About China King Buffet

Welcome to China King Buffet, a Chinese restaurant located at A114 Morganton Heights Blvd in Morganton, North Carolina. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, China King Buffet traditionally aimed to provide an all-you-can-eat dining experience featuring a variety of Chinese-American dishes to the local community. Situated in the Morganton Heights Boulevard area, it has historically been an accessible option for those seeking a buffet-style meal with Chinese culinary influences.

For those interested in making inquiries, China King Buffet can be contacted at (828) 433-8991 or via their mobile number, +1 828-433-8991. These contact methods allow potential customers to get in touch with the restaurant for information regarding their current menu, hours of operation, and pricing.

Based on recent customer reviews, the experience at China King Buffet appears to be undergoing significant changes, leading to strong and varied reactions from patrons. One recent reviewer described their experience as "horrible all the way around." They mentioned a total cost of $38 and some change for two adults, which they felt was excessive for the quality of food received. The food was described as lukewarm and "completely disgusting," to the point where the reviewer stated they would not even feed it to their dog. This customer also noted an issue with the wait staff's inability to handle a simple drink order (though they clarified they had not ordered it, it was on their ticket). They expressed extreme dissatisfaction, wishing they could give a negative star rating.

Another reviewer, who had been a customer for approximately nine years, reported a noticeable decline in their recent visit. They mentioned a significant price increase, with a meal for two adults and one child costing $54, which they estimated to be a $10 to $15 increase from previous experiences. More strikingly, this reviewer noted a complete change in the menu. According to their account, the majority of the food offerings were now Hispanic and American-based, including items like tamales, elote, wings, mashed potatoes, fried fish, and Hispanic-style chicken and beef. The Asian-American dishes that were still available were described as poorly flavored and not typical. This long-term customer's primary issue was the lack of any prior notice regarding this substantial menu change, leading them to conclude that they would no longer dine at China King Buffet, expressing sadness as it had previously been considered one of the best dine-in Chinese options in the Burke and McDowell counties area.

These reviews paint a picture of a restaurant that may be in the midst of a significant transition. The drastic menu change, incorporating a large selection of Hispanic and American dishes alongside a perceived decline in the quality and authenticity of the remaining Asian-American options, seems to be a major point of concern for at least one long-term customer. The negative experience of the other reviewer, citing inedible food and service issues, further suggests a potential decline in overall standards.

Traditionally, as a "Chinese Buffet," China King Buffet would have offered a wide array of Chinese-American dishes in a self-serve format. This typically includes a variety of appetizers, soups, numerous main courses featuring different meats and vegetables, rice and noodle dishes, and desserts. The recent reviews, however, indicate a significant departure from this traditional model, with a substantial portion of the buffet now featuring Hispanic and American cuisine. The specific Asian-American dishes still offered and their quality are now in question based on the customer feedback.

Details about the environment and ambiance of China King Buffet are not extensively covered in these reviews. Buffet-style restaurants typically focus on functionality and accommodating a large number of diners. The atmosphere is usually casual and geared towards self-service. The mention of wait staff walking around eating with bare hands off the buffet bar in one review raises concerns about hygiene practices within the dining area.

In terms of services, China King Buffet primarily operates as a buffet restaurant, offering an all-you-can-eat experience. The reviews do not explicitly mention takeout or delivery services, so it is unclear if these options are available. The issue with the wait staff's handling of a drink order (even if not the one requested) suggests that table service for beverages is part of their operation. The reported price increase might reflect changes in their service model or the cost of the new menu offerings.

Features that previously might have defined China King Buffet, such as a consistent quality of Chinese-American food and reliable service, are now being questioned by recent experiences. The long-standing customer's initial positive impression suggests that the restaurant may have once been known for its food and service in the local area. However, the recent drastic menu change and the negative feedback on food quality and hygiene indicate a potential shift in their core identity and standards.

Currently, there is no promotional information available for China King Buffet in the provided reviews. Buffets sometimes offer discounts for children, seniors, or during specific times. Given the significant changes reported, any previous promotions may no longer be applicable. Potential customers would need to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about current pricing and any special offers.

In conclusion, China King Buffet in Morganton, NC, appears to be undergoing a major transformation, with a significant shift in its menu to include a large selection of Hispanic and American dishes alongside a perceived decline in the quality of its Asian-American offerings. Recent customer reviews express strong dissatisfaction with food quality, hygiene practices, and a lack of communication regarding these changes. While the restaurant may have had a positive reputation in the past, recent experiences suggest a considerable departure from its original identity as a Chinese buffet. Potential customers are strongly advised to contact the restaurant directly to understand the current menu, pricing, and service standards before deciding to dine there.

Horrible experience all the way around. For me and my wife it was $38 and some change. Payable as soon as you walk in the door For that amount I would expect food that I could eat. The food was like warm at best and just completely disgusting, I wouldn't feed it to my dog. Wait staff couldn't even do a 1/2 sweet 1/2 unsweet tea, not that we had ordered that but that was on our ticket. I wouldn't just give it zero stars if I could but rather negative stars.

I have been going to this Chinese restaurant for around 9 years. Food and service have always been consistent and relatively good. Today was a different story. First our meal for three meals (2 adults and one 8 year old) was $54!! That's about a $10/$15 increase from previous experiences. The wait staff was walking around getting food with bare hands off the bar and walking around eating. Most importantly the menu was COMPLETELY changed. Majority of the food was Hispanic and American based (tamales, elote, wings, mashed potatoes, fried fish, Hispanic chicken and beef). The Asian-American dishes that were available were terribly flavored and not regular. My main issue with the menu change is the complete lack of notice. Sad to say will not be dinning here again. Which is unfortunate, considering it was one of the best dine in options for Chinese over burke and McDowell county.

Terrible service from walking in to dining to leaving! Waitress/manager absolutely rude yelling we came in as a party of 10(5 adults and 5 children) we was there an hour and not once got a refill the waitress came to table a few times for plates clearly seen empty cups and not one refill would look over at us roll her eyes and walk off didn’t care about service because she thought we was all paying together and she would get her tip they add on for 5 or more. We was treated poorly!! I don’t recommend anyone to give service to them again it’s went down hill quick

We always enjoy the food and variety here. One of the best Chinese buffets and the lunch price is very reasonable. Sadly the oranges were dried out that day, and we had to watch them lose their high rating. But we will still be returning.

What food they had was cold and nasty. I am feeling sick on my stomach as I write this post. My wifes cup was dirty. I was there 20 minutes no new food was brought out. I forced my self to eat 2 chicken on a stick. Everything else I tried I had to spit back out into a napkin. I should have walked out as soon as I saw buffet. I went up to pay before the server even brought bill. Server couldn't understand when I tried to tell them cup was dirty. When I told cashier food was no good she asked if I wanted to take some with me. I requested a refund and she told me they were not restocking bar as it was getting close to closing. They Close at 9 I arrived at 7:23 I paid and left at 7:48. If I wanted to order a specific meal I would not have went to a Buffet. Isn't Buffet food supposed to be discarded after a certain period of time. Total Cost of Meal 2 Buffets 1 Soft drink 1 water no refills were given. $29.32
