About China House

Located at 1650 Lansing St in Detroit, Michigan, China House is a local Chinese Restaurant known for serving substantial portions of their dishes. If you're looking for a Chinese meal where you might have plenty of leftovers, China House could be an option to consider.

Customer reviews regarding China House present a somewhat varied perspective. Several reviewers specifically mention the exceptionally large portion sizes of the almond boneless chicken. One customer humorously stated it took them almost a week to eat, and even then, they didn't finish it all. They noted the almond chicken was comparable in taste to other places but stood out due to the "gigantic amount." Another reviewer echoed this sentiment, expressing being "pleasantly surprised" by the quantity of the almond boneless chicken, so much so that they felt "overwhelmed" by it and were not immediately inclined to order it again.

However, not all feedback is entirely positive. One reviewer found the fried rice to be average. More concerningly, another customer had a negative experience with the beef lo mein, reporting that it tasted like shrimp. This prompted them to take an antihistamine due to a potential allergy concern and to stop eating the dish. This customer suspected cross-contamination from shared cooking oil and stated they would not return, even suggesting a call to the food inspector. Other family members reportedly corroborated the shrimp-like taste in the beef lo mein.

For local users in Detroit seeking a Chinese restaurant, China House is notable for its very large portions, particularly of the almond boneless chicken. However, potential customers should be aware of recent feedback indicating possible issues with food preparation and cross-contamination, specifically concerning the beef lo mein tasting like shrimp. You can contact China House at (313) 297-8888 or +1 313-297-8888 for further inquiries before placing an order.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever ordered almond boneless chicken where it took me like a week to get through it and I didn't even eat all of it. The fried rice could have been better, but the almond chicken was already as good as pretty much anywhere else you're going to get almond chicken, except for they just give you the gigantic amount. I was pleasantly surprised. I'll probably be back but honestly I don't think I've ever been overwhelmed by almond boneless chicken before. Usually I eat it for like 2 or 3 days, and then I'm good for a while but at this place I think I OD'd on it and am not in a hurry to go get more anytime soon. Weird in a good way.

The beef lo mein taste it like shrimp and I immediately took me a Claritin and stopped eating it. My lo mein should taste like beef 🥩 and not shrimp. I think they’re using and the same oil for everything and everything should be separated. Thank goodness I didn’t get sick because I would’ve been calling the food inspector. (everyone in my family said that the lo mein tasted like shrimp , thank goodness I stopped eating it . I would never go back and eat their food again.
