About China & Hibachi

China & Hibachi, located at 1103 N Main St, Fountain Inn, SC 29644, USA, operates within the Chinese Restaurant category and also appears to offer hibachi-style cooking, suggesting a dual focus on Chinese cuisine and Japanese-inspired hibachi dishes. They can be contacted at their telephone number, (864) 862-1566, or their mobile number, +1 864-862-1566, for inquiries or to place orders.

Information regarding the specific environment and ambiance of China & Hibachi is not detailed in the provided customer reviews. Typically, a restaurant offering both Chinese and hibachi styles might have distinct seating areas, with traditional tables for enjoying Chinese dishes and teppanyaki tables with built-in grills for the hibachi experience, where food is cooked in front of the customers. However, without specific descriptions from reviewers, it is difficult to provide an accurate portrayal of the restaurant's atmosphere. Potential customers may need to visit the location to assess the environment for themselves.

In terms of services, China & Hibachi likely offers both dine-in and takeout options, common for Chinese restaurants. The mention of a "house lo mein" and a "combination plate" suggests a standard menu of Chinese dishes available for order. The negative experience of one customer attempting to rectify an order issue in person indicates that customer service interactions occur at the physical location. The availability of hibachi cooking implies a dine-in service where meals are prepared live at the table by a chef. However, the provided reviews focus heavily on negative aspects of service and food quality related to standard Chinese menu items.

Based on the available customer reviews, there are significant concerns regarding the food quality and customer service at China & Hibachi. One reviewer expressed extreme disappointment with their "house lo mein," stating that it "barely had any meats that would make it a house lo mein" and contained only three shrimp in a large bowl that was described as "skippy" (likely meaning sparse or lacking in content). This customer's attempt to address the issue with the manager resulted in unsatisfactory excuses, leading to a vow not to return due to "very poor customer service/management" and a perception that the restaurant "only care about the money!"

Another, more detailed review recounted an "incredibly disappointing and disheartening experience" related to a combination plate order. The customer specifically requested no onions in their husband's chicken fried rice, but the order contained "big chunks of onions." Upon calling the restaurant, they were assured the rice would be replaced. However, upon returning to the restaurant, the owner allegedly displayed an "unprofessional and confrontational attitude," yelling at the customer in front of employees and other patrons. The situation escalated when the owner, despite a replacement being prepared, reportedly opened the original plate and began "touching and stirring the food with her bare hands." This action understandably made the customer uncomfortable with accepting any replacement and led to a request for a refund, which was allegedly refused even after the food was taken back.

Adding to the severity of the situation, when the customer attempted to document the incident, the owner reportedly called the police and falsely claimed the customer had taken food without paying. While the police officers who arrived recognized the discrepancy in the owner's account, they were unable to assist with a refund, advising the customer to pursue a civil case. The reviewer also noted that the owner continued to act unprofessionally in front of the police, again touching the food with her bare hands.

This detailed account paints a very troubling picture of the customer service and food handling practices at China & Hibachi. The reviewer, a frequent diner at various establishments, felt compelled to share this "unacceptable" experience as a warning to others about the "hostility and dishonesty" encountered. The reviewer explicitly stated they would not be returning.

The absence of any positive feedback in the provided reviews is a significant point. Both available accounts detail negative experiences related to food quality (lack of ingredients, incorrect preparation) and, more alarmingly, highly unprofessional and unsanitary food handling by the owner in response to a complaint. These reviews collectively suggest potential systemic issues with food preparation standards, quality control, and customer service management at China & Hibachi.

Given the nature of the feedback, it is impossible to ascertain any positive features of the restaurant from these reviews. The focus is entirely on negative experiences that left customers feeling dissatisfied, disrespected, and even concerned about food safety and hygiene.

Promotional information is entirely absent from the provided customer reviews. With the significant issues raised regarding food quality and customer service, any potential promotions would likely be overshadowed by these more critical concerns. Potential customers would likely prioritize addressing the fundamental aspects of food and service before being swayed by promotional offers.

In conclusion, the available customer reviews for China & Hibachi in Fountain Inn, SC, raise serious concerns regarding both the quality of the food and the professionalism of the customer service, particularly the conduct of the management. One reviewer reported a lack of expected ingredients in a dish and poor management response, while another detailed a deeply upsetting experience involving an incorrect order, confrontational behavior from the owner, unsanitary food handling, and a false report to the police. The absence of any positive feedback suggests that potential customers should exercise caution and consider these negative experiences when deciding whether to patronize China & Hibachi.

I had an incredibly disappointing and disheartening experience at this restaurant last night. I placed an order for a combination plate that included sweet-and-sour chicken and chicken fried rice, specifically requesting no onions in my husband’s portion. Unfortunately, when we received the order, it contained big chunks of onions. I called the restaurant to inform them of the mistake, and they politely assured me that they would replace the rice. However, upon arriving at the restaurant, I was met with an unprofessional and confrontational attitude from the owner. Instead of handling the situation calmly, the woman at the front began yelling at me in front of her employees. I calmly told her I can’t understand what she was telling me because she was yelling, acting irate, and she continued on yelling “next time you don’t order vegetables then”. While the restaurant was initially empty, other customers began to enter as the situation escalated. Despite the fact that the kitchen was already preparing a replacement for the rice, the owner proceeded to open my husband’s plate and, shockingly, began touching and stirring the food with her bare hands. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable accepting any replacement and simply requested a refund. She refused, even though she had taken back the food I had paid for. To make matters worse, when I attempted to document the incident, she called the police and falsely claimed that I had taken the food without paying. When the officers arrived, they quickly realized the situation was not as she had described, but unfortunately, they were unable to help me recover my money, as it would require pursuing a civil case. The owner was still acting unprofessionally in front of the police officer as she continued to stir my husband’s food around with her bare fingers. This entire experience was unnecessary and deeply upsetting. I approached the situation with kindness and patience, yet I was met with hostility and dishonesty. I have never been treated so poorly by a business, and I would never want anyone else to endure such an experience. Needless to say, I will not be returning, and I hope this review serves as a warning to others about the unprofessional conduct I encountered. Our family eats out frequently, trying a variety of restaurants and fast-food places. Whether the food is excellent or not, I typically choose not to leave reviews because I understand the hard work that goes into running a business, and I never want to tarnish someone’s reputation. However, after the experience I had at this restaurant last night, I feel compelled to share what happened. It was truly unacceptable, and I believe others should be aware of the way I was treated.

First time here noticed restaurant during visit to grocery store and decided to try. The Crab Rangoons I give A 10, not too many people make them like this and they are not sweet. The Shrimp Egg-Foo Young was flavorful and hot. The food was fresh and had good taste, we will definitely be back.🥰

VERY rude owner. I received my order and although all the items were correct, EVERYTHING was over cooked. I explained my concerns to the staff and asked them if it would be possible for them to remake it or give me a credit for a future visit or just reimburse me. The lady spoke over me on the phone and said “what do you not understand, you eat it or don’t, I don’t know what you are saying” so I told her the only way I’d know the food wasn’t good, was by tasting it. She made me bring the food up there and took it away and still fussed at me about not wanting to rectify the situation. The rice was the same texture as mashed potatoes, the shrimp literally mushed in my fingers and veggies were raw. I’ve never encountered such rudeness over a $15 meal. I’ve only ate at this Chinese restaurant since moving to the area and have never had an issue. they seriously need to consider better communication skills and customer service skills.
