About China House

China House, located at 140 S Midwest Blvd in Midwest City, Oklahoma, falls under the Chinese restaurant category and has been serving the local community for a number of years. Based on the limited recent customer feedback available online, experiences with China House appear to be mixed, with some long-term customers expressing fondness for certain menu items, while more recent reviews raise significant concerns about food handling practices and inconsistencies in food quality.

One long-time customer shared their history of enjoying the food at China House. They specifically mentioned a craving for their "delicious egg drop soup" while recovering from the flu. However, this particular order revealed some concerning issues. The steamed rice was reported to taste "like metal," and the sweet and sour sauce had a similar metallic taste. Additionally, the egg rolls, usually a favorite of the reviewer's husband, were also deemed "bad" on this occasion. This experience highlights a potential decline in the quality of some of their dishes, even for a loyal customer with years of positive experiences.

Another, more recent review raises a serious hygiene concern. While waiting for their food, the customer reports witnessing a front store clerk handling money and cards from a previous customer and then proceeding to scoop food with her bare hands. The reviewer explicitly describes the clerk "literally, fisting it to top off the scoop" before placing the food in the deep fryer. Subsequently, the same clerk reportedly came to the window to handle the reviewer's payment. This account describes a significant breach of basic food safety practices, raising serious questions about hygiene standards at China House. The reviewer's concluding remark, "Besides that, seems fine!" appears to be heavily sarcastic, underscoring the severity of the observed food handling.

Based on these limited reviews, it is challenging to provide a detailed description of the environment of China House. There is no mention of the ambiance or cleanliness of the dining area itself. The focus of the feedback is primarily on the food quality and service practices observed during takeout order preparation.

The services offered by China House appear to include both dine-in and takeout, as customers are mentioned waiting for food and placing orders to take away. They have provided phone numbers, (405) 732-7345 and +1 405-732-7345, suggesting that phone orders are also accepted. However, the reported incident of a clerk handling both money and food with bare hands reflects poorly on their service protocols and hygiene standards.

Features of China House, based on the available reviews, include:

  • Long-standing presence in the community: One reviewer mentions eating there for years, suggesting a history in Midwest City.
  • Potentially delicious egg drop soup (based on past experience): A specific dish mentioned as a favorite by a long-term customer.
  • Egg rolls (though quality may be inconsistent): Another dish mentioned, but with recent negative feedback.

However, significant concerns raised by recent customers include:

  • Potential for poor food handling practices: A customer reported observing a clerk handling food with bare hands after taking payment.
  • Inconsistent food quality: A long-term customer experienced metallic tastes in the rice and sweet and sour sauce, and poor quality egg rolls.

There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Customers would need to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about any current specials or promotions.

In conclusion, China House in Midwest City, OK, has been a part of the local dining scene for years, with some customers having enjoyed their food in the past. However, recent customer feedback raises serious concerns regarding hygiene practices, specifically the handling of food with bare hands after processing payments. Additionally, there are reports of declining food quality, with issues such as metallic tastes in dishes and poorly prepared egg rolls. Potential local users should be aware of these recent negative experiences when considering ordering from or dining at China House. While the restaurant may have had a positive reputation in the past, the recent reviews suggest a need for significant improvements in food safety and consistency.

I've been eating here for years.I love their food. However, right now I have the flu and I needed some of that delicious egg drop soup. I had to meet the minimum. I ordered steamed rice. Not sure the problem with it except it tasted like metal and so did the sweet and sour. The egg rolls are all my husband likes and he said those were bad. I will order again but I was extra sad today because I don't feel well and I was looking forward to it all.

Hate to do this, but while I was waiting for my food I saw the front store clerk take money/card from the customer in front of me, then scoop food and use her bare hands on the food. Literally, fisting it to top off the scoop. She dumped it in the deep fryer then came to the window to take my money. Besides that, seems fine!

Food tasted freshly cooked & was really good! Delivery was fast. The crab rangoon was some of the best I’ve had in a long time. My husband really enjoyed the orange chicken. We’ll definitely order from China House again.

This restaurant used to be one of the best and now you have to pay for soy sauce. I could understand paying for extra but they don't even give you an initial pack. I would think that if you are paying 25-30 dollars for food you could at least get two packs of sauce for no charge. Ridiculous.
