About China King

China King is a Chinese restaurant situated at 2026 Lexington Ave # 2 in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City. As a part of the diverse Chinese restaurant landscape in the city, China King aims to provide a range of Chinese culinary offerings to local residents and visitors. The provided customer reviews present a stark contrast in experiences, which is crucial for local users to consider when deciding whether to patronize this establishment.

Information regarding the environment of China King is limited. One reviewer who considers it their "Favorite Chinese spot in the entire city" and mentions a long-standing presence of the same crew does not explicitly describe the decor or ambiance. The other, highly critical review focuses solely on the perceived quality of the food and does not comment on the physical setting of the restaurant. Therefore, local users seeking details about the restaurant's atmosphere or cleanliness will need to rely on personal observations or potentially other sources of information not included here.

The reviews offer conflicting perspectives on the service at China King. One long-time customer praises the "excellent customer service" provided by the "same crew" who have been there for decades, even referring to them as "friends." This positive feedback suggests a level of familiarity and satisfaction with the service over an extended period. However, the customer who reported receiving what they believed to be old and contaminated food mentioned calling the store to notify them. While the restaurant did offer a refund upon the return of the food, the customer questioned the rationale behind wanting the potentially spoiled food back. This interaction, while resulting in a refund offer, might raise concerns about the restaurant's handling of food quality issues and customer complaints for some local users.

The features of China King, based on the limited information, appear to be rooted in offering standard Chinese takeout fare. The negative review mentioned ordering "fried chicken," "rice with garlic sauce," and "shrimp," suggesting these are part of their menu. The positive review, while not detailing specific dishes ordered at China King, implies a consistent quality and taste that the customer has not found replicated elsewhere in the city for their "go to order." This suggests that China King might have specific preparations or recipes that are particularly appealing to some customers.

However, the significant concern raised in one review regarding the quality and freshness of the food cannot be ignored. The customer described finding "black bacteria" on the fried chicken, a "garbage smell" in the rice (allegedly masked by garlic sauce), and "extremely chewy" shrimp that smelled bad. These are serious allegations regarding food safety and quality that would understandably deter potential customers. The reviewer's decision to discard the food immediately and their strong negative reaction ("took the cake !!!") underscore the severity of their perceived experience.

The stark contrast between the two reviews is notable. One customer expresses strong loyalty and satisfaction over many years, while the other reports a severely negative experience with food quality. This discrepancy might suggest inconsistencies in food preparation or quality control, or it could reflect vastly different individual experiences and expectations. Local users should consider this wide range of feedback when evaluating China King.

There is no information provided in the reviews regarding any promotional offers or special deals at China King. Therefore, it is not possible to include any details about discounts, combo meals, or other promotions that the restaurant might be offering to attract customers. Local users interested in such information would need to contact the restaurant directly or look for any advertisements they might have in the local area.

In conclusion, China King in Harlem, New York City, presents a complex picture based on the limited customer feedback available. While one long-time customer considers it their favorite Chinese spot in the city, praising the consistent quality and excellent service from the long-standing staff, another customer reported a highly negative experience with what they believed to be old and contaminated food. This significant discrepancy in reviews suggests potential inconsistencies in food quality or vastly different individual experiences. Local users should carefully consider both perspectives when deciding whether to try China King. Those who have had positive experiences might find it to be a reliable local favorite, while others might be understandably wary due to the serious concerns raised about food quality in one of the reviews. For those wishing to inquire further or place an order, China King can be contacted at (212) 876-6688 or +1 212-876-6688. It would be advisable for potential new customers to perhaps try a small order initially to assess the current quality and standards for themselves.

I do not understand why this Chinese restaurant has 4.1 stars and they sell old food. I literally had to throw both of my orders in the garbage after eating some. Not knowing how bad it was. The fried chicken had some kind of black bacteria that my boyfriend noticed after tasting 🤢🤢 the rice had a garbage smell to it with garlic sauce for a cover up. The shrimp were extremely chewy, we felt like we were chewing for so long before spitting it out. It smelled so bad that I had to take my garbage out IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called the store to notify and they did offer to give me my money back but ONLY IF I GAVE THE FOOD BACK but what did they want old food back for ? 🤔 it’s clear that this is a normal cycle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never leave bad reviews but this one right here took the cake !!!

The same crew has been here for decades & the costumer service is excellent from my friends here at china king. Couldn’t recommend a better place in Harlem!
