About China Grill

China Grill is a Chinese restaurant situated at 43 Westridge Market Pl in Candler, North Carolina. As the sole Chinese food establishment within Candler for some residents, it serves as a convenient option for locals seeking Chinese cuisine. Primarily catering to takeout orders, China Grill offers a range of familiar dishes for those in the area.

Based on customer feedback, experiences at China Grill appear to be varied. One regular customer expresses a strong affinity for the restaurant, highlighting the friendly demeanor of the owner and consistently enjoying the food. This personal connection and positive experience suggest that China Grill has the potential to cultivate loyal patrons who appreciate the food and the service they receive.

However, another local customer provides a more comprehensive perspective, particularly relevant for those considering dining in. While acknowledging that their family has ordered from China Grill numerous times due to its convenient location, this reviewer expresses a personal lack of enthusiasm for Chinese food in general. Nevertheless, they offer insights into specific dishes ordered by their family. A highlight for their husband is the Sweet & Sour Chicken paired with Pork Fried Rice, indicating that these classic dishes are available and enjoyed by some customers.

The same review also provides some observations regarding the dining environment and service. It notes that while dine-in tables are available, they are often perceived as unclean and not conducive to a relaxing experience. The proximity of these tables to the entrance, frequently occupied by customers waiting for their takeout orders, further detracts from the dine-in ambiance. This suggests that China Grill primarily functions as a takeout establishment, with the dine-in option being less of a focus.

Regarding the service, the feedback indicates that it can be "a bit less than friendly." While one customer praises the owner's kindness, this contrasting experience suggests potential inconsistencies in service delivery. For customers who prioritize a welcoming and attentive service experience, this is a factor to consider.

In terms of amenities, China Grill does offer restrooms, although one reviewer notes never having used them, providing no further information on their condition. A significant advantage of its location within the Westridge shopping center, near the Food Lion, is the availability of "plenty of free parking." This accessibility makes it convenient for customers to pick up their takeout orders without the hassle of searching for parking spaces.

The review also mentions a "very chaotic" kitchen environment. While this observation may not directly impact the taste of the food, it could potentially contribute to inconsistencies in order preparation or service speed. Customers who value a calm and organized environment might find this aspect noteworthy.

Regarding specific dishes beyond the Sweet & Sour Chicken and Pork Fried Rice, the reviewer mentioned ordering egg rolls and egg fried rice. Unfortunately, the egg roll "did not sit well" with this particular customer, indicating a potential issue with this item for some individuals. The feedback does not provide details about the egg fried rice, leaving its quality open to interpretation.

Considering the available information, China Grill appears to be a primarily takeout-oriented Chinese restaurant in Candler, NC. While it has a loyal customer who appreciates the food and owner, other feedback suggests that the dine-in experience may be less desirable due to cleanliness and ambiance. The service might also vary. However, for those seeking convenient Chinese takeout in the area, particularly dishes like Sweet & Sour Chicken with Pork Fried Rice, China Grill remains an option. The ample free parking in the shopping center adds to its accessibility for quick pickups.

As the only Chinese food restaurant in Candler for some residents, China Grill fills a specific niche in the local dining scene. Potential customers should weigh the convenience and the reported quality of specific dishes against the noted drawbacks regarding the dine-in environment and potentially inconsistent service. Trying the food, as one reviewer suggests ("it’s always nice to give it a try despite what others think"), might be the best way for individuals to form their own opinions about China Grill.

I personally love this little restaurant. The lady owner is always so nice to me. I’ve become one of her regular customers. I enjoy the food every time I buy from her. It’s always nice to give it a try despite what others think.

This is the only Chinese food restaurant in Candler where I live, so my family has eaten food from here many times. I personally am not a fan of Chinese food. My husband loves the Sweet & Sour Chicken with Pork Fried Rice & that’s what he had today. We both had egg rolls & I also had egg fried rice. The egg roll did not sit well with my stomach. The kitchen is very chaotic & service is a bit less than friendly. There are dine-in tables, bit they are always grubby & it is not a nice place to relax, as they are right by the door & usually filled with people waiting on their takeout. There are restrooms, but I have never used them. Plenty of free parking, as this is located at Westridge shopping center, near the Food Lion.

The pros Giant portions Cheap The cons The oil is nearing the end of its fry life. If this wasn't Asheville, it'd be a deal breaker. The pork was pink, but not BBQ pork pink The food 4/5 Pork Egg Foo Young - the gravy wasn't my favorite 4/5 Sweet and Sour Pork - closer to hush puppies, that batter was thicc. 3/5 Pork Fried Rice - contains 1% pork and 3% vegetables, 96% rice. not sure why it's so yellow 4/5 - cashew chicken 4/5 Lo Mein - I enjoyed this 5/5 Chinese Donuts - it's fried dough 5/5 Wonton / Egg Drop Soup - if you're a fan of yolk, you're gonna LOVE this soup. 3/5 Egg Roll If you order online, wait til you get to the store to leave a tip. The tip I added online was added to the total and a tip line still prints. Double check the total as well, the amount that printed is different than what was online, despite no changes or additional requests. I'll probably not be back, nothing quite hit the spot, but I'm glad I crossed it off the list.

Solid 3.5 but rounded up for customer service. Ordered house special choo suey, house special lol mein, crab Rangoon, egg roll and miso soup. Great portions, ordered smalls of everything and the house specials both were full of meat which is sometimes lacking at other places. Very hot when I got home with it, which is great. Rangoon's need a touch of sugar in my opinion but if you like straight up savory they are great. Plenty of filling. Egg roll was awful. Undercooked and soggy. Super sad. Miso soup was great once I added salt... Lots of seaweed and tofu.
