About China King

China King, located at 120 E Shiloh Dr, Red Bud, IL 62278, USA, is a Chinese restaurant serving the local community. The restaurant can be contacted by phone at (618) 282-1688 or via its mobile number, +1 618-282-1688. As a Chinese restaurant, China King aims to provide a range of popular Chinese-American dishes, catering to individuals and families seeking Asian cuisine in the Red Bud, Illinois area.

The environment of China King, based on customer impressions, presents a mixed picture. One reviewer's "first impression" upon arrival was of a "flickering light bulb in the doorway that made me feel like I pulled up to the St. Louis slums." This suggests that the exterior appearance might not be particularly inviting or well-maintained. Upon entering, the interaction at the counter was described as unwelcoming, with the staff not greeting the customer, smiling, or speaking, simply holding out a hand for the card before handing over the food and walking away. This feedback indicates a lack of warmth or professional courtesy in the customer service environment. Conversely, another review simply states "Nice place," which could imply that, beyond initial impressions or specific interactions, the interior is functionally adequate, or perhaps that the overall impression is subjective and varies between customers. Typically, Chinese restaurants in strip malls or standalone buildings like this one offer a utilitarian space for ordering and waiting, with limited or no dedicated dine-in seating, emphasizing efficiency for takeout orders.

In terms of services, China King primarily offers takeout and potentially delivery options, as is common for many Chinese restaurants. The provided phone numbers allow customers to place orders directly for pickup. While explicit details about delivery services are not provided in the reviews, most Chinese restaurants in similar settings do offer local delivery. The mention of "my order" being picked up suggests a well-established takeout system. Their operating hours, based on common online listings for similar establishments, are generally consistent for lunch and dinner service throughout most of the week, though specific daily hours should always be confirmed directly with the restaurant or through their official online presence.

The features of China King are centered around its menu of Chinese dishes. While a full menu is not provided, one review mentions "beef Mongolian," indicating that classic Chinese-American dishes are available. However, a significant issue was reported with this dish: "my beef Mongolian has no beef, so I ended up with a veggie meal." This points to a severe lapse in food preparation or quality control, where a key ingredient was entirely missing from a named dish. The reviewer also stated that the food was a "no go for me" as someone "from Memphis," which could imply a difference in taste expectations or a perceived lack of quality compared to Chinese food in other regions. In contrast, another general positive sentiment about the restaurant's offerings is not explicitly provided in the snippets. Typically, a Chinese restaurant menu would feature a wide array of appetizers (e.g., egg rolls, crab rangoons), various fried rice, lo mein, and chop suey dishes, along with main courses featuring chicken, pork, beef, and seafood prepared in common styles like General Tso's, Sesame, Sweet & Sour, and Hunan. The availability of these classics is usually a core feature for such establishments.

Regarding promotional information, no specific ongoing promotions or special deals for China King in Red Bud are detailed in the provided information. Unlike some establishments that highlight lunch specials or family deals, the available reviews do not mention any particular value-added offerings. Any potential promotions would need to be confirmed directly with the restaurant or through their online platforms, if they exist. The current customer feedback does not suggest any unique promotional draws beyond the standard offerings of a Chinese restaurant.

Customer reviews for China King in Red Bud reveal significant concerns, particularly regarding service and food accuracy. One review details a highly negative "first impression" due to an unkempt exterior and an extremely un-friendly interaction with counter staff, characterized by a complete lack of greeting, smile, or verbal communication. More critically, the "beef Mongolian" order was missing its main protein, effectively becoming a "veggie meal," which is a fundamental error in food preparation. This customer's overall assessment was "The worst ran china king I’ve been to." Another review, while brief, states "Great service. Nice place." This starkly contrasts the previous account, suggesting that service quality might be inconsistent or that individual experiences can vary wildly. However, the same reviewer from Memphis found the "food was a no go for me," implying a dissatisfaction with the taste or culinary standard. The collective feedback points to substantial inconsistencies in both customer service and food quality, making it difficult to form a reliably positive impression based solely on these reviews.

In conclusion, China King at 120 E Shiloh Dr, Red Bud, IL 62278, operates as a Chinese restaurant offering takeout and potentially delivery services. While one brief review mentions "Great service" and a "Nice place," other more detailed feedback highlights significant concerns. These include a potentially uninviting exterior and very poor customer service interactions, characterized by a lack of greeting or basic courtesy. Furthermore, a critical issue with food accuracy was reported, where a named dish was missing its primary ingredient (beef from Mongolian Beef). The overall impression from detailed reviews suggests that food quality might not meet all customer expectations, and service can be inconsistent and unwelcoming. Prospective customers in Red Bud should consider these varied experiences when deciding to order from China King, particularly regarding the reported issues with order accuracy and customer interaction.

First impression, there’s a flickering light bulb in the doorway that made me feel like I pulled up to the St. Louis slums. Walked in for my order and the woman doesn’t say hello, no smile, just holds out her hand for my card then hands me the food and walks away. I go home and my beef Mongolian has no beef, so I ended up with a veggie meal. The worst ran china king I’ve been to

Myself, my friends and my family order from this location relatively often. The last time I ordered, they forgot my crab Rangoon. It was no problem because I was supposed to have a credit for my next order. Unfortunately Stacy started question my ethics and that she thought I was making the whole thing up. Not asking for any information on the account, she just felt it was not true. This was at the end of making a $50 order for pick up tonight!!!! I will no longer be going to this place. And I will almost guarantee that my friends and family will not be visiting this place anytime soon. Making a mistake is fine. But own up to it and make the situation right. Hundreds of dollars lost over something I paid for and never received. And somehow I end up being the bad guy. I don’t have any place for that in my community. I’ll drive 5 minutes further for another joint. The food is good though. Good luck.

Food is great. Taste is on point. Service is very quick. I normally order at 10:30 when they open before my lunch, & I pick up by 11 give or take about 5 mins. Atmosphere is good. Not alot of seating areas to dine in. Regardless they are respectful and try to get your food to you in a timely fashion.

My daughter and I came for lunch with my infant grandson. The food is good. If you dine in, they put your meal in to go containers and you pick it up at the counter just like it's to go.
