About China Inn

Situated at 1401 The Alameda in San Jose, California, China Inn operates within the Chinese Restaurant category, offering a selection of familiar dishes to the local community. Based on recent online reviews, the dining experience at China Inn appears to be somewhat varied, with positive feedback on certain dishes and aspects of the service and environment, alongside more critical assessments of other menu items.

Regarding the atmosphere of China Inn, one reviewer described the establishment as "tiny," but favorably noted that, in comparison to other small Chinese takeout places, it did not feel "stuffy" and was "very clean." This suggests that while the physical space might be limited, the restaurant maintains a level of cleanliness that is appreciated by its patrons. This could be a significant factor for customers who prioritize hygiene when choosing a dining or takeout option.

In terms of service, one reviewer specifically highlighted the politeness of the hostess and observed that tables were cleared ("bussed") very quickly. This positive feedback indicates that at least some aspects of the service are efficient and customer-oriented. However, it's important to note that this is based on a limited number of reviews, and other aspects of the service, such as order taking or handling specific requests, are not detailed in the provided information.

The food at China Inn seems to elicit a range of reactions from customers. The Sweet and Sour Chicken received positive remarks, with one reviewer describing it as "great." They specifically mentioned the "really big" size of the chicken pieces (which could be seen as a positive or negative depending on individual preference), the quality of the sauce, the fact that the chicken was not overcooked, and the accompanying "good fried rice." This suggests that the Sweet and Sour Chicken might be a standout dish for China Inn.

However, not all dishes received such favorable reviews. One customer who ordered Vegetable Fried Rice and Kung Pao Tofu via a food delivery service expressed significant disappointment. They found the Vegetable Fried Rice to be of poor quality and quantity, stating that it was "not cooked properly," tasted "terrible," and had "literally no flavors at all," requiring the addition of seasonings to make it edible. This reviewer also felt that the dish was overpriced for its low standard. The Kung Pao Tofu was described as merely "just ok," indicating a lack of strong positive or negative impressions but ultimately not meeting expectations. This negative experience led the reviewer to conclude that they would not order from China Inn again.

Another reviewer noted that the area of San Jose/Santa Clara can be challenging for finding good "basic" Chinese takeout. They suggested that China Inn is the "best option" found within a 10-minute drive of PayPal for those seeking "all sorts of bite-sized pieces of chicken, beef or pork in a familiar variety of sauces." This implies that China Inn might specialize in or be a reliable source for classic American-Chinese takeout dishes, catering to a specific preference for this style of cuisine.

Currently, there is no information available regarding any specific promotional offers or features of China Inn. Local users interested in learning about any discounts, special menu items, or unique aspects of the restaurant would need to contact them directly at (408) 288-5339 or +1 408-288-5339. It might also be worthwhile to check online food delivery platforms or other review sites for any potential promotions or updated customer feedback.

In conclusion, China Inn on The Alameda in San Jose appears to be a small, clean Chinese restaurant that offers a mix of experiences for its customers. While the Sweet and Sour Chicken has received positive feedback, and the hostess was noted for her politeness, there are also concerns regarding the quality and flavor of some dishes, such as the Vegetable Fried Rice. The restaurant might be a suitable option for those seeking standard American-Chinese takeout in the local area, particularly for dishes like Sweet and Sour Chicken. However, potential customers should be aware of the varying opinions on food quality and consider their own preferences when deciding to dine in or order from China Inn. Further investigation or trying a few different dishes might be necessary to form a comprehensive opinion of this establishment.

Great sweet and sour chicken. The chicken pieces are really big which could be a plus or minus depending on how you like it, but the sauce was great, chicken not overcooked, and good fried rice. The place is tiny, but compared to other tiny Chinese takeout places, not stuffy and very clean. The hostess was very polite and I noticed that tables were bussed very quickly. This area of SJ / Santa Clara can be really hard to find good "basic" Chinese takeout, but if you're looking for all sorts of bite-sized pieces of chicken, beef or pork in a familiar variety of sauces, this is the best option I've found within a 10 minute drive of PayPal.

Ordered the below food from here a couple of days back through Uber East 1. Vegetable Fried Rice 2. Kung Pao Tofu I am going to be strictly honest here. I was highly disappointed with the quality and quantity of Vegetable Fired rice. It was not cooked properly. I tasted terrible, literally no flavors at all. I had to add all the kinds of flavors (even salt) by myself to make it edible. It costs pretty high for such low standard tasteless food. Kung Pao Tofu was just ok. One thing is for sure, I am never ordering food from here ever again.

We have a new spot for Chinese food! The food here was delicious! They have No MSG proudly posted on their menu and you can tell by the way you don't feel bloated after. MSG stands for Mono Sodium Glutamate. Sodium is salt, and salt makes you retain water for bloating. The food was very good and expertly seasoned!

1st time and not the last. We’ve probably driven by them a hundred times but tried them with grub hub on Christmas Day. Wow. We will be back. Thank you for the great food

We trusted Google maps to lead us to the nearest Chinese cuisine. We were pleased with the results! We will be returning. No MSG's left my tummy happy. I ate everything and felt energized after our meal. The dining area is small, seating a dozen people or so. We took our meal to go and plated it at home 10 minutes later. The pictures say 1000 words! My tummy says thank you. The staff was abundant and friendly. Our meal of three dishes took 10 minutes to complete. Thank you China Inn.
