This allows you to enjoy our food from the comfort of your own home. We strive to prepare our dishes with efficiency for a quick and easy meal solution.
Based on the limited customer feedback available, experiences at China Gourmet appear to be varied. One customer highlighted the "Great value" of their takeout order, mentioning that three quarts of different dishes, including orange chicken, general tso chicken, and chicken lo mein, cost approximately $38. This customer also noted that the food tasted good, albeit "a little different from other places" they had tried. They specifically appreciated that the chicken contained "more meat than breading" and indicated their intention to return, emphasizing the convenience of the restaurant's location in Oak Ridge.
However, another customer reported a significantly negative experience. This review expressed strong dissatisfaction with multiple dishes. The customer claimed their food was cooked in "old seed oil," and reported that the dumplings were overcooked and burned on one side. The Egg Foo young was described as "dark and overcooked," and the corn starch gravy was labeled as having a "nasty flavor." Furthermore, the Hunan Beef was criticized for having "stringy and chewy" meat that was not properly tenderized ("not velvet"). The vegetables were described as "not par boiled before putting to the wok and too raw," and while the egg rolls looked acceptable, they were found to be "tasteless." The Won Ton Soup was also described as "flavorless." Most concerningly, the reviewer stated that both they and their wife experienced headaches and sharp stomach pains shortly after consuming the food and were unable to finish their meal. They concluded by expressing extreme dissatisfaction with the $52 cost of their meal and stated they would "never go back" to China Gourmet.
Given these contrasting reviews, it is important for local users to consider both perspectives. The positive review suggests that China Gourmet can offer good value and satisfactory taste for some customers, particularly for takeout. The larger portions and meat-to-breading ratio in the chicken dishes were specifically appreciated. The convenience of its Oak Ridge location is also a noted advantage.
On the other hand, the negative review raises significant concerns regarding food quality, preparation methods, and potential food safety issues. The detailed criticisms of multiple dishes, along with the reported physical discomfort after consumption, should be taken seriously. This feedback suggests potential inconsistencies in food preparation and quality control.
Without further information or more balanced reviews, it is challenging to provide a comprehensive and definitively positive or negative assessment of China Gourmet. As a local Chinese restaurant offering takeout, it appears to have the potential to provide value and satisfactory meals, as indicated by one review. However, the serious allegations in the other review regarding food quality and potential health concerns cannot be ignored.
Prospective customers may want to consider the mixed feedback and perhaps try a small order initially to assess the quality and their own experience. Contacting the restaurant directly at (336) 643-1388 or +1 336-643-1388 to inquire about their ingredients and preparation methods might also be beneficial.
As a platform highlighting Chinese Restaurants in the area, we aim to present an objective overview based on available information. In the case of China Gourmet, the limited and conflicting reviews prevent us from offering a uniformly positive recommendation. We encourage local users to weigh the available feedback and make informed decisions based on their own preferences and risk tolerance.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for China Gourmet. We recommend contacting the restaurant directly to inquire about any ongoing specials or discounts they may be offering.

Great value. We had takeout today, 3 quarts (orange chicken, general tso, chicken lo mein) came to about $38. Food tasted good, a little different from other places I've had, but we will definitely be back. The chicken was more meat than breading, which was nice. Convenient being in oak ridge.
I wish I could give them a minus 5 stars. They cooked my food in old seed oil. Overcooked the dumplins and burned one side of them all. The Egg Foo young was dark and overcooked. The corn starch gravy was nasty flavored. The meat in my Hunan Beef was stringy and chewy not velvet. The veggies were not par boiled before putting to the wok and too raw. The egg rolls looked fine but tasteless. The Won Ton Soup was flavorless. To top it all off my wife and I got headaches and sharp stomach pains within minutes after eating some of it all . We could not finish this. $52 dollars to feel sick. We will never go back to this front.
Possibly the worst food I've ever had. My sesame chicken looked like the rasins in Rasin Bran. The Taco Bell of Chinese Restaurants would be a compliment, but I wouldn't wany to insult Taco Bell. I'd eat my money before I spent it at this place.
As a server at China Gourmet, I say that this is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants to eat in and work at. It's convenient, reliable, and service is very quick, even when only one server is working (usually I'm the only server). Everything is plated beautifully and tastes delicious. We are also now open fully for dine-in, while still doing carry-out and call-in orders. I may be biased because I work here, but my family and I have been enjoying this restaurant for years and have never been disappointed!
Worst Chinese restaurant in Oak Ridge! Drive 10 minutes in to Kernersville and find much better food and service.
