-out establishment. The reviewer also noted that the size is appropriate for a business focused on takeout orders. This indicates that customers can expect a neat and efficient environment when picking up their food.
In terms of services, China King exclusively offers carry-out. This is a crucial piece of information for potential customers who are looking to dine at the restaurant itself. The positive first-time reviewer mentioned that this carry-out-only model suited their needs as they intended to eat at home anyway. The service experience was also highlighted positively, with the customer noting that "the lady that took my order was very nice." This suggests a friendly and helpful interaction when placing and picking up orders, which can significantly enhance the overall customer satisfaction, especially for a business centered around takeout.
The features of China King, based on the two provided reviews, present contrasting perspectives on the food quality. The positive first-time reviewer was highly satisfied with their order of sweet and sour chicken. They specifically mentioned receiving "alot of food for a decent price," indicating good value for money. The sweet and sour chicken came in a "fairly good sized container that was filled to the top" with a generous portion of both chicken and fried rice. Additionally, a "large container of sweet and sour sauce and a fortune cookie" were included, all for a total of $7.52. The reviewer described the meal as "very delicious" and expressed their intention to return for more Asian food in the future. They also appreciated the extended lunch hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., which could be a convenient option for those seeking an early or late lunch.
However, the second review offers a significantly different assessment of the food quality. This customer stated that they had "definitely had better Chinese than this." Their specific criticisms focused on the pork egg roll, which they found to have "no noticeable meat" and cabbage that "tasted old." They went as far as to say that they had experienced better egg rolls from the frozen food section of a grocery store. Similarly, their experience with the chicken lo mein was negative, implying a lack of quality or flavor. This reviewer expressed disappointment, especially given the downtown location, suggesting an expectation of higher food standards in such areas. Ultimately, they decided to discard their meal and opt for another Chinese restaurant, Rice King, instead.
The stark contrast between these two reviews indicates a potential inconsistency in the food quality at China King, or perhaps different dishes vary significantly in their preparation and taste. The positive review highlights affordability and generous portions for the sweet and sour chicken, while the negative review strongly criticizes the quality of the pork egg roll and chicken lo mein. Potential customers might want to consider these differing experiences when making their decision.
Currently, the provided information does not include any specific promotional details for China King. Carry-out restaurants sometimes offer lunch specials or combo deals, especially during their stated lunch hours. To find out if China King is currently running any special offers or has a specific lunch menu with discounted prices, it would be best to contact the restaurant directly using the provided phone numbers: (317) 685-8630 or +1 317-685-8630. You can also inquire about their full menu and pricing when you call.
In conclusion, China King in downtown Indianapolis is a Chinese restaurant that primarily offers carry-out services. One first-time customer praised the generous portions, delicious sweet and sour chicken, and friendly service at a decent price, also appreciating their long lunch hours. However, another customer had a negative experience with the pork egg roll and chicken lo mein, citing a lack of quality and flavor. Potential customers should be aware of these contrasting reviews and might want to consider trying specific dishes based on the positive feedback, or perhaps inquire about the freshness and preparation methods when placing their orders. For information on their full menu and any current promotions, contacting China King directly is recommended.

Today was my first time ever ordering from China King. You can only order carry out, but I wanted to eat it at home anyway, so that was fine. The place is small, but it's clean and organized, and doesn't need to be big for carry out orders anyway. The lady that took my order was very nice. I got alot of food for a decent price. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken. It came in a fairly good sized container that was filled to the top with alot of chicken and fried rice. It also came with a large container of sweet and sour sauce and a fortune cookie, all for a total of $7.52. It was very delicious and I will be going there again when I'm hungry for Asian food. Also, I love that their lunch hours are from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. Thank you.
Definitely had better Chinese than this. Pork egg roll had no noticeable meat and cabbage tasted old. Have had better egg rolls from frozen food section of grocery store. Chicken lo mein was a similar story. Think places downtown would pride themselves in their food but I guess they just rely on having a good location instead of good food. Tossing this and getting rice king on my way home.
Great hidden restaurant! Amazing place to get lunch! Recommend their house special fried rice! So good I almost finished it before I got home! Will be coming back for more! They got a repeat customer if their food and service continues to be great!
The WORST!!! If I could submit ZERO stars I would! I ordered “fried rice” it is yellow rice with peas and carrots, sweet and sour chicken that was little pieces of fried crispy crunchy dough, and shrimp and lobster sauce that was all horrible! The shrimp egg roll has no shrimp just cabbage. The shrimp and lobster sauce was a messy mixture of mushrooms, peas, carrots, shrimp and little mushy white substance that was supposed to be lobster “I think” but looks like what is left over floating in the water after you boil crab legs… and NO SAUCE! Disgusting! The menu does not state anything about mushrooms. I have never seen anything like this in my life and I have traveled all over. I kindly called and spoke to the manager, Demi(or something like that), nicely when I got home to explain that I can not eat this bowl of whatever this was and she was very rude! I told her I can not come back and have to get rid of this so I asked for a refund. I had to order another meal from a different restaurant and pay for delivery, tip, and fee. She was NOT ACCOMMODATING AT ALL. She did not care! This was my first and absolute LAST TIME ordering anything from China King and giving them my money. I don’t care if it is free. The customer service and food is horrible!!! I normally read reviews before my first time going to a restaurant and I regret not doing so this time. DO NOT EAT THERE!!!! You will be highly disappointed!
Would give 4.5 stars if I could. I get takeout from here for lunch and it’s a great value for the lunch specials. Their chicken and broccoli and general tsos chicken are my favorite. I’m ordering from here on a weekly basis.
