About China Inn Chinese Restaurant

Welcome to China Inn Chinese Restaurant, located at 518 U.S. Hwy 70 W, Havelock, NC 28532, USA. As a Chinese restaurant serving the Havelock community, China Inn offers both dine-in and takeout options. Recent customer reviews present a somewhat mixed picture of the restaurant, highlighting both positive aspects, such as the freshness of some ingredients and attentive waiter service, as well as areas that have received criticism, including certain dishes and phone order service.

One customer who ordered takeout shared a varied experience. They found the shrimp chop suey to be "good," noting that the vegetables were fresh, although slightly overcooked. However, they had a significantly negative experience with the egg rolls and egg drop soup, describing them as "horrible." The egg drop soup was particularly criticized for having an "orange broth" and overcooked eggs with no flavor, a departure from the reviewer's previous experiences with this dish. This suggests potential inconsistencies in the preparation of different menu items.

The same reviewer also reported a negative interaction with the person who took their order over the phone, describing them as "not very nice." Additionally, their delivery was over half an hour late, exceeding the initially quoted 45-minute timeframe. Despite these issues, the customer did tip the driver. They also referenced a past positive experience when the restaurant was located near a Choppers Place at Knights Inn, where they reportedly received "always great" food at least once a week. This indicates a possible change in quality or service since the relocation or a difference between dine-in and delivery experiences.

In contrast, another customer who dined in had a much more positive experience. They described the food as "amazing" and specifically commended their waiter, Justin, for being "very sincere and understanding" of the wife's dietary needs. This suggests that the restaurant is willing to accommodate customers with specific food requirements and that at least one member of the waitstaff provides excellent service. The reviewer also noted that their food took some time to come out but realized shortly after that it was "all hand cut prepped and made to order." This implies a commitment to using fresh ingredients and preparing dishes individually, which could explain the longer wait time and potentially contribute to the better quality experienced by this dine-in customer. The dish ordered was Mapo tofu with chicken, which was presumably part of the "amazing" food experience.

Despite the positive feedback on the food's taste and freshness for the dine-in customer, they expressed a desire for the physical appearance of the store to match the quality of the food, stating, "I just wish the store looked as good as the food tastes." This suggests that the ambiance or cleanliness of the restaurant's environment might be an area for improvement, although no specific details were provided.

Based on these reviews, the services offered by China Inn Chinese Restaurant include both dine-in and takeout, with delivery being an option as well (though the delivery experience reported was negative in one instance). The restaurant seems capable of handling dietary restrictions and prepares some dishes to order, indicating a degree of flexibility and attention to customer needs, at least for dine-in patrons. However, the phone ordering service and delivery timeliness appear to be areas of concern based on one customer's experience.

In terms of features, China Inn seems to prioritize fresh ingredients and made-to-order preparation for some dishes, which can lead to higher quality and better taste, as noted by the dine-in customer. The availability of a waiter who is attentive to dietary needs is also a notable feature. However, the inconsistency in food quality between different dishes (e.g., the positive review of shrimp chop suey versus the negative reviews of egg rolls and egg drop soup) and potential issues with takeout quality and service are important considerations.

The reviews do not contain any information about current promotions or special offers at China Inn Chinese Restaurant. Local users interested in any such deals would need to contact the restaurant directly or check their website or local advertising if available.

In conclusion, China Inn Chinese Restaurant in Havelock, NC, offers a mixed bag of experiences based on recent customer reviews. While the dine-in experience seems to be generally positive, with fresh, made-to-order food and attentive service, the takeout and delivery experiences have been less consistent, with issues reported regarding food quality, phone service, and delivery timeliness. The restaurant appears to have the potential to serve high-quality, fresh food, but there may be inconsistencies in execution across different dishes and service modes. Local users might want to consider dining in to potentially experience the better aspects highlighted in the reviews, or if ordering takeout, perhaps focus on dishes that have received positive mentions for their freshness and taste, while being aware of the reported issues with other items and the delivery service.

Food was amazing and waiter Justin was very sincere and understand of my wife’s needs being she can’t have certain foods; our food took some time to come out but I realized shortly after it was all hand cut prepped and made to order for my order! I just wish the store looked as good as the food tastes. I ordered the Mapo tofu with chicken.

Been a long-time customer, what happened? Normally, the food is delicious and hot. Not so, late Thursday afternoon. Shrimp Lo Mein Noodles were not fresh, General TSOs chicken and Sesame chicken were very dry.

This is the worst Chinese I have ever eaten in my life. General Tsos was soggy and had no flavor at all, rice was obviously minute rice or some kinda cheap stuff, egg role was dripping with grease..I wouldn’t tell my worst enemy to go there. Don’t even deserve 1 star.

I ordered the beef and scallops. It made me sad. This is the chef's special. It has white onions and green onions (scallions) meat and scallops. Looks bland. Tastes ok, but my mouth and stomach were expecting the attached photo with some veggies and maybe some straw mushrooms. As a chef "special", it is sad. Please work on this. No one wants meat with two kinds of onions. Something needs to balance out the onion flavor.
