About China House
China House, a Chinese restaurant located at 10020 W Florissant Ave, St. Louis, MO 63136, USA, serves the local community with Chinese cuisine. For inquiries or orders, they can be reached via phone at (314) 388-9787 or mobile at +1 314-388-9787. As a Chinese Restaurant, China House offers a selection of Chinese dishes for both dine-in and takeout, catering to the demand for Asian food in the St. Louis area.
The environment of China House is not explicitly detailed in the provided customer reviews. The feedback focuses heavily on the food quality, menu changes, and customer service interactions, rather than the physical ambiance or decor of the establishment. This suggests that the environment is likely a functional and perhaps modest space, typical of many local Chinese restaurants that prioritize efficiency for takeout and casual dining. The absence of specific complaints or praises about the physical setting implies that it serves its purpose without being a significant detractor or highlight for the customers who provided reviews. In such establishments, the focus is often placed on the culinary experience and the efficiency of service.
Customer service at China House presents a mixed picture, with one review highlighting a concerning experience. While one customer generally refers to the staff as "Cool peoples," suggesting a positive overall impression, another review details an uncomfortable and potentially discriminatory interaction. This customer observed a pattern where the "lady at the front will service anyone" else, but when it was their turn, "she hesitated as she looked for her co worker" to take the order. This consistent avoidance made the customer "extremely uncomfortable," leading to a feeling that they "must have done something to her to make her feel some type of way," despite only placing orders. This specific and repeated behavior, if accurate, points to a serious issue in customer service where a patron feels singled out or unwelcome. This type of experience can significantly undermine a restaurant's reputation and deter repeat business, regardless of food quality. While this is one isolated account, it raises concerns about consistency and potential biases in service delivery, which is a critical aspect for any establishment interacting directly with the public. Future visits, as the customer noted, will determine if this is an ongoing issue or an isolated incident. The overall quality of service at China House, therefore, appears to be inconsistent, ranging from generally positive to potentially problematic depending on individual interactions.
China House features a "new menu" and has notably "better rice from what they once had," suggesting efforts by management or new ownership ("I am going to assume they have new workers and owners") to improve their offerings. This commitment to improvement is a positive feature, indicating that the restaurant is responsive to quality. A specific standout dish mentioned is the "spicy chicken and peppers," which is described as "pretty dank," an informal but strong positive endorsement of its taste and quality. Another highly appreciated feature is the generous portion sizes. Customers explicitly state that "a combination plate gone last you for lunch and dinner," and that "they ain’t stingy at all fam." This emphasis on ample servings provides excellent value for money, allowing patrons to get multiple meals from a single order. This generosity is a significant draw for customers looking for satisfying and cost-effective meals. The combination of improved rice, specific highly-rated dishes, and very generous portions are key features that would appeal to local users seeking good value in Chinese cuisine.
In terms of promotional information, China House benefits greatly from word-of-mouth promotion regarding its generous portion sizes and improved food quality. The comment that a "combination plate gone last you for lunch and dinner" serves as a direct and compelling testimonial for value, appealing to those looking for satisfying meals that stretch further. The positive feedback on the "spicy chicken and peppers" also acts as an organic promotion, encouraging others to try a specific, highly-rated dish. The mention of a "new menu" and "better rice" subtly promotes the idea of ongoing improvements, suggesting that the restaurant is actively working to enhance its offerings. While there are no explicit discounts or special offers mentioned, the inherent value derived from large portions at what is presumably a standard price point for Chinese takeout, coupled with positive culinary updates, forms the core of its promotional appeal. However, the serious concern raised about potential discriminatory or uncomfortable customer service could severely undermine these positive aspects and act as a significant deterrent, potentially offsetting the benefits of good food and generous portions. For local users, the decision to visit China House would involve weighing the reported culinary improvements and value against the potential for an uncomfortable service experience, making it a mixed proposition in terms of overall appeal.

Cool peoples, new menu, the spicy chicken and peppers is pretty dank. Definitely better rice from what they once had so i am going to assume they have new workers and owners. Oh and when i tell you a combination plate gone last you for lunch and dinner, they ain’t stingy at all fam.
The lady at the front will service anyone. But I notice when I come in, she calls another employee to take my order. Like today, when I came in she serviced everybody. When it came my turn she hesitated as she looked for her co worker. Apparently, I must have done something to her to make her feel some type of way. It makes me extremely uncomfortable that she feels that way, because I haven’t done anything to her but place my order. We will see what happens next time and I hope it will be better service.
Food is pretty good. My go to dishes are veg egg foo young, s&s chicken, potstickers. Efy not bad but their gravy needs work. Also, if you get veg fried rice or something you have to also ask for egg in it, & you get charged for EVERY LITTLE THING. They charged me pork efy, minus pork, no minus charge, then charged for veggies. Same w/ the rice. They did similar thing on the lomain we ordered. Crazy. The food is good, s&s chicken definitely tasty. I'd go back.
I saw a previous review of the chili chicken with green peppers and wanted to try it for myself. It was so yummy and I have a new favorite dish. I can't believe I got so much food in this combo plate for only 7.25. the fried dumplings are some of the best in St. Louis. the girl behind the counter is very nice and I love that it feels like I've stepped into a family's kitchen when I walk in- smells nice and happy vibes.
They never disappoint me. I don't visit as much as I use to because I've totally changed my eating habits. So when I go which is now about twice a year it's a treat. (*Special Fries rice with Egg and green onions). Fabolous Side note: I love how family oriented they are and the service and cleanliness.
