About China Hut

Welcome to China Hut, a Chinese restaurant located at 5460 Two Notch Rd in Columbia, South Carolina. As a local establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, China Hut primarily offers takeout services for the convenience of its customers. While specific details regarding the restaurant's ambiance or dine-in options are not provided in the available reviews, the focus appears to be on providing Chinese cuisine for customers to enjoy off-site.

Based on the limited customer feedback available, the primary service offered by China Hut is takeout. Customers can place orders via phone at (803) 691-0008 or +1 803-691-0008 and pick up their food at the provided address. The reviews do not mention delivery services, so local users seeking delivery would need to inquire directly with the restaurant or check with third-party delivery platforms for potential availability.

The customer reviews regarding China Hut present a somewhat mixed picture, particularly concerning the consistency of food quality. One reviewer stated that they had "never had a problem with my orders" but noted that "sometimes the food taste isn't consistent." This suggests that while many experiences might be satisfactory, there can be variability in the quality and taste of the dishes served. This inconsistency is a factor that potential customers should be aware of.

Another, more recent review detailed a significantly negative experience. This customer, who mentioned previously loving the place, reported that the food ordered on November 23rd was "awful." Specific dishes that were criticized include the vegetable rice, which was described as "gross" compared to its previous quality, and the sweet and sour chicken, which was also deemed "almost as bad." The fried wontons were noted as being "ok," providing a single point of slight positivity in the order. However, the reviewer's husband's sesame chicken was described as "inedible" and was reportedly thrown away before a photo could be taken. This strongly negative experience led the customer to conclude that they would not be returning to China Hut.

The second review also speculated about potential reasons for the decline in food quality, mentioning the possibility of new management or the impact of construction in the surrounding area. While these are speculations and not confirmed facts, they indicate a noticeable change in the food quality experienced by at least one long-time customer. The stark contrast between past positive experiences (implied by "I loved this place") and the recent negative one highlights the potential for significant variability in food standards.

Considering the available feedback, a key feature of China Hut appears to be its provision of standard Chinese takeout fare. However, a significant concern is the apparent inconsistency in food quality, as highlighted by both reviews. While one customer had generally positive experiences with occasional inconsistencies, another reported a complete dissatisfaction with a recent order, deeming multiple dishes to be of poor quality. This lack of consistent quality is a crucial point for local users to consider when deciding whether to order from China Hut.

Given the limited and somewhat negative recent feedback, it is challenging to identify specific positive features or recommend particular dishes with confidence. The one consistently positive note was the "ok" rating for the fried wontons in the negative review, but this is hardly a strong endorsement. Potential customers might want to inquire about the preparation methods or recent changes at the restaurant when placing an order, although there is no guarantee that this will resolve the consistency issues reported.

No promotional information is available in the provided text. Local users interested in any discounts, special offers, or new menu items at China Hut would need to contact the restaurant directly at the provided phone numbers or visit their location at 5460 Two Notch Rd, Columbia, SC 29204, USA. Due to the concerns raised about food quality, it might be prudent to inquire about the freshness of ingredients or any recent changes in kitchen staff or management when placing an order.

In conclusion, China Hut is a Chinese restaurant in Columbia, SC, primarily offering takeout services. Customer reviews suggest a potential issue with the consistency of food quality, with one reviewer reporting a significantly negative experience with multiple dishes. While another reviewer noted occasional inconsistencies, the more recent feedback raises concerns about the current standards. Local users considering China Hut should be aware of these potential issues and may want to exercise caution or seek more up-to-date information before placing an order. Contacting the restaurant directly for clarification on their current practices and any promotions is recommended.

Never had a problem with my orders. The only issue I have is that sometimes the food taste isn't consistent.

I am not sure if it's under new management or if the construction going on around it has been causing problems. The food I ordered sat Nov 23rd was aweful. Their vegetable rice was so good before. It was just gross today. The sweet and sour chicken was almost as bad. I ordered fried wontons, which were ok. My husband got sesame chicken and it was enedible. He had thrown it away before i could get a photo. I loved this place, but I will not be returning.

So I’ve eaten at this restaurant multiple times never had an issue with my food. That’s why it used to be my favorite. Today, I ordered the house fried rice with five cut wings, finally eat and I find this weird piece of chicken that looks like someone stuck a finger in it or bit into it. It was turned upside down in the plate and had another piece of chicken on top of it. I called and the man said it’s impossible that this happened. Started being Rude. Af. Wouldn’t listen. Cutting me off. I just said bump it, I won’t go back but I’m going to leave this review. They need better customer service skills. Low key dude was acting like I wanted a free meal. I literally just wanted my piece of chicken replaced. That’s what I go for! THE CHICKEN! Then it was a flat!! My favorite part!!! 😭Like what the what. It’s all good but I won’t go back.

Typical Chinese take out menu and experience. Generous portions. Very reasonable prices; especially the lunch specials. The Wonton soup is my absolute favorite.

The restaurant is clean and the staff is efficient. I've eaten here several times over the course of several years. Flavor-wise, the food is a hit or miss. I wouldn't recommend their egg foo young, but the chicken & broccoli is tasty. This restaurant is a bit pricier than other Chinese spots in Columbia.
