About China King
China King is a Chinese restaurant located at 5921 NC-11 in Pink Hill, North Carolina, serving the local community with a range of Chinese-American cuisine. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, China King primarily operates as a takeout establishment, although it does offer a limited number of tables for customers who wish to dine in. Based on recent customer reviews, China King appears to be a local favorite for specific dishes, while also presenting areas that potential customers might want to consider.
One customer highlighted China King as "the only local place to get sweet and sour pork!" This strong endorsement suggests that their rendition of this classic dish is a significant draw for patrons in the Pink Hill area. The same reviewer also praised the "fantastic shrimp fried rice" and noted that the egg rolls were "good as well." This positive feedback indicates that these particular menu items are well-received and contribute to the restaurant's appeal within the local community. The reviewer concluded by stating, "We will be back," signifying a positive overall experience and an intention for future patronage.
Another customer provided a more mixed review, acknowledging that China King is an "okay place to come and take out." While they confirmed the availability of "a few tables to eat in," they noted a significant drawback: the interior of the restaurant was "way too hot." This suggests that the dine-in environment might not be comfortable, particularly during warmer months, potentially making takeout the more appealing option for many customers. Regarding the food itself, this reviewer described it as "okay" but not exceptional, stating, "it's not like wow but it's okay." This provides a more moderate assessment of the general food quality, suggesting it meets a basic level of satisfaction without being particularly outstanding.
This second review also pointed out several areas where China King could benefit from updates. The customer mentioned that "they need to update everything," specifically noting that "the menu bored is all faded out and it old in there." This indicates that the restaurant's physical appearance and possibly its operational systems might seem outdated to some patrons. A significant point of concern raised was that China King "still do only cash," which this reviewer believes is a sign that they "need to upgrade badly" and are "way behind time on everything." In an increasingly cashless society, this policy could be inconvenient for many customers and might deter some from patronizing the establishment. Finally, the reviewer noted an environmental factor, stating that it "smells kinda musky" inside the restaurant, which could detract from the overall dining or takeout experience.
Considering these two reviews, China King in Pink Hill appears to be a locally known Chinese restaurant that excels in certain dishes, notably the sweet and sour pork and shrimp fried rice, which are highly praised. The egg rolls are also considered a good option. For these specific items, China King might be a go-to choice for residents of Pink Hill and the surrounding areas. However, potential customers should be aware of the reported drawbacks. The dine-in environment might be uncomfortable due to excessive heat, and the overall ambiance seems dated, with a faded menu board and a musky smell. Furthermore, the cash-only payment policy could be a significant inconvenience for many.
The service at China King is not explicitly detailed in these reviews, although the positive reviewer's intention to return suggests a satisfactory level of interaction. The second reviewer's comments focus more on the physical environment and operational aspects rather than direct service interactions. However, the fact that they consider it an "okay place to come and take out" implies that the process of ordering and receiving food for takeout is likely reasonably efficient.
In terms of features, China King's standout feature seems to be its local reputation for specific dishes like sweet and sour pork and shrimp fried rice. The availability of a few dine-in tables, while potentially uncomfortable due to the heat, does offer an option for those who prefer to eat their meal at the restaurant. However, the cash-only policy and the outdated environment are significant features that might deter some customers.
Currently, no promotional information is available in the provided text. Local users interested in learning about any specials, discounts, or menu updates at China King would need to contact the restaurant directly using the phone numbers provided: (252) 568-2588 or +1 252-568-2588. Given the limited and somewhat dated impression from the reviews, it might be particularly helpful to inquire about any recent updates to the menu or the restaurant's facilities.
In conclusion, China King in Pink Hill, NC, offers a local option for Chinese takeout, with specific dishes like sweet and sour pork and shrimp fried rice receiving positive mentions. While a limited dine-in service is available, customers should be aware that the interior has been described as hot and somewhat outdated, with a musky smell. Additionally, China King operates on a cash-only basis, which might be inconvenient for some. For local residents specifically seeking their sweet and sour pork or those who prioritize takeout and are prepared for the cash-only policy, China King might be a viable option. However, those looking for a comfortable dine-in experience or the convenience of card payments might want to consider other alternatives.
