About China House

Welcome to China House, a Chinese restaurant situated at 5636 US-60 APT 6 in Huntington, WV 25705. As a Chinese restaurant, China House offers a buffet-style dining experience to the local community in Huntington. Buffets typically provide a wide array of dishes, allowing customers to sample various Chinese culinary options.

For inquiries or information, China House can be contacted at their phone number: (304) 733-3898 or their mobile number: +1 304-733-3898. These contact details are available for local residents to get in touch with the restaurant for any questions they may have regarding their services or offerings.

Based on recent customer feedback available online, it appears that experiences at China House have been mixed, with some significant concerns raised about the food quality. One customer recounted visiting the restaurant twice, once near the transition from lunch to dinner and again shortly after opening for lunch. On both occasions, this customer reported that the food was not fresh. Specifically, they mentioned that chicken and other dishes with sauces were sitting in the juice, causing them to become soggy. They highlighted that even dishes like sesame chicken, which should have a certain crispness, were soft. This reviewer expressed considerable disappointment, especially after giving the restaurant a second chance, and stated that their lunch was ruined. While they noted that the pricing and customer service were good, they concluded that they would prefer to pay more for better food quality.

Another customer also commented on the affordability of the buffet, describing the prices as "pretty cheap." However, they followed this by stating that "ultimately you get what you pay for," suggesting a correlation between the low price and the quality of the food. This reviewer also mentioned that the drinks appeared to be "pretty watered down." Furthermore, they reported feeling unwell for a day or two after eating at China House, along with their spouse. While they acknowledged that they had eaten something else as well, making it uncertain if China House was the direct cause of their illness, this feedback raises concerns about the overall food quality and potential hygiene standards.

Considering these reviews, it seems that while China House may offer an affordable buffet option with satisfactory customer service, there are significant concerns regarding the freshness and quality of the food. The issues of soggy food, lack of expected texture, and potential health implications are important points for potential customers to consider.

As a Chinese buffet, China House would typically feature a selection of popular Chinese-American dishes. These often include items like fried rice, various chicken preparations (such as General Tso's, sesame, and sweet and sour), beef and broccoli, lo mein or chow mein noodles, egg rolls, and soups. Buffets usually aim to provide a wide variety to cater to different tastes. However, the reported issues with freshness and quality suggest that the execution of these dishes may be a concern at China House.

Given the feedback about the food sitting in juice and the lack of freshness, potential customers who prioritize food quality may want to exercise caution. If you are considering dining at China House, it might be beneficial to inquire about the timing of food preparation and how frequently the buffet items are refreshed. If you have specific preferences regarding the texture or preparation of certain dishes, it might be worth asking the staff about them.

The reviews do not provide much detail about the environment or ambiance of the restaurant itself. The first reviewer mentioned average cleanliness, which is a neutral point. If the dining atmosphere is important to you, you might consider visiting the location to get a sense of the environment or look for additional online reviews that might provide more information in this area.

For local users in Huntington, WV, China House presents itself as an affordable Chinese buffet option. However, the recent customer feedback strongly suggests potential issues with food freshness and quality, which are critical aspects of any dining experience. While the pricing and customer service were mentioned positively by one reviewer, the concerns about the food may outweigh these aspects for many potential diners. It would be prudent to carefully consider the recent reviews before deciding to dine at China House.

In conclusion, China House at 5636 US-60 APT 6, Huntington, WV, offers a Chinese buffet with reportedly cheap prices and good customer service. However, recent customer reviews raise significant concerns about the freshness and overall quality of the food, including issues with sogginess and potential health implications. Local users considering this restaurant should weigh these factors carefully before making a decision. It might be advisable to seek more recent reviews or perhaps inquire directly with the restaurant about their current food preparation and quality control measures.

Came one time last week during lunch but it was close to being dinner time so I said that may have been the reason. Decided to come back again today at 11 when they opened hoping for a better result. None of the food was fresh and all of the chicken and food that had juice was just sitting in juice getting soggy. Sesame chicken isn’t supposed to be that soft. Very disappointed and annoyed that I gave them another chance. Just ruined my entire lunch. Pricing and customer service is good but I’ll rather pay more money for better food quality.

The prices are pretty cheap for the buffet but ultimately you get what you pay for. The drinks where pretty watered down as well. After eating here me and my wife felt pretty unwell for a day or two but we had also eaten something else so we are not entirely sure if this place got us sick or if it was something else.

It seems ownership has changed. New servers, new recipes. It's fine, but it's not somewhere I'm going out of my way to eat like I did with the previous owners.
